    Finally a video that is well detailed and very informative as well. Thank you 😊. Just received my box from Dr. Smile here in Germany yesterday. However, the first aligners were way too tight for my teeth that I couldn't fully close my mouth.

    Im currently on Tray 5 of 23 going to have to disagree, Tray 1 is the toughest. getting use to having a foreign obejct in your mouth is tough. Had discomfort for the first 3 days afterwards pain deceased. Also notice that i started clenching my jaw in my sleep and throughout the day this caused soreness in my jawline. I strongly regretted it but by day 4 it got easier for me. As you move to the next tray there is tightness but not as bad as the first Tray 1

    I have to disagree with your comment that your teeth don’t hurt on your first trays. I am currently on my first trays which I will only be wearing for a week like all my other trays but my teeth hurt a lot. It kind of feels like I have a loose tooth but they are not actually loose

      Alexandra Thomas pain is different for each person

    • @Anthony-ux8gy
      @Anthony-ux8gy 5 років тому +14

      no Alexandra is right, I just started and I felt the same thing she’s describing. As did the numerous people I asked before starting. Not to mention most UA-cam reviews. It makes logical sense that the first set of trays will cause the most pain as your teeth would be the least accustomed to movement on the first tray. It begins to get easier the more your teeth get used to moving.
      All the trays have some sort of movement, the first ones included. It’s not just your normal smile as being described. It’s just VERY minimal movement each time. Why would you get a retainer that only covers your teeth? With no movement? What would be the point of that? Lol you would take them off and your teeth would be the exact same? lol 2 weeks for that? you would be putting the second tray on as if the first tray was never used if the first tray did nothing lol. That’s not the case, there is movement.
      She must be the outlier but for the average person be prepared to feel the most discomfort close to the 24 hour mark from the first tray. After a few days though the pain is tolerable and will get easier with each tray.

    About the hurting process, I cannot disagree with you more 😂 the first week was absolutely the worst; my teeth wasn't used to the pressure and tightness of the trays, and the inner mouth skin/tongue was getting cut and scraped up. It's only until a full week and a 1/2 until my mouth fully adjusted to switching out trays. For you not to have pain in the beginning means you were blessed to the gods girl

I had to laugh when you mentioned the weight loss! I, too, am a person who snacks a lot... well, those days are over for awhile! I heard about the sharp edges of the invisalign in several videos now. I wonder why the company doesn´t take care of that issue, instead of every person has to use a nailfile. The invisalign braces are sure expensive enough and the company makes a lot of money.

    • @Megan-zp3bo
      @Megan-zp3bo 4 роки тому +4

      Well I think they make too many trays to have to go and file every single one. I assume they just create the Invisalign trays and chuck them in a bag and that’s that. I agree though they should take some responsibility for the sharp edges. My gums are constantly sore and raw from them.

    1:58 it's not always about how your teeth look. My teeth are perfect and straight and lined up. But I have to get my bite changed because my front top teeth keep breaking because of the way they meet with the lower teeth, they meet too soon when I close my mouth, so collisions happen. People get their teeth moved because they don't always work correctly mechanically. It's worth it because each time I have to get my front tooth rebuilt when a piece breaks off is a couple hundred dollars and it really hurts because the piece of paper they jab against my gum to separate it from the other tooth to apply the compound hurts. But I have to put up with that pain the because getting a needle of anesthetic jabbed into the upper gums hurts even worse. I finally decided to see an orthodontist because my dentist said that actually moving the position of the teeth is the only way to get them to stop breaking like that. I am on tray #4 of my invisalign.

      My teeth look sorta okay but I had a big chip on my front tooth because of an overbite and my biting mechanics is just off. It’s getting more difficult to bite off tough pieces of meat which I love

    I wore braces back when I was 40. However after years of dental work, my mouth changed, teeth moved and the old retainer no longer fit. I ended up getting invisalign to restraighten my teeth. Probably the most pain I have (tray 1), is the little nubs that stick out from certain teeth and tear the inside of my mouth raw. My teeth feel fine, my mouth cave not so much! I bought some of the old fashioned brace wax and slapped it over those nubs and after a few days, they felt better. I still have some discomfort when I eat with the nubs rubbing wrong against my lips, etc but over all ok. My doc says I may only wear 6-7 months which is good. They are a bit inconvenient taking in and out, but those metal braces caught every piece of food and you were still running to brush after each meal. I think it’s all good.

