- Get your waders on and let's get back in the creek. Come with us as we spend the day creek walking for fossils. Todays highlight find: Complete Hamite “Candy Cane” Ammonite. Haul includes: Gastropods, Ammonites, Ammonite pieces and impressions, Sea Urchins, Bi-Valves, etc... Thanks for watching...
According to the excellent book Field Guide to the Fossils of Texas by Charles Finsley (arguably the best book on the fossils of a single state except for the even better book on Ohio Fossils), Hamites is the former name of the genus. It is now considered Idiohamites fremonti. Just a suggestion... why not narrate as you go, describing what you are finding, including the species or at least genus names where known?
Thanks for watching. Agreed, One of the best books on Texas Fossils. Check out one of our hunts with narration. 👍👍👍ua-cam.com/video/bhYFIzlN0i0/v-deo.html

Creek in cutting through the Duck Creek and Fort Worth Formations.

What fossil is that in 1:58?
That is a Hamite Ammonite, (aka Candy Cane)...👍
He's calling it a Hamite ammonite, but that is the former name of the genus. It is now considered Idiohamites fremonti.
Awesome finds again ❤
