Dan makes it sound so easy
I like watching Dan super knowledgeable about deer. Just listen and learn...
Very tempting to hunt a nice scrape, it's never paid off for me. I'm still going to hunt over a bunch of scrapes this Thursday morning.
Great info, makes good sense and brings some light to scrapes.
🦌🦌🎯I've harvested plenty of mature bucks on scrapes for years...before hunters really understood or recognized their significance. Scrapes on edges usually are worked during evening hours of darkness. The scrapes you find deep within a large public land section will usually have several different habitat types. Lets say you have a section or land bridge between swamps or what I call a natural land berm that's several feet higher within a swamp but runs for several hundred yrds...those scrapes identify his signature daily activity. The "Why" is he's surrounded by his security cover and never runs into human scent. These set ups are tuff hunting because hes traveling perpendicular in a small area entering and exiting differently on a daily bases. As different does enter and leave his calling card area his travel direction will most likely be dictated by their movement or activity. Usually hunting these locations your set ups should be unpredictable unless your undetected, see him pass thru, and make a simple distance/set up adjustment the nxt time in....I love hunting scrapes for one simple reason..they identify his "Core Area" they tell you your within a 200 acre area he travels on a regular basis....I could talk about scrapes and there activity all nite long. However, I like to mention I stopped registering my mature bucks in Commemorative Bucks of Michigan many years ago.. Some old school deer hunters have skills and abilities many will never understand. Dan's is one of those old school guys who has it. Love to share my thoughts and deer hunting tactics with Dan sometime...Good Luck and Good hunting
As usual... Love Dan's Shirt!!! Make Hunting Great Again!!!
Man this guy knows what he’s talking about, a mountain of knowledge
thx again for sharing your knowledge.
There’s a scrape where I hunt that shows up every late October for the last 4 seasons in the same exact location, in the summer it’s not active and covered up with leaves
Dan is the man!
Dan's the MAN! Mr. big buck serial killer
Thanks Dan
Love the shirt Dan
Another good video Jake and Dan. Jake I know how big you are. In this video Dan looks to be a huge man. I had a missed opportunity with a good buck last year in just such a spot. I am planning a repeat with a better outcome on my part
Great Stuff
October 29, 2022.
I went to my property Saturday 7-3 2022 and found a fresh scrape
👍
So, you scout during the season because you don't see scrapes in the summer?