    Hi Dina, very good video on tips for anyone starting out on Invisalign. You Tube videos have been helpful in me deciding to get Invisalign and trusting this technology. I'm +60 yo and a few years ago my teeth started to move and this caused a lot of problems, primarily I developed fangs and my teeth hit together which was painful, so I decided to start Invisalign in hope of correcting these problems plus I wanted to get my smile back. I got impressions made this summer and my dentist advised starting the trays after I was done a trip that I was taking. Excellent advise because Invisalign was an adjustment for the first two weeks. I'm currently on tray 13 of 21. My teeth are moving nicely. I am strict because I want to get through this as quickly as possible. I have my trays in 22+ hours a day. I eat three meals a day @ 20 mins each, and tooth brushing maintenance @ 10 mins each. I tried it but it was too much trouble to remove the trays for snacks, and I also tried eating very soft food like a muffin or apple sauce with the trays in, and it was so unpleasant to me that I stick to three meals a day. As a result I have lost some weight and gotten used to my routine easily enough. I change my trays every seven days after dinner. I take ibuprofen if needed. Some trays have been more irritating than others, but I have never had to trim anything. My assessment of Invisalign treatment is that its not terrible, but you have to be a patient person. At first I was very self conscience of the trays and I felt like I had to identify that I had them in. Having the trays in is not like not having them in, and it does change my speech, give me mouth pain if I talk or sing too much, my lips get dry and crack, and I find that I move my mouth, lips and jaw around a lot,, but none of this bothers me any more. I understand the braces thing now! No one has ever noticed the trays where in and it's not a big deal. I may need to have some attachments moved the next time I go for a visit, but my treatment is coming along well, and I'm at least half way though and if not, well it will just be a bit longer than expected. I check in every 4 weeks and the dentist monitors everything. I don't have the confidence to do anything like this from home. Thanks again and if I may say so you look fabulous and love your make up.

  • @trishawalton24

    You should only ever drink water while your trays are in. Your dentist or orthodontist will also tell you this. Anything else you should remove your trays. I remove mine in the morning while drinking coffee. If you want alchohol drink vodka or gin. Make sure you carry a toothbrush and brush after every meal or after drinking anything other than water.

      I drink green tea with a bit of xylitol. Unlike black tea or coffee, green tea is alkaline and the xylitol causes harmful mouth bacteria to starve to death. It can cause some staining but by then I’m on to the next tray. BTW, I wouldn’t drink any alcohol with them in. All alcohol is acidic; vodka and gin have a pH of 4 😳and all alcohol breaks down into sugar. Bad, so bad, on every level.

      I read somewhere that for Invisalign related pain, it is advised not to take NSAIDs (like Aleve, Ibuprofen) as they are anti-inflammatory and something about them slowing down the movement of the teeth, and it's better to stick to Tylenol (Acetaminophen/Paracetamol). But I'm not completely sure so if you're wondering please do your own research and don't take my word for it, just a heads up :)

    I have a question. I'm currently under the invisalign treatment. I'm supposed to ideally wear my aligners 22 hours/day, remove it before eating, and brush my teeth after eating before putting the aligners back on. Based on my observation, it takes me about 30 mins each to eat, breakfast (15 mins for breakfast actually), lunch and dinner. So that's about 1.5 hours in total time for eating, leaving me with just 30 mins remaining to brush and put the braces back on. However, I read countless articles suggesting that, after eating, one must wait at least 30-60 mins before brushing because the teeth's enamel soften immediately after eating, especially after eating acidic food. If I follow the recommendation, how do I ensure I wear my aligners 22 hrs/day while following their recommendation of preserving good enamel health? Thank you for your time

    • @parisaha
      @parisaha 5 років тому +2

      Maybe you could drink lots of water while eating the acidic foods to increase the pH in your mouth, so as not to soften your enamel too much. Or rinse with a fluoride mouthwash after eating to increase the enamel strength. Or rinse with a baking soda solution after eating to increase the pH even more. Also, check out Basic Bites! Great question!

    You’re not supposed to brush your teeth with your trays on. Per my orthodontist don’t use toothpaste as the chemicals can damage the aligners. You should be soaking your trays at least once a day. Preferably at night. By using Invisalign’s cleaning crystals or a retainer cleaner. If you take care of your trays they will take care of you! Please refrain from drinking anything but water!

    I am 45 years old. I started tray 1 of 20 on February 1, 2019. My treatment is very aggressive and yes painful. I have a LOT of attachments. Sawing in between almost each tooth to ensure proper movement. A history of migraines as well (keep that in mind). That said - I can already notice a difference. My advice is to start your new tray right before bedtime. Soak your trays in Hydrogen peroxide for 15 minutes and brush them. Dry them as much as possible while you eat. Remember you absolutely cannot chew when wearing your trays. Only drink. At this point in my treatment I am no longer able to chew (ouch!) so I stick to nutrition drinks, cream of wheat, you get the idea. Take up a new hobby to keep your mind off the pain/soreness. And keep your mind's eye on the prize.... your winning smile 😁 $5,000 later 🤑🤑🤑

I bought this stuff called Kanka from a drug store and it’s way better than oragel. It helped so much with the pain in my gums and cutting inside my mouth and under my tongue. Naproxen helped a lot too. Good luck on your journey. By the end of May I noticed my aligners should be the start of seeing that results of straighter teeth. I can’t wait.

    On my non-fasting days, I eat twice a day. I don't brush my teeth before eating, just swish them thoroughly with water. So I brush my teeth and aligners (with a toothbrush and antibacterial soap) after the first meal and after the second meal. So no biggie.

    I think evaluating your smile yourself in some percentage might be misleading, a lot of people don’t realize they have incorrect bite when their teeth overall are straight, so they can be 100% contempt with their smile. But incorrect bite can cause more issues in future(e.g jaw problems, some teeth wearing off too much/unevenly). For example I didn’t even know I have a cross bite in one place until a doctor once told me this during cleaning😅 and it was making my whole jaw shift to the side.
    I would say seeking advice from several doctors would be the best strategy.
