You don't choke to get the bike heated up, you choke to get the fuel oxygenated. Several minutes seems excessive, and you will probably be running very lean and you will get a lot of popping of the exhaust as fuel will pass through and burn up in the exhaust. On my bike, the manual says to run the choke for about 30 seconds, while in reality, it's more like 30 seconds + driving a few hundred meters after I have closed the choke, before it can idle on its own.

So my choke cable has snapped and needs replacing however in the meantime can I just start her with the throttle open a bit and hold her at steady low revs for a while or ?

so that's that that thing does... 🤔 when I first bought my bike the dude warmed up the engine by holding down the throttle a bit until it was able to idle on its own. is this basically the same concept?

You need to first get one the bike so its straight close tha stand !hold the clutch its good for your discks! Raise the choke and then power on

Also as soon as you power it on you should start moving because if you dont some parts of the engine don get warm and tha creates a substantial difference in some parts and in realy cold weather this can couse big problems i just haven’t found yet how you move around with the choke on because this is also not good i think maybe put it in half im missing some parts of the puzzle
