One thing to note about Breloom is that the mon's true power is very unlikely to be wielded during a normal game playthrough. Prior to Gen 8, the only way you could get a Breloom that can use Spore is if you level up your Shroomish to an absurdly high level before evolving. In Gen 3, it was an absurd level 54. For Gen 4-6, it would be lowered to level 45, and later level 40 in Gen 7 onwards. And reminder that Shroomish evolves to Breloom at level 23, so it is both very unlikely that a casual player is even know that it is a thing, and also unlikely that you will be going through the trouble to level up such a weak Pokemon to an absurdly high level. Gen 8-9 made it so that you can teach Breloom Spore via the move reminder, fixing the issue.
In Gen 7 only you can use the Heart Scale to learn moves you would learn at higher levels early, so you could have Shroomish learn Spore at any level before Level 40 with a Heart Scale
It's not unfeasible to get a Spore Breloom for the E4/Champion since most games give you access to the daycare by then. It takes a bit of gumption, but it's easier than getting Drizzle Politoed or Drought Ninetales in Gen 5, for example.
In normal playthrough all you need to do are mostly just hit really hard and fast which Breloom can easily do with Mach Punch alone due to its very high attack.

They’re just “ancient” or “prehistoric” versions of modern day Pokémon and they’re not limited to just one of each. They’re commonly found in area zero like any other Pokémon in other routes.
They say Gen5 is the "Fighting-Type" generation because there's too many OP fighting-types but I don't believe that's the case at all. What Gen5 is really is the BUSTED Grass-Type generation; Ferrothorn- BUSTED. Serperior - BUSTED. Amoongus - SUPER BUSTED.
It’s crazy how much of stranglehold Aegislash had on the metagame. Options to deal with it were so limited to the point it was actually hurting the game. I remember running a team with Mega Garchomp JUST to break through Aegislash with Sand Force boosted EQs.
Would love to see a Top 20, or top 15 "gimmick pokemon." Like how Goodra was made use of to hold Damp Rock, do Rain Dance, and do Rest. Leaving you space to run Dragon Pulse and THUNDER.
What makes Ferrothorn incredible to me is how consistently good it was in Ubers, to the point where it was more viable than most uber pokemon and almost every single steel type(barring Zacian-C and Necrozma-DM). Some steels may be banned to ubers but will they match Ferro's viability in the tier?
Regen mons should've been a category. The Slow-triplets, Toxapex, Tangrowth and (as shown) Amoonguss have all had strong showings in OU and UU for several gens now and are among the strongest regular mons that still see competitive play.
I wish we'd stop using "broken" as a byword for "good." "Broken" is supposed to mean its mere existence invalidates the system in which it exists. It /breaks/ the game. Good video tho, my irrelevant linguistic bugbears aside. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Honestly it's just hyperbole for the sake of clicks. And it isn't even necessary if the title was "the best regular pokemon" or something like that it achieves the same result. "Broken" means exactly what you described and maybe only 1-2 of these pokemon could be considered "broken". Amoonguss and ferrothorn aren't broken they are just really good at what they do to the point of where people needed to have answers for them in case they saw them but there were answers and a lot of them. They just shuffled the meta but they didn't "break it" by any means.
I mean, that definition fits with like 90 percent of the Pokemon in this video. The Pink Blobs are so defensive they loop back around to being offensive. Ferrothorn, and Excadrill are so strong they can compete and even outdo literal legendaries. Aegislash literally had to be NERFED because of how obscene it was.
In gen 6, GF knew they created a monster in Aegislash because they nerfed Steel (and buffed Knock Off) in the same game introducing Aegislash. Otherwise, the sword is only weak to Fire and Ground (and Fighting with Scrappy/Foresight). Imagine the pain of switching in and removing it before it removing your team
If I could give gen 9 a title, it would be Power Creep, as in “the power creep generation”. gen 8 would be “the generation with mid-turn speed changes”
other mentions include gouging fire who has one of the biggest number of bans vs non bans in existence. palafin who had a retest and wasnt unbanned. and so on
Got an interesting suggestion: Top 5 Pokemon that have no more than 2 weaknesses and at least 1 immunity. That is one of the requirements for the Captain in my Police Force League (the other is for each one to represent each of the 6 other departments), and I would like to see what Pokemon make that list.
