  • Ahh yes the dyno, the illusive beast to witch we sacrifice our fuel, money and time to squeeze every ounce of power out of our machines..
    Well in this case I lost HP and gained TQ?! How does that happen! Anyway..
    71hp / 56tq..

    when a manufacturer states their horse power its at the crank not to the rear wheel. so your bike is on par as to where it should be.

    but isnt in that the manufacturer hp ammount is not measured "on the wheel " ? the loss you see is friction, chan, aand rotation of the wheel and they measure HP without all that

    i have the gasgas 700sm 2023 euro version and here we are not putting pc5 on it but directly remapping the Keihin ECU and it's a lot more efficient as my gasgas is now running 81hp at the crank and 76 at the rear wheel with the tekmo full exhaust, the Rottweiler sas delete kit and the Dna open filter.

    Yeah you didn't lose any power. You gained power. Wheel horsepower is less than crank HP that the manufacturer tells you. I think around 13% less. So 71 wheel HP is like having is like 81 crank HP. I Have seen stock ones make 59HP on the wheel dyno.

    • @michaelhohenbrunner5656
      @michaelhohenbrunner5656 6 місяців тому

      Yes and no. The 71hp is already the power at the crankshaft. You are right, that the manufacturer's specification refers to the engine power and that the measurement on a Dynojet measures the power at the rear wheel. However, in this case the 71hp is a theoretical value, which is calculated by the Dynojet software to estimate engine power. A stock 690/701 makes between 70 to 75hp on the dyno.

    9:00 interesting that the red (first?) run at the 4500-5000 rpm it’s at the 13 AFR then for the green/blue runs it has the lean spot there. Even notice the red line has more power due to the fuel in that spot as well

    • @WiscoSumo
      @WiscoSumo 6 місяців тому +1

      Also on Rottweiler’s video where they tune a 700 gas gas they have the afr at a very steadyhigh 12 low 13 through the whole run. LA and Chicago are only 200 feet apart in elevation so the afr should be similar

    • @oom_701
      @oom_701 6 місяців тому +1

      A Powercommander doesn't tune very stable with big load. Values can vary on every run because the crank signal for the rpm jumps pretty bad because it's a single cylinder and the pickup rate is too slow. At least that's what I noticed when trying things^^

    • @WiscoSumo
      @WiscoSumo 6 місяців тому +2

      @@oom_701 makes sense. An almost 2 AFR jump is a little concerning to me. Wonder if that’s why I’ve seen tuners tune these bikes closer to mid/high 12 AFR so you have a bigger safety net. So then I’m assuming this is only really issue on a 100% throttle run where the throttle is snapped open. Have you found then that it’s best to roll into the throttle (albeit very fast roll) to 100% than just to crack it open as far as trying to keep a flat AFR line?

    • @oom_701
      @oom_701 6 місяців тому +2

      @@WiscoSumo snapping the throttle open or rolling on the trottle doesn't make a difference. As soon the engine got load the rpm signal jumps up and down especially in lower rpm. But tuning from 12.5 - 13.2 afr should be fine

    What did you expect, you can't just put the silencer from a 450 on a 700. The volume of the FMF is far too low for the 690 and you can't solve the problem by just removing the baffle.
    Sell the muffler and buy a used Akrapovic or Leovince designed for your model year. My 2019 690 makes 81hp and 62ft-lbs on the dyno with a Euro4 Akra I bought from eBay for less than half the price you paid for the FMF.

    are you aware every single motorcycle / vehicle on earth thats sold by a major manufacturer is rated at the flywheel, not the tire/wheel.
    anddd dynos's lose 15% hp when comparing to flywheel numbers.... that is why 707hp hellcats dyno at 580ish hp and so on. its like this for everything.

      but yes, all car/motorcycles are rated at the crank or flywheel... not the wheel/tire and there is a 15% loss between the 2.. brands do this so they can always "say" the highest hp.... but to customers in the real world, wheel hp, is all that matters.
      you can compare ANY vehicles brands hp claims, then go watch a dyno video. dyno will ALWAYS be less than claimed brand hp number... example: 707hp hellcats only make about 580wheel hp.
