Right, so Moana 2 got announced like a week after this video released, so um….doesn’t look great for Disney at the moment
Oh yeah, greed is definitely the problem with Disney right now. The higher ups of the company have gotten so far removed from the artists that they fail to understand why people liked Disney in the first place. The last CEO, Bob Chapek, was the worst with this, even publicly stating animation was only for children. For children. (Oh sure, Hunchback of Notre Dame is just a silly movie with silly jokes for kids! No scenes depicting assult or themes of hell here!) He was so oblivious that he completely missed the whole point of the company. He deserved to be fired.
New movies also aren't as great because the animators and writers barely have any time. Just look at the Behind the Scenes docuseries of Frozen 2: the writers had no story planned, things were changed around often, and sometimes the plot had to be made it up AS IT WAS BEING ANIMATED. It move was rushed and the animators barely finished right before the movie went to theaters. It is ridiculous that Disney even had the balls to proudly put that out and act like working people like that is normal. It sucks.
I hope that one day the higher ups at Disney could be people that actually know the craft that they're directing. Maybe they should promote people already in the company instead of just bringing in mindless businessmen.
Ok, thats the end if my rant. This was a great video dude, it's nice so see discussion around Disney that is more than just crying about how terrible things are. Well done, pistachio man.
1. I call this new era "The Plus Era" because we've been getting more sequels since Ralph Breaks the Internet. And we'll be getting more confirmed sequels soon. Also, certain original films have done better on Disney+ rather than theaters.
2. Here's how I see each era:
The Golden Era: 1937-1942
The Package Era: 1943-1949
The Silver Era: 1950-1967
The Bronze Era: 1970-1988
The Renaissance Era: 1989-1999
The Experimental Era: 2000-2008
The Revival Era: 2009-2016 (starting with The Princess and the Frog, most people consider it the starter, including me)
The Plus Era: 2018-present
3. When criticizing a movie, I think that people should separate their feelings about the rest of the company and just judge the movie by itself.
Just wanted to say that people out there value your videos and logic. I watched all your videos in 3 days in chronological order a little while back and I know this is said a lot but you are the most underrated youtuber I have ever seen in my life. You probably have the most coherent reasoning I have ever heard from a reviewer. This channel is really something special, ill be here till the end of it.
Thanks so much! That really means a lot
I call this era the trope era because it feels like they are steady doing the same thing I hope zootopia 2 can be the exciting incident that saves them.
"That was his mistake!" is that your least favorite line? EVER?
Disney has their ups and downs throughout the years, plus people complaining about Disney releasing a new media as been a thing way before the end of the 2010's/beginning of the 2020's.
Disney’s future for movies is dead
Disney’s future of animated tv series however is bright
You should read the books that inspired these movies.
15:29 which is NEVER
The inciting incident of the current downturn of the quality of Disney movies is the woke mind virus, which is why it's the woke era.
Define woke, do it, in your own time :)

So people who aren’t you existing, cool 😊
@@somecanadiangirl1 that's exactly what I said, and not an example of identity politics in itself.