I'm surprised dracovish is not mentioned, you could have multiple of them even if its a fossil and if the opponent doesnt have gastrodon or ogerpon wellspring in gen 9 this guy is a cheat code
gen 5 wild pokemon were insane. the fact that an average ingame team could be serperior, excadrill, ferrothorn, conkeldurr, and mandibuzz is ridiculous
One can only imagine how great Toedscruel could have been if it wasn’t for that garbage ability. Game Freak was so worried about making the fastest Spore user out of Toedscruel and yet in the same generation they made Gholdengo, Anihilape, Palafin, etc.
Real on Excadrill. I’ve never played competitively, but once I got clapped so hard by my little cousin (who’s more than 10 years younger than me) and her random team being carried single handedly by her Excadrill. Wiped the floor with me. Good times tho lol
I would swap Excadrill with the pink blobs, if only on the grounds that said blobs were never banned to Ubers like Excadrill, but otherwise it's a solid list. 👍
You could have mentioned the time that Gen 1 OU Victreebell effortlessly 6-Od opposing teams which almost always included 4 or more Safari zone pokemon (Tauros, Chansey, Exeggutor, and Rhydon) an overworld encounter (Snorlax) and one of two Psychic types (Starmie and Alakazam) who were fair enough pretty "normal themselves"
I’m shocked that Alakazam and Gengar aren’t on this list. Abras can be caught north of Cerulean City and south of Goldenrod City, while Ghastlies can be caught in Pokemon Tower and Bellsprout Tower.
@@staringcorgi6475if you think about it, there were a ton of mons that were made worse at least defensively. And it was so bulky that it could take a neutral physical hits and KO back with its boosted special attacks. That's why Suicune was so good in Gen 3 and was almost an afterthought after Gen 3. Suicune was still decent, it's just not as effective as it was in Gen 3...

I feel like we need a part 2 for this as there are even more pokemon that are broken that the vid didn't cover like G-darmanitan and Dracovish for example
Dang, I forgot that spore used to work on grass types
Haha fishious rend go brrrr...
1:52 I heard "Band Ferrothorn" and had a nostalgia trip back to the days of Band Sand
0:40 the first broken starter was Swampert, a staple of ADV OU. Empoleon and Infernape quickly followed his footsteps as the best cleaner and best Stealth Rock lead in the game respectively in DPPt
none of those pokemon are broken
Swampert was more so really good than Broken, and Empoleon was a bit of a niche pick, Infernape straight up fell off HARD in DPP
I don’t know that I would consider paradox mons to be “normal”
They’re just “ancient” or “prehistoric” versions of modern day Pokémon and they’re not limited to just one of each. They’re commonly found in area zero like any other Pokémon in other routes.
@@HowlingOneify many ultra beasts are normal then too?
They say Gen5 is the "Fighting-Type" generation because there's too many OP fighting-types but I don't believe that's the case at all. What Gen5 is really is the BUSTED Grass-Type generation; Ferrothorn- BUSTED. Serperior - BUSTED. Amoongus - SUPER BUSTED.
0:45 flygon isn’t on this list 😭
Flygon's biggest appearance in these was in that video about how outclassed it is by Garchomp ☹
@ flygon is the waluigi of Pokemon
Its in our hearts
It’s crazy how much of stranglehold Aegislash had on the metagame. Options to deal with it were so limited to the point it was actually hurting the game. I remember running a team with Mega Garchomp JUST to break through Aegislash with Sand Force boosted EQs.
8:28 excadrill for president
Here 12 minutes after posting, feels good!
1 of my favourite pokemon
Weavile. I will glaze em to no end
Something also worth mentioning is that due to the rapid spin buff in gen 8, excadrill can reach crazy speed tiers even without sand rush
Honorable Mention to Gen 5 Cloyster.
I WASNT PREPARED FOR #1 lmaooooo almost spat out my drink
The talking heads bit is great
“How *Good* is Gen 9 mons actually”
Spidops at n°1 let's go
i appreciate the camus reference
"basically everything in gen9"
had me dying 😂
Great video. I know you've already made something with Cloyster but I would've added it here as well lol
Would love to see a Top 20, or top 15 "gimmick pokemon." Like how Goodra was made use of to hold Damp Rock, do Rain Dance, and do Rest. Leaving you space to run Dragon Pulse and THUNDER.
