Hello, i have tinnitus since 1989 after an otitis in the left ear and working 2 months in a car factory when i was student. The stress, depression and insomnia are the big issues. They increase them.I bought in january hearing aids but i dont use them, i am afraid that they make my tinnitus worse. I lived with tinnitus during 35 years without big problems until last year after post trauma stress. Its a bit better now, but the tinnitus are yet high.i need time and be quiet, calm. We had to be occupied and try to forget them.I hope that Susan Shore device will help us.Be strong.
@@tamarasimonehill I purchased these devices recently and tested them with the hearing care professional. Some doctors advised me against it because I didn't have too much hearing loss, but I still wanted to take them because I was in a very difficult situation in 2023 even though I had managed my tinnitus well since 1989. I was happy at first because the hearing aids covered the tinnitus it seemed to me, but the effect wore off, certainly a placebo effect. I fear the adverse effects of continuing to wear these aids for the moment, which is why I am holding back a little. My hearing loss is mild/moderate on the left and mild on the right; but tinnitus has several tones especially on the left, it is more linear on the right. So even with the devices I can hear them. I also fear the constant noise of these devices, the hiss or the noises they generate; the ear needs rest, and I do not know the short/medium term consequences of the noise generated by the devices on the intensity of the tinnitus. I am also wary of electromagnetic waves and the bluetooth function. It's a little irrational, but I hope that finding peace following my stress last year will eventually reduce the tinnitus and return to an acceptable threshold, the one I had before. I tried in the evening to fall asleep more easily, but in the morning when I woke up, I had strange sensations that questioned me. So, I'm going carefully. Tinnitus sufferers are a target for sellers of devices and other applications, but for the moment, it is not convincing.
@@tamarasimonehill I don't use them because I fear they will make my tinnitus worse, with the constant noise. I have a slight hearing loss, so I can still hear well, but the hiss produced by the hearing aids does not cover the sound of the hearing aids. tinnitus which is variable, despite the settings of the devices. Sometimes I use them a little for the sound of the waves. I hope that the intensity of the tinnitus will decrease with the work I do on managing my stress, my sleep, etc... Tamara, so pleased that you have found a new source of professional help. It all sounds really promising1 Good luck with it all, you really deserve to get better. I am nearly three years with tinnitus and not giving up looking for relief or a cure. I believe if you can address the root cause then there is a cure. Are you still going to Sardinia for the retreat?
Good to hear that you may have gotten to the root cause, Tamara! Sounds like one step closer for you to get better! I have seen you on Treble Health podcasts and I'm a bit surprised that, that team was not able to pinpoint the root cause for you? They are pretty knowledgeable on all things Tinnitus.
@@tamarasimonehill Totally understand! I'm kinda in the same boat..I'll have days and days where it seems low and feel much better, then a bout of bad days! My father in law’s tinnitus went away with hearing aids. He doesn’t have it anymore but still has hearing loss. I have terrible tinnitus. I am 32 years old from London, ON. I have fluid in my ears. I am at my wits end.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. Please reach out to me by email(in bio) if you ever want someone to talk to. I know how hard it is. It’s like being awake in a nightmare.
Thanks Tamara. Keeps us posted. I live in Ottawa and I would definitely be interested in seeking Salus services. I’m getting close to two years and I have not reached habituation. My T seems too be more intrusive lately and I don’t know why. I have done nothing to exacerbate it. Is it the same for you? Looking forward to your update. Michel Did the 4 tests you mentioned cost 180$ ?
I can really relate to your message, yes I am nearly three years with tinnitus now and recently seems so intrusive and persistent, and am doing sooo much to help myself. We will find a way, stay strong! I do have the odd few hours here and there when there is some ease. ☺
I did extended testing in the beginning. Up to 16khz. I have 100% speech in noise results but they never gave me an OAE for the inner ear damage. I did have an EEG which showed interesting results showing by auditory cortex off the charts F rating (A-F) And my memory and concentration from the tinnitus is now a D rating 😒
No matter what the results are at least you have facts and you know what your issues are moving forward it may not be the results that we want, but at least we have some sort of answers
Hi Tamara, thanks for the update and info. It's frustrating that it seems like the majority (?) of audiologists just run very basic testing. Not sure if this is a financial/equipment issue for them. I just don't get it. Aren't audiologists supposed to specialize in hearing and hearing function, I mean isn't that the whole point of seeing an audiologist? I've had a similar experience. Had to drive 1.5 hours away to a audiologist specializing in tinnitus to find out I have mild "high frequency" hearing loss which is probably maybe the cause of my tinnitus, you know how it goes. I'm 51 and have had tinnitus since a teenager
@@tamarasimonehill yes we definitely have to be our own advocates! I've been undecided about treating with on the ear devices. The tinnitus specialist I saw recommended neuromonics but I don't like the idea of having to use headphones for about 6 hours a day, something I've avoided for so long having tinnitus. I like the idea of the on the ear amplification/sound therapy treatment better. My tinnitus really didn't bother me much until Feb 2023. I had an increase in volume which has calmed down for the most part but I still have bad times as well.
Hi Tamera, I hope that works for you. I'm on the same boat as you I live in Richmond hill and have tinnitus for 6 months. I also joined treble health but seems their solution doesn't work well for me. Please share your progress and we can talk more in PM thanks
Apparently once your hair cells are damaged they’re irreparable and your best option is to then protect the ones that are healthy. I’m still following up with a naturopath to see if there’s something I CAN do.
No it's damage is permanent theyigjt or might not know the reason on many cases u can have a genetic genes or Bevan risk factor for early hearing damage u do want to protect what's left of your cells or auditory nerves

I'm in Vancouver BC, is there anyone here who specializes. I'm grateful for any help. ❤ Have you researched Gaba supplement for tinnitus. I'm looking into it.
I really don’t know but most tinnitus specialists no matter where they are do online sessions. I see someone in Britain. I don’t think proximity matters.

The initial assessment which includes both visits was $180.
I think not sure a regular ent check I don’t think they can see that far to see the cochlear
It’s a special device but an ent should have all the appropriate devices.
