A lot of European women cannot imagine having an Asian partner due to all the stereotypes you can see in Hollywood movies (Asians=nerds, small, can only be assistants of the white hero etc., and even if they are leads it's usually an action movie where they never get the girl. Jet Li for example didn't even have a kiss scene with Aaliyah in Romeo Must Die). We need more Asian-European love stories!!

I met my Taiwanese-American husband when I was 17 in the early 90s and we were really the only couple that we ever saw of Asian man/white woman. Even in the early 2000s when we lived in Portugal for a while, we were such an anomaly, old ladies used to set their shopping down in the street to stare- it never felt aggressive, but just so surprised they couldn't move... so sweet your dad felt so accepted!
