I've Been Eyeing Up This MTB Trail For 3 Years |Predator -Tiger Mountain, WA

  • 3 years ago, Anna and I took a road trip to ride the best trails in the pacific northwest. The goal was to ride Galbraith, in Bellingham, but first, we stopped by Tiger Mountain. While we got to ride some amazing trails like NOTG, OTG and EBAD, we missed our chance at Predator.
I've been thinking about this trail ever since. I thought about it a lot while I built out the van. How I would be able to go back and visit trails I've heard so much about!
Predator lived up to the hype! It's a chunky beast. Ride it slow (like me) and it rides like a spicey black. But take this trail at speed like it's designed to be ridden, and I can see how it deserves its double black rating!

Hell yea Dustin, was so sick to ride with you and anna, (this is annas coach by the way). Having spent the summer in whistler this should be easy for you the next time you ride it. But that trail looks SICK.

Yo bud! Thanks for giving the video a watch! Everything seems to sit on a different scale now that we've ridden Squamish and Whistler! Thanks for giving Anna so many great pointers. She's won the award for "most improved" out of the two of us!

I remember riding this in 2017; Predator was my first lap. I eyeballed the exit at the parking lot and thought "man things usually look smaller in photos than in person but this one looks smaller than the photos", and then I realized my mistake when I got to the actual big roll down to the road. :D

Hahahaha. Thats freaking hilarious! At least it got you out on the trail! Did you end up doing the roll into the road?

@@DustyTrailsMTB no, that was the only thing I didn’t hit. I took a long look but decided “nope” and walked down. My second lap was OTG to Fully Rigid to Joy Ride then NWT back to the car.

Nice job! I have not been back on Predator since fracturing my ribs on it a ways back. Hope to give it another go here soon. I'd say it rides mostly like a black outside those couple features. I honestly have the most trouble with the entrance to lower, it is where I wrecked with my rear wheel popping up and clipping my butt on the drop at the bottom, throwing me over the bars (likely just bad body position). I have not yet gone down it and thought that I 'nailed it'.

That lower drop-in is spicy! I've never broken ribs (Knock on wood). That sounds absolutely brutal. I've definitely hit some steeper stuff this year and buzzed my ass. It's a good reminder to stay centered on the bike!

I'm on the 2023 Trek Fuel EX 9.8 (gen 6). Perfect bike for this trail!
