I've never used pinlock. When I had a full face helmet (years ago), the visor closed with a press stud on either side, if I left one stud undone, it didn't mist up, regardless of the weather. At that time, I had a white helmet and wore a Dayglo yellow Sam Browne belt over a black jacket and I used to ride in all weathers. Quite a few drivers suddenly slowed down when they saw me in their mirrors on a dark blue Triumph 3TA! I always thought that was really funny because they can't have looked very hard.

Winter riding is always a challenge, I used to commute 120 miles twice a week by motorcycle back in the late seventies when heated gear ,such as it was then, next to useless, the modern kit is brilliant not that I commute now, carbon elements and guaranteed for lfe(Keis), one of my favourite items for colder weather riding are Salopetes, keeps the midriff and Kidney area cosy. Thanks for the video which gives us a gentle reminder about winter woes on a motorcycle, have a great Christmas and all the best for 2025. Cheers

Thanks Derek. I used to ride from Hartlepool to Cramlington in all weathers as I didn’t have a car. I remember still being frozen at 10 in the morning. As you say modern kit is great and makes all year riding possible weather permitting. Have a great Christmas too.

Better off with a hi-vis pink jacket, as its a colour that doesn't occur in nature. The hi-vis yellow can blend in with certain backgrounds, and because of its high use it's a colour that we unintentionally ignore in our subconscious. Plenty of studies about it, which are very interesting to read.

Yes they talked about it on a biker down course. But I can’t see myself in pink.

I have a R&G Shock Tube that during the winter months I spray ACF50 onto and then put around the rear shock of my Tiger 1050 Sport. It just keeps any salt and crud off of the shock until I take the tube off in the spring.

Great idea I will get one as that area always gets covered.

I wouldnt depend on the orange or yellow hi viz jackets to be seen, even better is the 3M Diamond reflective tape you can put on your helmet and bike.

Does it come off easily when not needed anymore. I have seen the Oxford rain jackets that look sort of light grey but when hit with headlights they really reflect it back and light up like a Christmas tree.

@upnorthbiker yes it peels off, im putting white diamond strip on the back of my white helmet and red tape around the rear brake light. And if I get a tailbag putting it on that too

could you make a video or suggestions where to use ACF50 in weak spots from rust, oxidation. thanks

Hi that would be tricky as each bike will be different it is important to do the underside of the bike and the bottom of the fork yokes plus go over every expose bolt that was covered up by what you used to protect tyres and brakes. Also under the petrol tank. There is another video on my channel about this in more detail

Great video, XCP clearcoat or ACF50 are great products but they do burn off, I use Autobrite engine protectant which is especially good on the pipes as it slowly burns off, it's good for about 5 decent journeys. Anyone else with a tip or two, I'd love to hear them. Always learning. Cheers

I’ve not tried the autobrite product. I do use some of their stuff but not that one. Ceramic coating is always a good idea on metal parts and some can handle exhaust temperatures
