I'm sure someone has said it, but the anole you got from the pet store and the anoles they sent you are NOT the same and can very well kill each other. The ones you unboxed look like green anoles, they turn brown with stress but he will be back to green later most likely. I have all of these species wild in my area and yeah they don't look anything alike. Just take a look at their head shape and it'll be more clear.
She doesn't seem like she does much research, just "rescues" all these animals by buying them from a pet store or feeder company and then fake it till you make it or it dies...
Yes, you are correft, the singular brown anole she purchased CAN kill the green anole, but i used to keep wild caughf lizards and realease em the next day just to observe hkw they eat store insect feeders, and one time i houesd a brown anole with a green anole, and they did fine, the onlybway the brown anole would kill the green anole if it was relatively big and the anole was relativiky small, so it seems they only kill if there is a MAJOR size difference.
@@GlzeIIe well, I guess that could be true, but keeping them together for a day isn't the same as permanently cohabing them. As soon as one of them establishes the enclosure as its territory I doubt it'll leave the other one alone :/
I kept an bahama anole for 3 years and never knew most were sold as feeders in stores until recently. One of the first reptiles I ever kept. He was a great little lizard. Glad to see your keeping them as something more than just food. They have their own little personalities, are super cute, and are actually pretty tough. I think they'd be great first pets for kids.
@Austin Mark the reptile might not even feel bad but it could still harm them. Just like a person with hypothermia shouldn't be warmed up too quickly, despite how cold they feel.
I love these videos and for some reason I find it so soothing to watch you go from the general unpacking and explanation, through the cleaning, then the setup, and happy little animal at the end. It's such a satisfying process to see it all come together in the end.
CeceG I’ve never understood that lol, I keep snakes. They eat frozen/thawed mice and rats. I don’t want to keep a lizard that eats insects because they must be live fed. I have no problem with the fact that they eat live prey I just choose not to keep animals that must eat live prey. But how can you keep lizards or amphibians that eat live insects but then take issue with lizards being fed live?
Also, rainbow mealworms does a walkthrough their facility in Compton. They look pretty clean so I doubt they don’t take care of them. B rates are mainly birth defects and if cagemates fight.
I love that fact that you’re trying to give them a good home, but buying from a source that is specifically for feeding is increasing demand and they will only breed/capture more animals.
Don't apologize for giving info about the supplies you bought! It helps us so much! you definitely know what you are doing and it is nice to have someone to throw in some info about these things so we know best for our pets!
They have these all over my work ,and they are what turned me into a reptile lover. They are so smart and aware of everything. I know You will enjoy them very much.
Your in closure setup is amazing! Thank you for setting such a good example on how to properly care for all types of pets responsibly!! You are amazing! And We love you! Good luck with all your babies. And can we get a little more Leonidas! Please and thank you!
Love how a bunch of people give you advice about two separate species of anoles living together and how bad it could be and you don't even acknowledge it...
I'm so confused by it. She always gets these types of constructive criticisms and doesn't address them nor try to change her husbandry. Why would she buy sooo much stuff for her reptiles if she's doing it wrong? I'm genuinely confused
I'm a little shocked by it, and also the dangerous putting cold reptiles directly into a hot enclosure without first allowing them to sit at room temperature for a while first. I wouldn't be surprised if they died of shock
I have always been nervous around lizards, birds and insects. Watching you today with these animals has made me want to have new experiences with them. Regardless of my internal fears, it warms my heart that you given these feeder lizards homes instead of using them as feed. I would do the same thing. I have never been taught how to care for lizards nor have i gone out of my way to learn. i am so grateful for your posts as i am learning so much about animals i never thought i would. please continue these videos, they are very much appreciated!
My friend and I have green anoles, and they're actually native to where we live (South Carolina) and we use red clay soil for our substrate cause it holds humidity in really well, and we can get it from our yards. They love handling too, mine just chills on my shoulder when I work on stuff. Mine also likes over ripe strawberries as treats.