Volcarona has had periods every Gen since 5 that its considered bannable until it finally left OU in Gen 9
I think talonflame could also fit into the list, gale wings was crazy on release
Sand Rush Excadrill being broken is correct, however. That was an ultra menace.
tbf I'd say it's appropriate for Amoongus and Breloom lol
I mean, that definition fits with like 90 percent of the Pokemon in this video. The Pink Blobs are so defensive they loop back around to being offensive. Ferrothorn, and Excadrill are so strong they can compete and even outdo literal legendaries. Aegislash literally had to be NERFED because of how obscene it was.
Pokémon who got Speed Boost while simultaneously can Baton Pass should be at least given an honorable mention
Two Talking Heads references!? In my False Wipe Video?
I'm surprised dracovish is not mentioned, you could have multiple of them even if its a fossil and if the opponent doesnt have gastrodon or ogerpon wellspring in gen 9 this guy is a cheat code
gen 5 wild pokemon were insane. the fact that an average ingame team could be serperior, excadrill, ferrothorn, conkeldurr, and mandibuzz is ridiculous
To be fair, Serperior didn't get Contrary in Gen 5 (it was NU in that Gen). I do agree that Gen 5 does have insane wild Pokemon though.
"Top 5 most broken regular pokemon" Shows UU Pokemon on thumbnail
I always thought it was hilarious that a mole was powerful enough to go toe to toe with gods.
4:03 STILL waiting for “How Good was Amoonguss Actually…”
Gen 9 is the definition of "if everything is broken, then nothing is"
Gliscor getting snubbed for two videos in a row
I would swap Excadrill with the pink blobs, if only on the grounds that said blobs were never banned to Ubers like Excadrill, but otherwise it's a solid list. 👍
I was expecting garganacl on this list BUT OH BOI i didn't ever imagine how 😂😂
You were probably surprised the number one pick was just “basically everything in Gen 9.” They are pretty much right for just saying that alone.
i want the dedicated aegislash video so bad, one of my all time favorite pokemon
Kingdra will always be my king
Gen 5 really was peak Pokémon, wasn't it?
"Fix broken with broken"
-GameFreak, probably
I was confused why Paradox Pokémon ended up in number one, but I remember that you can catch them multiple in the wild.
Damn, that number one spot is insane but like, where's the lie?
The fact Dracovish and Galarian Darmanitan are not on the list is outrageous
Honorable mention to slowbro having a set thats banned in anything goes
Top 5 biggest winners and losers of the physical / special split
Beside sceptile I don’t really know who was made worse
@@staringcorgi6475if you think about it, there were a ton of mons that were made worse at least defensively. Think of it like this, without the Physical/Special Split Suicide only had two weaknesses which just so happened to be special types in grass and electric. Suicune could just calm mind up to the point where you couldn't hit it on the special side for significant dmg. And it was so bulky that it could take a neutral physical hits and KO back with its boosted special attacks. That's why Suicune was so good in Gen 3 and was almost an afterthought after Gen 3. Suicune was still decent, it's just not as effective as it was in Gen 3...
Gyrados was definitely one of if not THE biggest winner, finally getting to flex its monstrous attack stat with stab physical moves.
video on 101 HP substitute would be nice or finishing the trios and duos that have yet to be completed
I am glad Clefable got Magic Guard. Cute Charm is a near useless ability.
How about a top 5/top 10 list of the most broken Then 9 Pokemon?
3:40 It hurt me so I had to say…mired is pronounced mye-urd, not me-urd.
Other than that, good stuff keep it up! 👍
Finally a video that acknowledge how broken stall is, i hate blissey and chansey so much, they should legal only in ubers because how absurd they are
Where does one find the banned lists for competitive? Google just leads me to forums talking about 1 pokemon each, or videos like this where it sounds like they have access to a list, and they just tell us. It's fun to learn why pokemon are so good that they're banned
Excadrill, best Stealth Rock setter in the game. Mold Breaker ftw. Bypasses Magic Bounce, has Rapid Spin to combat opposing hazards, and not useless after doing those two jobs with Ground/Rock coverage. Too good.
I was hoping to see Dracovish. The one button machine
I was going to guess snorlax, but in the games it was so good you could only get one of them without trying to breed.
When i still played comp clefable and dusclops lead on trick room teams was absolutely diabolical. Clops sets the room and maybe gets a burn up before he switches out to my dynamax vikavolt redirection and life dew fable keeping it safe.
Vikavolt used to catch pants all the way down.
I'm still waiting for how good was escavalier and how good was accelgor actually? NOT to mention an update on blastoise!
You should do a vgc version of this in restricted metas
bit of an insane Gen 2 Snorlax snub
