    Ready for Friday’s episode! I dig the IS500; I don’t really mind some of it’s dated characteristics. I love that color, too. It hasn’t occurred to me that it is the color from the LC500. Those seats look comfortable. I’m far more of a GT car fan than a pure sports car fan and I just realized how this car fits the bill perfectly. I’m never going to be one to go to the track or auto cross, but having access to that ample power and acceleration and great interior comfort as I eat up the miles is definitely seductive.

    A ZF in this car would make it a no brainer. Unfortunately, the transmission is a very important part of a performance sedan. The lack lustre gearbox kills it for me.

  • @Philmoscowitz
    @Philmoscowitz Рік тому +1

    If only Lexus would sharpen up the transmission so there's less lag between the paddle shift and the actual gear shift, and make the breaks and accelerator travel less, and, of course, replace the track pad with a dial or a small storage space, this car would be so much improved. I was seriously considering it, but I ended up going for the BMW M440 xDrive Coupe because of the flaws with the Lexus I just mentioned. Lexus, I hope you're reading these comments from potential customers. UA-cam is a goldmine of feedback for designers.

    From what I've read, car prices are not going to be going back to 2019 levels anytime soon----if ever. Especially the premium brands; they are really enjoying the super high prices they are getting and the lesson in "managing demand" has reached the C-level suite. They aren't going to overbuild anymore; they will build just enough to keep the prices where they want them. Think of OPEC and oil production. Every day I flip flop over getting the CT4-V BW or this. Neither will depreciate much, if at all. If I had the money for both I'd get both but that manual trans in the Caddy seals the deal. I love this though!

    I appreciated the Charger Scat Pack comparison to this car. In June I sold my daily driver 2016 Scat Pack with over 100k miles to take advantage of the supply/demand opportunity. I loved the car but love money more. The car had zero issues and put a smile on my face every time I drove it.
    IMO the 500 is a polished, upscale, high quality Charger. I am ordering this car because it is a V8, rear wheel drive, comfortable, GT that sounds great. Sound sells. Compared to the Charger (my reference point) I am expecting greater refinement, reliability and a resale value when I sell it.
    I visited two local Lexus dealerships and was told they can order the car for me at MSRP with zero markup. They have the Limited Edition versions on the floor at MSRP.

    What a fantastic machine. There are naysayers, screw them. It's amazing that Lexus put this car on the road with such a limited audience. That tells me that Toyota/Lexus in the face of a hybrid/ev world, which they are a big part of, can also say that they know there are people, like me, that love the fact that cars like this exist. Lexus is my new go to company since Honda dumped the V6 coupe and manuals. I've been a Honda geek since 1992, but Honda has devolved into "just another car company".

      When is it coming out? I sure hope not. I see how Toyota has been marking up their Primes. One would be smart to buy one where they haven't marked up a vehicle and sell it elsewhere since COVID hasn't seemed to really affect people's pocket books lol. Nobody has money. What shall we do mark vehicles up 50-100% and people still can somehow afford them. 🤷‍♂️

      @@sdlausen1 Wow. I looked online a little bit ago and didn't see any for sale. So they are asking 90k for these now? This is a great way to lose customers. They know people will buy them at this price somehow otherwise they wouldn't list them at this price. Sad day for Toyota and Lexus for doing this.

    They pretty much made the same car as the one in 2008 with a prettier body. I’m glad they made it but I think sales will be horrible. It’s hard to justify a car which is supposed to be a daily and gets 16 mpg. That being said this is my favorite car of 2021.

    Am sooooooooooooooo not impressed!!! The gearbox must be from 2005 and it has no oil cooler for the gearbox...., the tech and interior design is from the 90's til' mid 00's, while the whole car breaths the 80's.... well done Lexus... another senior sitizen car in your line up of all your other senior sitizen cars.... I really don't get how Lexus has survived all these years!!!!The domestic market must have helped a lot I guess! I mean, 125M ppl makes a lot of difference .... imagine 10% of them buying lexus cars... voila... money in the bank for Lexus.

    Outdated, lacking in actual performance, but looks good, sounds good and charming to drive. It's such a tired car at this point, not sure if the V8 saves it. The M340i still outruns this car and is far more modern. You aren't getting a bargain here, you're paying less and getting less. Beyond the V8 there is no reason to get this car. It's too old with the interior being particularly outdated and lacking features you find on a loaded Camry.

    I've owned an ISF before and so I can see why this package would be attractive to enthusiasts in some ways. But in today's world of sporty vehicles the engine is just too old. Lexus may be the only brand that markets a 470hp V8 sport sedan that doesn't pull it's rated horsepower. Every competitor has a listed power rating that equals its actual wheel horsepower while Lexus has stuck with its crank rating for this motor. That's why it underperforms versus it's competitors. 470hp yes, but more like 370whp whereas for example a mustang 5.0 makes more whp with similar mfr horsepower ratings. Makes me think that lexus has gotten lazy relying on this yamaha designed motor from the mid 2000s.