I was considering buying feeder house geckos from the same site (which I love btw), I was telling my husband all about them! I'm actually so happy to see this video. Starting it now so lord knows I'll prolly edit this comment.
The first lizard you added was a brown Cuban anole not a green anole they don't get along. Which is the reason you barely see green anoles in Florida anymore because the Cuban took over.
My 2 adult beardies are on walnut shell ‘sand’ they’ve never had impaction issues, if they get a little in their mouth while eating they pass it the next day, and my males femoral pores are never impacted, and they both have tons of rocks and logs to climb on so they’re not always on their sand. But I like to keep them on the sand because they like to dig in it and burry themselves in it when they sleep and I just didn’t feel right keeping them in unnatural tile or fake grass when I first got them
Okay, I love reptiles but I've never considered myself a reptile person. But seeing these anoles made my heart sing and now I'm thinking about doing some research on how to take care of them and maybe considering getting a few in the future. Thanks Kristen. 😂
Understood on why you think you made a mistake....But the breeder/shipper also clearly knows where they are sending these animals, and should include the proper amount of heat packs. Even if they are 'feeders', they should be treated better until the time comes. Glad u gave them a good home. *Question*: No Quarantine needed on lizards? (No pun intended given the current situation)
Thank you for doing this Kristen!!! I grew up with these little guys (Miami), spent my kidhood playing with them in my yard and they have such a special place in my heart!💚🦎💚 I live in Wisconsin now and I miss them😞
This channel and your beauty channel are the only channels I click the bell for. I love everything you do and stand for and are always SO informative. Thanks you!!!!
I do hope that company realizes even if it is a "feeder" lizard that is still has to arrive alive.. such bs in my opinion. would you ship live feeder rats or mice without a warmer? no, because most people buy live because that animal its being fed to REQUIRES live. same goes for live feeder lizards.
This is the first time I’ve seen one of your videos and I’ve now subscribed. I’m not a reptile owner, but I’m very passionate about environmentalism and proper animal care.
😍 What an amazing sweetie you are! These guys are SO adorable, for future reference letting them come to room temperature before basking will keep them from any shock, these guys seem very happy and hearty!
As i understand it, the ceramic fitting is for high heat bulbs so it doesn't melt if there is a malfunction, and the wattage recommendation on the light fixture is more to do with the rating of the fitting and how much power it can supply that it is to do with the reflector dome.
I live in Florida and I have 2 little lizard friends that hang out on my patio. They bask on the arm rest of my patio chairs and they’re so cute. I love seeing them every morning when I go to water my plants.
Get with a handy person or get handy yourself and build one. Loads of info online to help you do it cheaper. Sometimes you'll get lucky and they post for free or cheap on your local posting sites. I have gotten so many cool and awesome things for myself, my pets etc.
@@Caleenknow not sure how I never saw this but I gave him to a pet store near by. I researched the care and it would have needed flightless fruit flies and the only pet store that carried them was an hour bus ride from me. So it was feasible to keep it unfortunately.
Geeze this is bringing up memories! Found a 1" hatchling brown anole on a nursery plant, brought him home, and spent the next few months culturing fruit flies, then mealworms, building a bioactive enclosure with live plants and mister, timers for lights and UVB... ...and the little jerk's glaring at me right now two years later, flashing his colors at me because he's still Hangry lol.
We have alot of house geckos in our attic! I live in Texas so its definitely humid up there! My husband loves them. We see them every night in the spring and summer.
This was such a great video, it made me so happy. When they got into they're new enclosure they looked so much happier, and better it gave me happy tears ily
I had green anoles for years as a kid! They multiply like crazy! We kept ours in our dinning room so we could watch them from the kitchen and living room.
For the vines I love the magnetic plant holders by stroodies on Etsy, I like the gaurentee that the plants will stay on the glass. You just remove the suction cups and put on one part of the magnetic things and attach the other on the outside of the glass. Plus, people on Etsy make the cutest and coolest reptile decor, hides, bridges, etc.
