The Rush song "Subdivisions" was literally written in response to suburban Toronto where the band was formed. It may be better than Fairfax, but it still kind of stinks. I think Fairfax should look to communities inside the Beltway for inspiration. Some parts (not all!) of Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church have centralized better around more walkable areas. Fairfax mostly squanders its best candidates for the strong town model like Huntington and Herndon.
It definetely does stink, but back in the day it was definitely really bad. Nowadays they seem to be upping their game in transit, especially near the York Region, and since Fairfax isn't as dense as Arlington or Alexandria, the York Region (Vaughan) seems to be realistic as development. Of course, its not the BEST example, but its better than what we have in Fairfax.
Great video😀
