It's amazes me that the only people who ever have a problem with the way Marine Corps recruit training is conducted, are those who have never and would never attempt it. Ask any Marine and they will tell you recruit training was a bitch but they are thankful for the drill instructors who made there 13 weeks at MCRD San Diego or parris Island hell.
Fuck yeah what this guy said!
John Schultz :
That's the same the other armed forces Basic Training.
I was a stupid private and had my @$$ smoked many times but you learn from it and it makes you a better soldier and pay attention to detail, especially during combat.
John Schuldheisz we are all stupid privates at one point lol.
+John Schultz Rah
John Schultz, eloquently stated!
You don't have time to think about quitting as USMC boot camp because you're more worried about not getting destroyed by a DI...
You aren't taught to quit. It isn't in the curriculum.
That's how one marine explained it to me.
That’s really not true at all. A lot of fucked up shit goes on there and that shouldn’t that’s already against the rules but after the first forming days is when you won’t see anyone else truly quit. Usually they say they are suicidal or homicidal and get sent to MHU where they are sent to RSP then home. After Training day one the only people who usually go home are people like me that get fucking shafted by the Marine Corp after being hurt or people who really shouldn’t be there.
@@mcbruin7774 whatever man I was worried about sleep and peanut butter packets. RIP to the dude who got thrown in a dryer
The DI at 2:00 has the best 8 point cover I have ever seen
I thought the same thing... he was a SDI SSgt Nichols.
@@leemoore9933
Thanks 👌
It's entirely possible that the recruiter lied, but SSgt. Nichols still turned out to be one helluva Marine.
"Recruiter" and "liar" are synonymous!! lol
Yes he is. He was my DI when I was a boot. He was hardcore for sure and now when I look back on it, that shit was fun.
People will do more to avoid pain than to seek pleasure. These guys understand that better than anyone 👌
0:23 I bet this guy always had batteries in all his flashlights for the rest of his life.
SSgt. Nichols is ALL MARINE. I bought E.O.E.C. and he is the most squared away Marine I have ever seen. Semper Fi SSgt.
Not hard to recognize the DEEP psychological reasons behind the brutal elements of the training. Very impressive.
When I was in boot camp my platoon created a form for war formation that involved our shortest recruit running up the formation and yelling "RETREAT!" Well one night at about 0400 that same kid yelled "RETREAT!" in his sleep and woke everyone up
One of my high school teachers years ago was in the special forces he told us that he slept threw artillery fire unto their base.
From an Army Veteran, Respect.
I think everyone said oops once or twice” yea lol.
4:07 "Son of a bitch!!!!!!!!" Hahaha
There are a lot of people who need this, or any other military boot camp.
God bless him, hopefully he is enjoying his retirement
He was 45 when you wrote that.
A lot of time has gone by, a lot of those recruits in this video who didn’t quit were subjected to some serious shit. I thank you for your service. I’m worried about the current generations and the way the core is going.
as a jarhead in Vietnam 1969 i never met a rich kid, they all got draft deferments from rich parents or who knew politicians. only poor and middle class fight our wars, may be the next conflict the politicians adult youth should go first , this would stop our world conflicts very fast. semper fi.
Well said!
That's why the draft is gone
Respect!! I joined the National Guard but have a huge respect for Marines my good friend is one!!!!
Yes
0:36 MY MYY MYYY. THIS RECRUIT SIR lol I’m dead 😂
The clip that was taken from is actually a bit wholesome
This should replace the department of education.
Nah, I rather drop dead than serve the corrupt government we have now.
The DOE is already a failure. Failure producing more failures. Sounds logical.
***** If you're gonna insult me, at least spell my name right -_-
***** Don't you have a useless war to die in?
juanloko2
Even if there is a purpose/cause worth dying for, you on the other hand would be a great residual of men in reaping the fruits of other men who actually have the actionable fortitude to preserve one's way of life.
watching with "cc" on is hilarious. I thought it would be English subtitles, but instead it's trying to make out English words from the foreign language based on sound.
RAHHH!!!! Gotta love this shit!! 3rd BN, Kilo Co., Plt 3055 (Sep-Dec 2006) right here! I’d do it again just for shits and giggles..... call me fuckin crazy but this experience will DEFINITELY change your life forever! Always Faithful.
Out standing Ssgt.... GREAT Interview...
A cycle is one complete 13 week interval. From receiving to graduation day. The group that you get received with make up your series. Because there are so many, you may be split into many different platoons, same battalion. The only time you switch Drill Instructors is from receiving to pick up, and if, ever, you are put into MRP (medical rehab plt) PCP (personal conditioning plt) or RSP (recruit separation plt) Hope that helps. Semper Fi.