Go to a farm supply store and buy brooder lamps made for chickens. They have ceramic sockets and can hold up to 250watts so they are good for all bulbs and CHE's. I just suggest some sort of wire mesh if your using MVB's as they are a little to long for these fixtures. They usually cost around $8 and they sell heat bulbs for them for like $3 but the wattage is high so be sure to check your temps and adjust your distance or thermosrat accordingly. Just some FYI for you and your viewers to safe a few dollars. They work great for large enclosures ie monitors etc.
Love that you bought feeders and gave them a home❤️...I have many snakes and lizards ...yet have bought feeder rats and given them homes as well. Nice setup btw.
Love the pink on the tip of your nose in the intro. Love how big your heart is to put so much care and effort into something as insignificant as a 'feeder' lizard. Those babies were adorable! Boss Lady 💗💚👑💗💚
This video is great for showing that fun little thing over looked by so many people get trapped into the impulse of getting a cheap or even free pet. Setting up a PROPER enclosure is costly!
It’s crazy how for some reason people think that smaller animals don’t matter. That goes for things like hamsters and rats to. It’s sad, an animal is an animal! Period. I bet they love their new home.❤️
I just upgraded my rat cage. Got them from the feeder bin where I buy my frozen snake feeders. They're really sweet, too. Really affectionate for feeder rats.
also why are you still housing your bearded dragon on sand, when multiple people on your old video (that is 2 years old) said to change it? Another question is why does the ball python have a red heat lamp? They can definitely still see that.
@@alextea495 sand is fine since it's very fine and small grains so if the dragon did eat it he would be fine, hed just poop it back out 👍and with the python why does it matter he can still see through the red light? (Btw I dont own any pythons so please educate me!)
@@maxwats7234 small grains = clumping together when wet = impaction For the ball python red lights damage their eyes since they can see more than us and if it's on during the night it messes with their sleep schedule. They should really only be on a deep heat projector or a heatmat. Although some people have gotten heat bulbs (non-colored) to work for them.
I also got some house geckos that were ment for feeding but I wanted to keep them as pets. I got four Hemidactylus platyurus but unfortunately three passed in a couple of weeks (due to parassites). I still have Lachesi, she is doing pretty good and she's super smart and cute! I love to know other people are keeping these kind of lizards as pets ❤
This video was super informational and it came at a really good time. I've been wanting to get an easy reptile enclosure so I could start teaching my nephew how to properly care for animals. I'm already well versed in hermit crab spoiling so now I can add this. Thank you!
Danielle O'Berry please do more research, I’ve not made it halfway through the video and she’s already had two false statements. I’m no expert but as an avid lover and rescuer of animals, I go by this rule. Research from 3 reputable sources about care and go from there. If they state generally the same thing you should be fine but never stop researching. We learn so much about these critters more and more everyday.
Hi Kristen, I love your Video's, Thank You! Someone may have posted this info already, but... I believe the reason for the porcelain sockets on the dome light fixtures is because porcelain can take a lot of heat. If you use a normal dome light fixture from say the hardware store, the fixture can melt or become brittle and break.
Helpful hint for most reptiles that need humidity , yet , can not be wet . Like Pythons , Skinks , others very wet charcoal at the bottom , some plastic crate /light diffuser wrapped in vinyl window screen to keep substrait separated , lightly moistened substrait on top . Rehydrate the charcoal anytime , poke a funnel down into it pour in desired amount .Charcoal will never mold > Less need to spray , and healthier for some types
Loove lizards. We here only have one type of viviparous lizard here as the warm season is so short. You areso interesting, and I love how you care for your critters. Subbed.
