Loved this video! I like the way you think and reason around your choises of styles, fabrics and colour and I am so glad to hear someone in the sewing community talking about ethical and sustainable fabric choises! I started to wander if no one cared the way I do... And you are so talented and brave about your sewing!

Eva Säker ah thank you so much! Ethical and sustainable sewing is something I plan to learn a LOT more about this year 😊 glad others seem to be interested as I’ll maybe do some specific videos on the matter... thanks again, you’re so kind ❤️☺️

Wow those sweaters and shirts are amazing! I really got a chuckle from your "tights being a prison for your legs"! I totally agree! TFS. Christine

Christine Lafleur thank you so much! Haha they are leg prisons and should be avoided at all costs! 😂

Thank you, Ruthie! I read this in early December 2018 - just as I was starting my sewing plans although I had no idea what to do. You showed me where to start and how to find the answers I need.
May I request a vlog post showing how you approach free-style design and DIY Couture - No Patterns Needed? Sounds a wonderful idea, but I don'tknow where to start.

I love that idea for a vlog!! I will definitely do something like that soon, thanks for the suggestion! I'm so glad this one helped as well :)

Oh I'd love that too! I'm a beginner of decades, not quite venturing in to buttons, buttonholes, placets, etc. Would love that push!

Your self-drafting is so courageous and creative. I feel like your channel is so different and refreshing. And you’re hilarious. I can’t wait to see what your summer wardrobe looks like this year!

Fun video...never "too long". With all your self-drafting success you can certainly figure out the long sleeve hack for the Kalle on your own. I bet you could lay the Helmi pattern over the Kalle at the shoulder and draft the armhole from it and use the Helmi sleeve. But now, I just looked at the line drawing of the Kalle sleeve expansion and it's not even a set-in sleeve, literally just an extended version of the original. So easy.
My big accomplishment this weekend was to finish my bodice sloper which fits perfectly! I'm so happy and it really gets the creative fire roaring and makes anything seem possible.
I was completely distracted by your booties, by the way. Such a great shoe for taking any outfit up a notch. I'll be shopping for some soon!

Libby Bowles thank you! I think you’re right, I’ll definitely just try to extend the sleeve by myself- thanks for your vote of confidence 😉 well done on the bodice sloper- such an achievement! Thanks, my booties were super cheap from New Look in the sale a while back. I bought them on a whim and they’ve ended up being some of my most worn shoes! 🙂 I think they were like £12?! 😁

I loved this. It's my own goal to move towards a simple wardrobe of items where I actually wear all the items and they work together. Im so sick of the entire toxic, throw away fashion cycle.

    Nice intro.
The Kallie shirt looks really nice on you.
I had a make-nine plan which has changed a lot. I've ended up sewing a lot for others but come May I hope to sew a lot for me. I'm not buying anything ready-made this year and I'm in need of clothes that aren't stained or look ragged. I'm having a difficult time deciding on basic colors for my wardrobe though. I'm going through the "Curated Closet" but there are 3 pallets I like. I think I'll stick to what fabrics I have and match from there.

Hi Ruthie, you have made some great things over the last few months 👍. I absolutely love your grey self drafted shirt.....those pleats at the back were gorgeous and such a lovely shear fabric but worked so well 😍. The Kallie shirt is next on my list and have loved all your versions 😍. Your coats were amazing too and definitely something I have to build up to. I will check out your suggested ones for beginners. Thanks so much for all your great work and inspiration since I have found you 💞. Happy Easter and looking forward to seeing more of your great and often humourous videos....love the tights comment and very true 😁😉😘

Sally Dingle hi Sally! 👋 ah, thank you so so much! Yeah coats are much easier than they look and such a satisfying make- I was so intimidated by them but glad I took the plunge because I love them ☺️❤️ you’re so sweet, thank you- that really means so much to me! Happy Easter and happy sewing xx

Craftwerk thanks Ruthie....just been cutting out my pieces for the kalle and just realized I have been spelling it wrongly for ages😩. Spelling has never been one of my strong point 😉😘

I'm the other way. I have a wardrobe full of plains and separates - largely winter wears - but I spend a lot of the warmer months in the south of France so I'm now filling my wardrobe gaps...dresses and prints :)

Kathie Gadd wow I’m jealous on so many levels- spending time in the South of France and the opportunity to sew lots of beautiful prints and patterns 😍

where are you purchasing the solid plain self-drafted fabric from?

    • @CraftWerk
      @CraftWerk  6 років тому

Prinncess Wade do you mean the jerseys? The blue and black are from Minerva crafts, the beige is from fabrics galore. All the details of the fabrics etc are in this post: www.craftwerk.net/single-post/2018/04/01/AutumnWinter-Makes-2017-18