Great interview, interesting to hear the diverse questions brought up.
Guys if you liked this, support SSgt Nichols and purchase the DVD!!
Semper FI!
$1000 signing bonus! I'd have paid $1000 to just go to Paris Island! I knew from about age 10 I was going to be a US Marine one day; been out 21 years now but still miss it. I loved boot camp and was actually sad the day I graduated and had to leave P.I.
Bs story
ProjecthuntanFish 1k? I just signed for 10k for 88m mike in the army. I leave in March!
Just like me wanted to be in marines since 10
@@carnage6662 how's that Army life treating ya? 10k worth it or do you say one shoukd not let money be a deciding factor on their dreams??
Anthony Cabella youll end up making more in the army than civilian life... the bonus is just that: a bonus.
Great interview. I think you described what training is all about very good.
I’m shipping out in 2 weeks to San Diego to become one of the few and the proud! Wish me luck
Nate Cisneros good luck!! my son left for bootcamp last week! stay strong!
It’s crazy how he’s probably getting itd right now
FUCKING BOOT
Nate Cisneros did u make it
Did you make it?
Thank you for your service, sir.
sure we did, like when he instructing the pugil sticks, and swiming course.
DI Martinez is a beast too.
Real talk towards the end 💯
Former Army. Love your vids brother.
I remember when we would be out on that pt field, whenever a plane would fly over us, the drill instructors would make us yell as loud as we could to "blow it out of the sky", because there was no way in hell the plane was allowed to be louder than us lmao.... the things they make you do 😅 sometimes bootcamp can be pure comedy, but in a hardcore way that only the marines know how to be.
Good stuff SSGT Nichols.
My grandson is in Charlie CO right now graduating June 6, 2014, anniversary of D-Day~ OOHAH!!
Shelley OBrien I was Charlie Company. 1st Batallion Platoon 1091.
Update?
Oohah? That Army??
SDI Sandercock is one badass Marine.
That's where I went to went to basic training that's good shit right there.
I've tried to express that same notion so many times (although usually it's prefaced by stories of how horrible it was), but it really can't be done with words. In reality...about half way through, when they suddenly asked for volunteers to go to the pit and I instinctively raised my hand, that's when shit started to get really hilarious.
"Son of a Bitch!!" Perfect pause in their interview.
“Great stuff , AATW!”
The perfect 8 point cover 😂
Probably teaches more important things than any college in the world
with all do respect ssgt parris island is the best place to train recruits
Beautiful, Best videos on UA-cam
man i don’t understand how you didn’t volunteer to become a Marine Raider. Cause you would’ve been a good one
how is this man so damn spot on when talking about recruiting
You went in with your brother? that's awesome I'd love to compete for stuff against my brother and everyone else in recruit training.
SSgt. Nichols if you see this may you please get back to me on how to get my eight point cover to look like yours because its the most perfect cover I have ever seen. Semper Fi
marine training is a living hell..
Jessie Johnson not at all.
3rd herd Paris Island oct 89- -jan 90, it was living hell until one day nothing bothered me anymore. Semper Fi
It makes a man out of you so if you think this is hell, you ain’t seen nothin yet!
All you have to do is listen. It's easy as long as you do that but some people cant grasp the concept of doing what they're told the correct way.
@@rockyblaq510 YES it was. I ENJOYED IT
Hard to believe its been 23 years since Charlie Co 1046 with you, Maranan and Benke \m/
good interview.
Graduated MCRD June 2001 platoon 1085. SDI SSgt Carter. I was platoon high PFT. The most important 13 weeks of my life. I ran into my SDI in the fleet at Camp Hansen Okinawa. Literally talked to him at POA and he was looking at me like I was crazy but I couldn't help it haha. My body could not get out of the POA.
Again, what is your opinion regarding the new ways of new Military recruits being trained today? (2023)
He says it on his website
I joined the Navy when RTC/NTC San Diego was still open. That was in 1985. The planes form the airport were the worst part as they were low and loud.
HOLLYWOOD!! We got hills 💪
0 humidity 0 sandfleas lol, had to do it...
@@joshsalmons1867 at least we don't fall out on hill humps
Danish tv show reporting about Marine bootcamp - STATION 2.
Man, I wish I could have done that as a Flight Commander, but instead I had to be patient with my cadets. I also couldn't yell at them to much. but at least we still got the job done.
Nice articulation during this interview! OohRah!
What is a cycle? Is it a group of recruits that you train from day one to graduation day or is it phase in training were they are with one DI then move on to the next phase with a diffrent DI? Thanks for your time and much respect to you and your Brothers and Sisters in Arms!!!
