What part did Topaz play in your enhancement? Stabilizer and grain reduction? Was the brighter picture done with Final Cut? As far as I've seen Topaz does not enhance exposure or colors. Nice footage.
The original Quicktime file was 1080p, but at 16 fps. I used Topaz to convert that to 59.94 fps. That will generate the missing frames that will smooth out the video and make the movement look more natural. It also seems to "stabilize" the video. After that, I then put it in FCP, and added the sharpness filter set at 5%, and the noise reduction filter. Then I exported to a Pro Res file. I've done nothing with color at this point. I then put in Topaz again, set at Artemis Low Quality, and set the artifact type to blurry and ran it through again. Then back into FCP, added the sharpness and noise reduction filter again. This time I also added the "balance color" filter, which brightened it up. I also wend to the color board and changed the Saturation to Shadows-25, Midtones-20, and Highlights-25.
Scott, many thanks for posting this. Curious as to the software you used for the split view? I might have mentioned that I also use Topaz Video AI, and am getting good results. You mentioned using Artemis Low Quality with artifact type set to blurry - can't find artifact setting in Artemis? Another question is what is the max. resolution you work with? Again, many thanks for sharing this. Larry Rood@@escapemac
