It would be helpful and intuitive to see movement on the color plate when you talk about color elements such as Chrome, Value, Tones, etc. Currently there is a disconnection between what you said and what I could see. Thanks.
Thanks Quang. I taught these concepts shortly after learning them as a way to practice what I was learning. Since then, I’ve learned a lot. Thanks for watching.
Hey, lets say I have a list of color palettes and I display them on the left so the users can pick/click a color palette and in the right there is a very lightweight version of the landing page the user is setting up as a preview, it is a common scenario that the user picks a color combination and see how it looks on the preview and then accepts the changes. Well, the problem that I have is that I can tell which is the main color learning from this video but that is conceptually speaking, Adobe Color tool revealed another trick, the center color of the resulting swatch corresponds to the main color, bravo, but how do I know which on the list corresponds to the secondary and accent colors? Is there a pattern to read the color palettes that I am missing out? It is really difficult if there isn't one. I was thinking that an additional UI after selecting the palette is asking the user which of them it is going to be the primary, secondary, accent and still there are a couple of them I would have to guess what they will be used for or, again, ask the user.
Thanks for the comment Yamel. Typically, if I am getting feedback on a color palette from users, I don’t make the user choose from a list of color palettes, rather I give them a few options (usually 3) to look at and let them choose their favorite of the 3. Whether you’re the owner or product designer on the project, you and the stakeholders should know the brand you’re trying to create and it really should be the internal team choosing these secondary and accent colors. You then would want to validate them with users, but I wouldn’t be concerned about trying to get this granular when user testing. It’s more important that you found out if the product/design meets their needs from a usability perspective in my opinion. I hope this helps.
Weldone. Quick feedback: Your tutorial would have been nicer if you didn't just read from the material but spoke to it and elucidated. It was harder understanding some of your definition phrases especially under color schemes
Yep, I understand. Appreciate the feedback. I probably wouldn’t do videos like these again unless I charged for them because to shoot a good video like this would take me 30 hours or so of work which I don’t have the time to devote to these kinds of videos unfortunately.
short and super helpful! thank you so much!
You are amazing and I really wish you success on youtube
Thanks Brendan!
