    It’s overlooked that when Magic had that amazing game as a rookie to win the 1980 NBA finals, Wilkes also had a great game. He put up 37.

    He should have been in the Hall long ago. The impact he had on every team he played on was tremendous. He was truly a quiet assassin. Congrats Jamaal.

      There are guys like Wilkins, Iverson who filled the (scoring) stat sheet. And there are Jamaal, Cooper, Dennis Johnson, Scottie who could HAVE HAD higher stats, but were winners.

      My most underrated Laker of all time. Nice to see he added a shout out to his Warrior team mates and coaches. I became a Laker fan after he joined them. Been a Laker fan every since but it all started with " Silk" and that crazy looking shoot!!!
      Much deserved success and as someone said LONG OVERDUE.

    The man was pure talent on both ends. People tend to forget the game he had against Philly in that legendary game #6 without Kareem. When he was with Golden State he was pure Silk. That team that won the title was one of my favorites of all time.

    Coach John Wooden's ideal of a basketball player. That's all you need to know. With Larry, Dr. J, Chuckster, LeBron, etc, Wilkes is somewhat underappreciated in the pantheon of great forwards. But he was one cool cat who could do it all. And a winner. People forget about when he put Golden State on his back to win an NBA title.

    It's about time Jamaal Wilkes was inducted, way past due. He may have not been one of the flashiest players, but he sure was the smoothest shooter I've ever seen. Absolutely flawless form from start to finish. Plus his steller performance in the the finals where he scored 37 points was one of his greatest periods on the court.

    Truly classy man and player. I feel he is borderline HOF. Fortunate to play with some of best ever. Starting with Walton, then Barry (in NBA), then Kareem and finally, Magic. But, he was disciplined, talented and appreciative. And filled his role beautifully,.

      @@michaelhenderson274463. I saw his career too. He was good. But should good players keep getting in? Thought it was for great and truly exceptional. Guys like Wilkes, Sikma, weren't truly head of the class.
      Good, no question.
      BTW, on those late 70s, early 80s 76ers powerhouses, Bobby Jones and Mo Cheeks were excellent players. I feel Cheeks should've been in Long ago. Bobby kinda borderline, largely cause of unfortunate health issues which restricted his playing time. But let's not act like they were Moses and Julius level. They weren't. And that's no shame. Just for comparison sakes.

    At least he knows the 4 primary reasons he is in the Hall. Walton, Barry, Magic and Kareem. If Wilkes is in, where is Bobby Dandridge? He is well deserving.

    • @westy40
      @westy40 9 років тому +5

      You're right. I love Wilkes but if he's in then Bobby Dandridge is a must. Dandridge spent two years outplaying Dr. J in the 1978 and 1979 in the playoffs. .Also outplayed Gervin in 78 playoffs with superb defense.

      westy40 He did (outplay Doc and Ice, oftentimes). 2nd or 3rd best on Bucks' 71 champs. BEST player who put Bullets over the top in 78'. Sorry Elvin and Wes, Bobby D's versatility was the difference.