I’m in Alaska and had a leopard gecko shipped yesterday. Was so scared because it was only 30 degrees and we just got a weather advisory for snow and wind that night. Thankfully the hot pack kept him warm and the fed ex place was warm. He’s now ripping apart his cage and being a moody little baby :)
Uh, you probably shouldn’t do that... seriously , all kinds of issues Including introducing diesease / parasites to native populations. If you feel guilty about crickets, set them up nice and breed them yourself. You really can’t release captive bred insects into the wild .
I am so sad to hear about the first order. But I do think that it was very nice of the company to send you more on them. I think they are so stinking adorable. You are making me want some now lol.
I bought a feeder rat, named her Tina from Bobs Burgers and she lived for almost 3 years and was so sweet. Not as cuddly as “fancy” rats but still so fun
Females tend to be less cuddly in general. Feeder rats are the same species as fancy rats, they're just not always the cute colors people will go for with pets. It's awesome she lived that long because they're often inbred pretty badly.

Dude the brown ones are the females and the greens are the males unless they are Cuban anoles
Mika often the “establishing” part is when the anole kills the other anole.
I kept an bahama anole for 3 years and never knew most were sold as feeders in stores until recently. One of the first reptiles I ever kept. He was a great little lizard. Glad to see your keeping them as something more than just food. They have their own little personalities, are super cute, and are actually pretty tough. I think they'd be great first pets for kids.
you should never put a cold reptile directly on their basking spot... let them warm to room temp first
@Austin Mark the reptile might not even feel bad but it could still harm them. Just like a person with hypothermia shouldn't be warmed up too quickly, despite how cold they feel.
Austin Mark unless it falls into shock in which case it cannot move.
And quarantine them!
I love these videos and for some reason I find it so soothing to watch you go from the general unpacking and explanation, through the cleaning, then the setup, and happy little animal at the end. It's such a satisfying process to see it all come together in the end.
This makes me so sad I’ve had green anoles as pets before and they are so cute and fun to have I didn’t even know they get fed to other animals lol
They are very fun to watch! I actually love to make my espresso in the morning and go upstairs and just sit in a chair and watch them :)
Kristenleannimal omg!! You replied!! I love watching you!! 💕
Its horrible, sweet little things.
It is sad but some reptiles eat other smaller reptiles, not just little lizards but some are snake eaters.
It helps us so much! you definitely know what you are doing and it is nice to have someone to throw in some info about these things so we know best for our pets!
all those feeder lizards are everywhere here in Florida. they always manage to get in the house, and the cats have a hayday chasing them around.
We used to buy feeder guppies. The first generation you buy is brown and gray, but their babies and grandbabies are always colorful.
That’s really interesting actually!
The ceramic socket is needed for heat lamps because the plastic sockets can melt or catch fire if they get too hot.
They have these all over my work ,and they are what turned me into a reptile lover. They are so smart and aware of everything. I know You will enjoy them very much.
i've always wanted to do this as well! so glad they have u as a momma
I love it! I highly recommend it! They're very cute and entertaining!
Maybe she can't afford it?
@@savannahdragons3282 if she can't afford it then she doesn't deserve the reptiles. If she is preparing for a reptile she should do it right.
I'm a little shocked by it, and also the dangerous putting cold reptiles directly into a hot enclosure without first allowing them to sit at room temperature for a while first. I wouldn't be surprised if they died of shock
Nice
I have always been nervous around lizards, birds and insects. Watching you today with these animals has made me want to have new experiences with them. Regardless of my internal fears, it warms my heart that you given these feeder lizards homes instead of using them as feed. I would do the same thing. I have never been taught how to care for lizards nor have i gone out of my way to learn. i am so grateful for your posts as i am learning so much about animals i never thought i would. please continue these videos, they are very much appreciated!
watching lucy close her little eyes when she started getting love, made my heart melt. 😍
I'm not sure how anyone could watch these videos of you and your animals and think they're not well cared for! They are so loved and spoiled!! ❤️
Which is the reason you barely see green anoles in Florida anymore because the Cuban took over.
is your bearded dragon on sand? doesn't that cause impact on their femoral pores?
