As someone with german heritage it is real cool to see them fighting and historically this feels so accurate and adds a lot to the atmosphere, a lot of northern divisions were basically full of (germans/dutchmen ) as it used to be called.
For any of y’all who don’t know, the background song, mainly heard in the intro, was “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, a civil war era piece written by Julia Ward Howe after a visit with union troops during the thick of war.
M&B:NB one of my favorite mod-games! I also play Holdfast which I find to be a lot of fun, but this game is really something. Most realistic game out there, and seriously fun!
Seems like an accurate recreated battle taking place between 1861-1862...very sad and unfortunate command errors/confusion lead to union encirclement, followed by demoralizing route xD
They should make a game just like this, but should have if take place in Europe during the 1850, 1860s and 1870s, like the Austro Prussian war, and the Prussian war with Denmark... I think that'd be awesome...

A lot of krauts for an American Civil war reenactment, but maybe there was that many Germans during the actual civil war and I wasn't paying close attention to it in history class
Dell Two things going on there. One was that there WERE tons of Germans, massive numbers of them immigrated to the North in that time period (more Northerners are of German background than anything else) so they - actual first generation immigrants - were very heavily represented in the Union Army just as Irish were. The other thing is that modern Germans do have a large interest in the American Civil War, do both to a general interest in 1800s America (largely caused by their ethnic connections) and also because they have a taboo about celebrating their own military history, so they make up for it by focusing on other cultures. The US Civil War serves as a way for Germans to celebrate German military history without actually celebrating Germany.
