I had a real cute Japanese " cruise n carry" 2 HP air cooled. Weghed 12lb, could hold it at arms length. Broke my heart when it fell off the back of the boat somewhere outside Fowey(UK) harbour entrance😢
Mercury was still in their "i cant choose a color" phase when the mark motors were still around, that is the original paint color, but obviously the tiller bracket is from something else. You'd think they would've remedied that being a museum. Shame they didn't have any 60's and 70's mercs, they were the best.
Hi Mate, Thanks for your input 👌 I actually had not seen that shaped top cowl before which was interesting. All the best and happy new year 🎆 cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎
What an amazing collection! You seem to have owned quite a few of them. What with your experience of outboards, I was wondering if you could give me your opinion of parsun outboards? Only I have an opportunity to buy a 5hp 2 stroke parsun at a good price but many reviews are a bit vague and ie “a friend had one and wasn’t impressed with its performance and was noisy” lol….. I know you get what you pay for but are they good enough to get a few reliable years out of them? Thanks aussie boat man. Steve from london
Hi Mate, Yeah, it was an amazing collection fit sure 👌 Well in my experience I have found nothing but problems with Parson outboards, you are better off buying an old Tohatsu or Japan built Mercury. Parson are a copy of the Japan built Tohatsu for the smaller motors and also a copy of some of the older Yamaha for larger hp, poor copies at that with low quality alloys and electronics. cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 🍻
I turned wrenches my whole life but never touched a boat or outboard but got interested in learning marine. And picked up a evinrude 8hp. I really appreciate your knowledge you share with us. I hope to make my first little race dingy this summer. That museum is a mechanics dream to see the evolution of them. Keep up the good work!
Hi Mate, Thanks for your encouragement champ 👍 That’s awesome your getting into outboards and making a race dinghy will be so much fun. Outboards are so good to work on, it’s all right there in front of you and not hard on your back. all the best, Aussie Boat Guy 😎
Its great to see the good old outboards from the past mate and in awesome condition good job. And a happy new year buddy. Cant wait to see more videos in 2024 yoo-hoo.😀🙂 Reply

What a variety. Very cool. Never seen anything like that old ELTO/Evinrude rudder-type outboard before.

Hi Mate,
That’s heart breaking 😢
I remember those little things.
Also know the sadness of dropping a motor off the back.

i find the idea of an outboard museum funny, because where im from outboards are so expensive and people are so cheap that people still use these
Love it 😂
Another point is that they used to actually make them to last too.
Cheers 🍻