It does cause femoral pore impaction:(
Yes :( you should never put a beardy on sand
Art Carlotta as long as a beardie has ample rough surfaces to rub against it probably won’t develop impact ion in the femoral pores.
My 2 adult beardies are on walnut shell ‘sand’ they’ve never had impaction issues, if they get a little in their mouth while eating they pass it the next day, and my males femoral pores are never impacted, and they both have tons of rocks and logs to climb on so they’re not always on their sand. But I like to keep them on the sand because they like to dig in it and burry themselves in it when they sleep and I just didn’t feel right keeping them in unnatural tile or fake grass when I first got them
I am assuming they are a female, her name is Lucy.
I grew up with these little guys (Miami), spent my kidhood playing with them in my yard and they have such a special place in my heart!💚🦎💚 I live in Wisconsin now and I miss them😞
Wisconsin here too!!!!
Now I really want to do this, I know its the circle of life and everything but those faces just make my heart melt
Warmers are an option at shipping. She chose, twice apparently, not to pay for them. That's 100% on her.
No one is afraid of you. NO ONE!! Lol ahhh that cracked me up.
I live in Florida and I have 2 little lizard friends that hang out on my patio. They bask on the arm rest of my patio chairs and they’re so cute. I love seeing them every morning when I go to water my plants.
I take in small “exotics” rescues/surrenders and I need one of those custom cages but wow the prices 😱 ....I get it though. .. maybe someday ..
Get with a handy person or get handy yourself and build one. Loads of info online to help you do it cheaper. Sometimes you'll get lucky and they post for free or cheap on your local posting sites. I have gotten so many cool and awesome things for myself, my pets etc.
Angel Face I agree. That’s what I been doing. All my pets have nice enclosures. But these custom cages are gorgeous 😍 lol
start a youtube channel ; )
@@christopherrector7461 Agreed, could be a cool channel! Rescuing animals and stuff, always something interesting going on. Constant content.
I found an anole in my house and I live in Canada. Turns out he had hitchhiked on a plant to my house! It was an inch big 😭
Looks like you have a new pet.
What did you so with it
Where do you live in Canada? What area?
@@Caleenknow not sure how I never saw this but I gave him to a pet store near by. I researched the care and it would have needed flightless fruit flies and the only pet store that carried them was an hour bus ride from me. So it was feasible to keep it unfortunately.
@@yorgundusunur6806 I'm in Ontario, Canada. Near Toronto :)
Thank you for always being kind to animals, no matter the species. 💚💛🧡
Luci is doing so good! Wow!
Shes such a kind hearted and down to earth person 😊💓
The cage looks GREAT!
Btw, the room you got set up... GOALS AND DREAMS, Lovie!! It's so beautiful. 🥰

@fuba what?..
Thank you for sharing. I love how educational your videos are.
They look so thankful
Love that you bought feeders and gave them a home❤️...I have many snakes and lizards ...yet have bought feeder rats and given them homes as well. Nice setup btw.
Love the pink on the tip of your nose in the intro. Love how big your heart is to put so much care and effort into something as insignificant as a 'feeder' lizard. Those babies were adorable! Boss Lady 💗💚👑💗💚
This video is great for showing that fun little thing over looked by so many people get trapped into the impulse of getting a cheap or even free pet. Setting up a PROPER enclosure is costly!
I could never feed those lizards to something they are way to cute
I dont have any repitles but watching your videos makes it look like so much fun
If you keep all of the anoles together, the Brown Anoles might kill the Green Anole..
These are wild here in FL. I take care of them outside with clean water on my plants, “snacks”, etc. I love them!
I love that Anole tank! They look so happy
I hope that there aren't 2 males in that tank, you're going to witness a lot of fighting if there is.
also why are you still housing your bearded dragon on sand, when multiple people on your old video (that is 2 years old) said to change it? Another question is why does the ball python have a red heat lamp? They can definitely still see that.