Damn, you posted this question 10 years ago and nobody was kind enough to answer you.
Let's remedy this and make it right... a cycle is an entire training phase from day 1 to graduation date for a bootcamp platoon. Recruits will have the same drill instructors from training day 1 all the way til graduation.
@fetsko21 my cousin who was in the Corps during the 80's.. he told me get a cover block and lightly wet the cover on the inside and out with warm water and place the cover block in place and leave it to dry..it works cause im meeting the Commandant tomorrow so my cover looks perfect right now
I was army but can't help but watch these marine training videos😅
4:07 “son of a bitch!” 🤣
Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. Bible prophecies are continuing to be fulfilled. Life and love are miracles from God each day.
Best thing I did is earn the title of United States Marine! And I will take that to the grave with the greatest honor! Semper Fi to all my fellow Devil Dogs past, present and future!
I took book camp with 101 Airborne Div. ( Army) then to Armor training Ft. Knox Ky. I never seen another drill instructor or wanted too. In Vietnam officers would jump enlisted men for not saluteing them ,returning from Ia Durang Valley I had this problem.
It is called boot camp and the army doesn't have boot camp. We have basic training. And we don't have Drill Instructors. We have Drill Sergeants.
101st had a boot camp? Really? You sure about that?
Army is butter soft...hot butter soft you
SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!!! Lol
I lost it too when the DI yelled that during the hump. hahahahah
He isn't in the Marine Corps anymore
MCRD SD, Nov 1983 Plt 3089. I will never again fear a danger above any degree of failure. My SDI engraved that like no tomorrow.
How do you know. Are you in the Marines?
What amazes me. Truly is that despite that not everyone is not built the same. Those that have legitimate problems later in life, disabilities, if you will. Will not be fairly compensated by the very same country they swore to protect. Murica. Land of the Rich. Home of the Privileged.
When you keep getting sniped on C.O.D online 4:07
I had great DIs. Selection and training is first rate.
Ohhhhh so that's why drill instructors yell
SEMPER FI.
Outstanding
I like SDI Sandercock yelling at that recruit, who pussyed out of the course, while holding the flashlight in his face.
I think SDI Sandercock is more hardcore...
I went to parris Island, they are 2 very different places
Is the Staff Sgt. getting permission from DOD to broadcast his videos?
Published after he was out
Does anyone have the source video for the clip at 37 seconds?
+Michael Yack from the movie "Ears Open, Eyeballs Click"
I was able to watch this video because I understood every other word
alpha co. 1st. btl. platoon 1081 mcrd san diego, ohhrraa.
Since when do marines have signing bonuses?
I'm not sure about back in 94 or 95. But when I enlisted in 2006, I got a red t shirt with the emblem on it, and a vhs on boot camp.
Usually in regards to the Corps, certain MOSs that need billets filled may have a sign on bonus. For example someone enlisting for EOD (explosives disposal ). In most cases however you won't be offered a bonus.
Now there are re enlistment bonuses available. When I was in, I remember my squad leader re enlisted into EOD with a 90k bonus, but he already had 4 years combat training compared to a kid fresh out of Boot, which makes him more of an assest.
I hope thus answered your question.
I got a vhs copy of full metal jacket and a vhs tape from paris island to show my parents. That was my signing bonus in 89. 😂
Right! When I went in all the branches where giving thousands to all the other branch enlistees, Marine Title is what I wanted though
iz blood pressure a problem here?
I'm PSR Marines
Well said.
Why can I understand what the interviewer is saying
I was thinking the same thing. talk about starching...
Truth be known he already knew the questions before he was interviewed if I know the military.
Haha San Diego, Hollywood Marines.
Try out Paris Island in July. The sand fleas alone will make you rethink your life.
I thank GOD for BEING A MARINE!!! URAAAHAAA SEMPERFI.......
Yes, the best
The best within the USMC, that is.
@akaRicepickeR lol probably brand one new + iron + maybe some starch hahaha
Ooh RAH !!! SEMPER FI MARINE CORPS 3/3 KILO CO 1048 MCRD SAN DIEGO '94 they lie big time training cams on them (DI) y@'ll dial it down :D
I’m just thinking about some guy in some tiny European village watching him yell at the guy on the ground and just shitting himself.
whats languaje its speaking the presentator ??
+marcel coma I think it's Danish.
Dutch
What language is that?!?
That E-6 loves to talk with his dam neck.
jaiii i am from denmark and i want to join :)
All of the yelling and stress is supposed to give you a taste of the fog of war. When the sh%t is hitting the fan you snap back to your training and you are able to get your military bearing. All of the branches do the same but to a lesser degree because the Marines are the first to go and the last to know! Im former Army and I understand it
