    I wanted to be able to change the tires myself and I did it, was so proud, then the mower wouldn't go forward or reverse. Your video saved me time, effort, money, and my own self-esteem. Thank you!

    OMMFG! THANK YOU! I changed my tire, noticed it wouldn't go in forward or reverse. Thought the belt had come off. Replaced belt. Still nothing. Found this little bar in the garage where I changed to tire, had NO IDEA what it was. Saw your video and put the little bar back in and I was up and running again. THANK YOU AGAIN!

    You sir are a hero! Went from sad dad to bad dad after watching this video. The level of frustration when this happens is pretty high, and it is such a small detail. The engineering design by John Deere could have been better on in my opinion but glad it was an easy fix.

    Thank you so much for this video!!
    And sharing this information'' today I was cutting on the exact same lawnmower. When I lost all power to go forward and reverse'' my Dad happened to be about 100 yards away' from me and it was his mower, I didn't want him to think I broke it? so thanks to UA-cam I quickly'' googled it. and came across your video and went to work, it was the exact same problem' my Dad had a disappointing look on his face when he seen me working on it, and by the time he came I said Dad I Already Fixed It!! God bless you!! Thanks for the video..

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! Like many others, I was totally stumped when I took the wheel off my L110, had a slow flat repaired, put it back on, and . . . . no drive! Took it off again, examined it, put it back . . . still no drive! In desperation I Googled something about lost drive after changing wheel, and WHAM! . . . there you are, my saviour! Such a simple thing, and when I went back to the mower there was the axle key on the ground! I had thought it was just a bit of twig and had ignored it, totally oblivious to how important it was! Thank you so much again, you saved me a lot of hassle and expense loading it on the trailer, taking it to the repair shop, probably paying a hefty charge, and bringing it back home . . . all for a piece of twig :)

    Hi Buck, greetings all the way from Ireland, my Dear John wouldn't go forward or back, checked the belts and drive bypass pin on the rear, all good, next stop I checked UA-cam and like the guy just below, your video came up first. And like yours, mine had just had a flat tyre (tire?) and I had taken the wheel to my local garage to have it repaired. It dawned on me that I hadn't tried to drive the lawn tractor since so I took the wheel off again and lo and behold, the pin was missing. A quick look around underneath on the garage floor and there it was. I re-installed it and just as you said, it's perfect again. Thank you so much. I was dreading loading it into my Transit van, driving to the lawnmower repair guy who is ALWAYS so busy at this time of year, especially in good weather. And my grass is really getting out of hand.
    Thank you so so much for your great advice! And like the guy a few replies down, I think I love you too! Liked and subscribed.

As soon as I watched 2.5 minutes of your video I went out and found the pin in the grass and inserted it into my axle and the tractor moved like normal.

    I cannot thank you enough for making this video. So, I removed my rear wheel/tire to fix a flat on my JD 170 and "thought" I'd put everything back together properly. I couldn't get the mower to go forward or backward however. I was completely frustrated and getting ready to take it into the shop, which is a huge pain. I watched your video, and went back to the area where I'd removed my wheel. I looked for about 5 seconds when I saw the metal bar that slides into the wheel assembly. I reassembled the wheel (correctly) with the metal bar in place, and the mower goes into forward and reverse perfectly! You were right... I was never even aware of the metal bar, or that it had come out of the assembly. HUGE THANK YOU AGAIN! MUCH APPRECIATION. On a side note, I wonder what the JD shop would have charged me to fix this issue :)

      @@Buckwsr Hi Buck, thanks for your reply. As it turns out, I watched your video after I had put the wheel back on, without inserting the axel shaft key. But I have another problem. I managed to push start the mower by starting the engine normally using the key, then engaging the accelerator pedal (nothing happened) then turning the other back wheel by hand while sitting on the mower; this engaged locomotion; then I ran around my yard once. Then back to my shed. So..., when I tried to take off the axel shaft keyless wheel, I couldn't get it off. It's stuck on the axel after I've taken off the normal clip pin and washer. Now that is weird. Any idea how to get off the recalcitrant wheel, so that I can insert the axel shaft key as you suggest??? Best regards and thanks in anticipation. Bruce from Australia . p.s. I've tried lost of lubricant WD-40 to get it off without effect.

      @@bphooper1 Hi Bruce, I cannot conceive of any reason the wheel could be locked on to the axle shaft, especially if there is no shaft key inserted. I really don't know what to suggest. WOW as with every one else changed my tyre then wouldnt go forward or reverse. Tried everything I could but was really confused thought i would google it and boom got this post. Found the pin straight away and put it in. Works perfect again. Its not a good feeling when you think gee its going to probably cost a bit to get it working. But not this time thanks heaps.

    Just had to say thank you for posting this video. I just pulled my rear wheel to inspect something and after putting the wheel back on, tractor wouldn't move. Watched your video, went outside to see if the key had fallen on the ground and it had! Put it back in and voila! Thanks again!!

    Love you!... After 40 minutes of troubleshooting, I was about to give up until I saw this video... There was the stupid pin laying on the floor, I didn't notice the wheel axle was rotating when I had my wife pressing on the gas while I was looking to see what was wrong. Thanks!. I have spent more time troubleshooting this piece of D-140 junk that actually using it... A different problem every month. Such a poor design and I only have 57 hours on the thing.

    I had the same symptoms as you, except that I had not changed a tire. And my axil was not spinning. My problem turned out to be the belt jumped the front drive pully.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 роки тому

      Glad you got it figured out! But what is the reason the belt jumped off? That's a bit unusual. Belt worn out, maybe? Here's my video on changing out the drive belt, in case you need to do that: ua-cam.com/video/yi9_AJML20M/v-deo.html

    My wife drove with a flat tire until both beads came loose and she couldn't move anymore (rim spinning in tire). I pulled the tire (in my defense it was rusted on an took a lot of persuasion to remove), fixed it, and put it back on (sans key, as I now know...). "You should have stopped when the tire went flat" I said. "Now the thing is ruined." (there may have been an exclamation point or two in the actual conversation). And now I find out it's a keyed shaft and I didn't put it back in. Let's just say I'm not going to show my wife this video. Thanks!
