This needs to be played more across the country. Too many people forget that despite our differences, we're meant to be united together on some level. If we get too divided, we'll fall.

When I was in second grade, 1990-91, we stood up every morning and said the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang this song. That teacher was always my favorite, looking back, and Im so grateful to her for everything she taught me. ❤ 🇺🇸

Back when I was in high school, I was usually the only one who would stand for the pledge of allegiance, and sit down after the moment of silence, but they never played this song. I did have a friend ask how come I always stand for the flag.

In elementary school back in the 70s we would say the Pledge of Allegiance. One of my teacher's would also have us sing a song after. She was one of my favorite as well.

I'm old... my 5 th grade teacher in 1982 would have us lay our heads on our desk after lunch , she would turn the lights down low and read the Bible to us.
She got in trouble as 1 student parent complained cause she was J.Witness.
But this was the best teacher I ever had❤.
She wouldn't fail anyone cause it hurt her to much inside.. that wasn't so good but her heart was 1000%in right place.
We cleared an area in woods and made wagon decor out of wood and paper.. the cooks baked the pies for us and we had a Thanksgiving service in the woods with our parents invited.
That was prior to no kid left behind crap that destroyed education.
She even brought in a churn and we all had to make butter by hand for the meal.

Yes, Lee Greenwood is the older guy, and was the original recorder of the song. You may not have noticed but this was done totally a cappella - no instruments involved. There is a group of 5 in this (not wearing fatigues) who are an a cappella group called Home Free, which include the bass singer you raised your eyebrows at, the three bearded guys, and the beatboxer.

The weekend of 9-11 we raced in Memphis Tennessee and this song played constantly until the races started. On our way to Memphis from our home in Texas we saw so many American flags at peoples homes and even the small ones people put on their cars. It was such a patriotic time in the USA. 9-11 happened on Tuesday and this was Friday the 14th. Lee Greenwood was the first guy to sing on the video and yes he has an amazing voice

I help out at a Senior living Center and often bring in videos to meet the need. Today was our celebration of our 247th Independence Day. This same piece was the last and closing piece for the program. We went from 07/02/1776, the day of the actual vote, thru the reading of the full Declaration, Kate Smith singing "God Bless America" for the 1st time on the radio in 1938, a 1969 video of Red Skelton explaining his school boy understanding of the Pledge of Allegiance and ending with Lee Greenwood, HF and the Singing Sergeants of the USAF.

"you have these values that are unreachable ... " And then you pointed out that by trying for them we become our best selves. This is so true Seb. We are always going to disagree in this country but it is in the dialogue that we figure out the next step. I think we need all to work to stop letting the talking heads divide us into hating camps. Yes you count. Thanks for reminding us that our immigrants are our strength. Happy 4th of July.

The castle is a studio. It's amazing they did this in the middle of covid separated in four different locations. Adam (the beatboxer) usually lays his tracks last so he knows what needs added but I have to wonder if he laid his tracks first for this because Lee and the Singing Sergeants are used to singing to music unlike the guys of HF. Beautiful harmonies & collaboration only adds to the songs impact. Looking forward to more of your reactions. Some other patriotic songs to consider (in the rock genre): "The Star Spangled Banner" by Madison Rising, "Red, White & Blue" (the music video) by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "This Place Called USA" by Creed Fisher. I first heard this song, by Lee Greenwood, when I was an Air Force member, stationed in the Philippines in the '80's. And HOW I heard it was that Lee, himself, came there and sang it. The crowd went NUTS! They STILL go nuts. Now, this version, is done along with not just AF members, BUT my favorite group of all time, Home Free, whom I have followed for many years. They simply can't be beat. So, altogether, it brings a LOT of memories and pride!

Let’s remember that this was accomplished without any instruments. And, they were in different places. One of my favorite songs. My husband is a singer/songwriter and for years my autistic son believed that his dad wrote the song. It was so sweet. Best version of this song. I wish more people would listen to the lyrics.

Lee Greenwood still sounds fantastic and adding Home Free and the United States Air Force Singing Sargeants makes the song even more powerful!

When I was in boot camp for the Navy on one day all the drill instructors came into our room and began cycling us (putting us through calisthenics) this went on for 2 or 3 hours. When we were finished we were so hot and sweaty the room looked like a sauna, you could see steam coming off our heads. Then they played this song, to remind us of what we were there for. To this day I get goosebumps when I hear this song as would any other veteran!

I was living in Germany on an Army base during Desert Storm. When the soldiers were deployed, our preschoolers sang this at the ceremony beforehand. I was a preschool teacher and had to be stoic for them, but it was so moving.

Lee had a huge hit with this in the 80’s. He asked Home Free to join him and they got the US Air Force Singing Sergeants to join them. This was during Covid so they were in different cities. The building in Nashville was a recording studio. Adam (Home Free beatboxer) did a jet flyover at the end! How cool! Congrats on being a citizen!🤩

In 4 thy grade, forever ago, I decided that my talent show act would have the entire 4th grade stand on stage, hold hands, and sing this absolutely amazing song. We performed in front of the entire school, parents, and friends. We received a standing ovation. It breaks my heart to see how much had changed in our great nation. Now, if a class of elementary students did the same performance, the majority would call this some sort of "ism". Racism is definitely at the top of the list these days. I'm not saying all people, but I'd bet money on the majority. Shameful. 💔 God Bless America and all who love our country. Whether you were born here or not like my husband, who's in the process of becoming a citizen, that's the beauty of America. I will never understand the pure hatred of America and never will. If you despise the people that make up America, find somewhere else to live so you can live in "peace." (My point being, America is the foundation. It's We The People that make America great. 🇺🇸 And belated, congrats on your citizenship. (However, the government cronies are an entirely different conversion for another day.)

Another beautiful a cappella Collab with Home Free. Everything those guys touch is gold! The singing Sergeants are just icing on the cake. So many beautiful voices singing with so much pride! I actually prefer this version to the original, as Lee was able to sing this song the way he wanted to, and he nailed it!

When this song originally came out in 1984 I was in the Navy and stationed in Yokosuka Japan. We would sing this song all of the time. If we were out in a club on or off base and this song came on, the whole place would be singing. It was our connection to home. There were no international cell phones and there was no internet to communicate home.

I first heard this song in 1985, after graduating high school and thought….this needs to be nationwide. Impact is greater because my grandparents were all from Ireland 100 years ago…poor, oppressed by the British…they were brave enough to leave EVERYTHING knowing at the time they’d never see their parents again. My life is as it is because of them. 🇺🇸🦅🍻