@@alextea495 sand is fine since it's very fine and small grains so if the dragon did eat it he would be fine, hed just poop it back out 👍and with the python why does it matter he can still see through the red light? (Btw I dont own any pythons so please educate me!)
@@maxwats7234 Hmm. Do more research on sand and bearded dragons.
@@jaisonfire1 oh i haven't done any research I've just watched videos on them (i also dont have a bearded dragon😂)
@@maxwats7234 small grains = clumping together when wet = impaction
For the ball python red lights damage their eyes since they can see more than us and if it's on during the night it messes with their sleep schedule.
Nice cage setup, very jungle-y!!! What fun to watch!!!
I just got my 1st leopard gecko and I'm so excited
I just love watching you rescue these animals, Thankyou for making these videos ❤️❤️
They are so cute and sweet, glad they got a good home
Helpful hint for most reptiles that need humidity , yet , can not be wet . Like Pythons , Skinks , others
very wet charcoal at the bottom , some plastic crate /light diffuser wrapped in vinyl window screen to keep substrait
separated , lightly moistened substrait on top . Rehydrate the charcoal anytime , poke a funnel down into it pour in desired amount .Charcoal will never mold > Less need to spray , and healthier for some types
Just came across your channel and subbed as soon as I felt your compassion for those amazing animals
Yay! Just coming in clutch with all these uploads 💕👍🏼 right when I need them!
woo wooooo!!!
Thank you custom cages!
Awe they will be livin in high cotton now lady. You are so wonderful to your animals.
Loove lizards. We here only have one type of viviparous lizard here as the warm season is so short. You areso interesting, and I love how you care for your critters. Subbed.
Fascinating. Anoles are wild/native to where I live and I have loads in my garden!
Awe, they must have been so cold to let you pick them up! So glad they got a good home with you! 💕
Any one else want to go get an Annole now? I'm tempted to buy them and give them a good home.
Wait when you unboxed the anoles I saw 3 but you only put 2 in the cage shouldn’t there have been 4 not 3??
Oh Kristen..that was really cool. Such a good mama!!!
I bought and raised a couple baby feeder rats, loved them babes
Omg when I had a leopard gecko, I used to buy bags of crickets and set them free during the summer!!! It helped me feel less guilty. Lol! ♥️
Uh, you probably shouldn’t do that... seriously , all kinds of issues Including introducing diesease / parasites to native populations. If you feel guilty about crickets, set them up nice and breed them yourself. You really can’t release captive bred insects into the wild .
It's so sad that these little guys get fed to other animals! I can't wait until the next video comes out!
I am in Alabama, we get both in our home all the time. They are so cute but a pain in the ass to catch to put back outside. lol Little guys are quick!
In AL, I always have blue tailed skinks!!
@@Mizbit skinks in the house??? That's so cool
I am so sad to hear about the first order. But I do think that it was very nice of the company to send you more on them. I think they are so stinking adorable. You are making me want some now lol.
Oh those are just so cute! Love how much you've been uploading on your channels 👍
you have a heart of gold keep up the amazing work and pet vids :)
I live in Hawaii and both anoles and house geckos are everywhere here
I don't know what comes out of your taps but in belgium the water quality from the tap is perfect for reptiles 🙃
Watch Snake Discovery for actually, good information about husbandry for reptiles. A lot of this is just.... not right 🤦♀️😭
Kylee Rassman - a lot of it actually can cause health issues.
@Kylee Rassman surviving is not thriving. Fine doesn't equate to being good for the animals health and for the longevity of life.
Snakediscovery is soooo good
what does husbandry really mean is it something about husbands
So... did your monitor chew all those holes in your sweater? Love it lol.
My sister and I had 2 green anole lizards as kids. They use to crawl up out arms and lay in our hair to nap. 😂😂
