This is awesome! I still vividly remember watching your old FEZ Workshop over and over when I started out. Thank you for everything you're doing, without you I wouldn't be doing this as my job
You are a LEGEND. Your creative work has inspired me for so many years. Not only that but it's been a place of comfort through this challenging existence we find ourselves in. I play your music and it takes me to a whole other mindset. Thank you seriously
You're the reason why i started pursuing making compositions with synthesizers. Thank you so much for this video! I will share some of my work as soon as i get over-judging myself too hard.
I recently got Massive, but I didn't know where to begin and was overwhelmed by all of the parameters. Thanks to your tutorial, I'm not afraid of it anymore! Plus, I can replicate that sweet Disasterpeace signature sound! Thanks for bringing so much beauty into the world with your art. 💀🎵
Learned so much from this and from the old FEZ workshop as well. It would be great to have even more educational content in the future. You are doing an awesome job!
Thanks for posting this! Awesome to see the process, and to see how your sensibility produces a unique sound from the instrument. Final result post-automation has Tim Wright Shadow of the Beast vibes.
So happy to see you back!! Thanks for uploading this. It brings me back to the FEZ workshop days. I’ve been experimenting with Massive over the past few months and it’s the most inspiring instrument I’ve created sounds for, next to VCV Rack if that counts. Thanks again for sharing this.
WOW!!! So happy this video exists. The FEZ Workshop was one of the most inspiring videos ever and what influenced my pursuing game sound and music as a lifelong career. I can't even contain my excitement that another workshop video of yours exists on youtube now.
this got me to dig out and find a whole new appreciation for massive, also this was insane to watch as a fan of your music, the whole time i was reminded or called back to parts of tracks i love from hyper light and fez
Always a treat to get more knowledge from you. Love your music and how you think your projects (as in the Mini Metro/Motorways games) Also.. Hyper Light Drifter, Fez and The Floor Is Jelly OSTs changed my life. No pressure.
So, I keep coming back to this sound design tutorial but the one thing I'm most curious about is when it comes time to add a B section or some type of change up to the song you're making, do you end up re-tweaking a lot of the modulation and parameters to make it fit the next section you write? Or do you use new instruments entirely when doing a mood change or a new section of a song?
you are nice composer because your music is more lyric and atmosphear than usual music makers. But it would be cool you did something in Progressive jazz or minor synthwave (something in edzes style) with orchestra instruments and djenty guitar )))
21:30 The issue you were having was that the vibrato depth was set to 12 o'clock. If you wanted to control the vibrato with the LFO you would have needed to pull the depth all the way down to zero first!
Hey Disasterpeace. Does you have some favourite Soundtracks of movies and/or games of other people that you like ? It's cool what you have made and I for me is midi(sound) always great, even in times of (big) plugins/sampler... You has influenced and create the stylish feeling of 80s synth in your score 'it follows' which sounds deep and cold or 'Neutralite' that sounds like a game from the past. If there will ever be a part two of 'It Follows' it would be nice if you can create the soundtrack, but look always what project sounds interesting and make your stuff. Thank you for continuing updates and all the best 😉☕️🍹 By the way: I like the soundtrack of 'Neverending Story' and I've tried to create something atmospheric with a combination of the this score and the style of 'Demons Souls' (that was my first experience on the ps3 into the series) -> with both styles and an idea of a song I've created the Song 'Travellink (Mind version)' 😋
Hi Disasterpeace :) I've an unrelated question for you. A few years back a channel on youtube (8 bit music theory) released a video where he analyzed your work. On that video he mentionned that you were inspired by The lydian chromatic concept by George Russell. Is that actually correct ? Since then i've gone through basically every interview you have done but I have never heard you say anything on the subject. So here I'am at last asking you directly. I really hope you will see that comment, i'm so eager to know :)
hi ! borrowed that book from a friend once, and watched some interviews / etc about it ... it was definitely interesting - can't say it ever completely hit home, though treating modes like key centers is not unfamiliar territory either ; )
@@dzasterpeace Thank you so much for your answer ;) I thought that you were influenced by the lydian chromatic concept, at least to a certain extent because it definitely sounds like you are treating the chords in a vertical way ( ie the key centers things you mentionned). I don't know if you take suggestions but it would be super interesting to learn more about your songwriting process (how you use music theory, how you develop a theme and so on). Because your style is really special (i mean that in the best possible way) and the thought process behind it has to be quite unique as well.
@@dzasterpeace just to follow up with what sweetshadow said, please please make more of these types of videos if you have the time/are able. Any insight into your musical process is a gift

See you in a few years for the "They Follow" workshop (:

both of those are totally viable options !
