You can talk to anyone to join as a merc not just clan leaders. They also must be at war to join as a merc. Contract is paid at 20% influence rounded down +1 X merc contract. Working steward to 275 and charm 50 and 275 are amazing as well.

You can tell who will pay you more by looking at the kingdoms in the in game encyclopedia, sorting by total strength, and see who has the lowest. They will pay you more than a kingdom that has a higher strength. This way you don’t have to go around and physically to each faction

Correction: they pay more depending on the strength difference between them and who they are at war with. Want more money? Find the weakest who is at war with the strongest, the greater the difference in strength the more money they will offer you.
Can i own my kingdom. Or own a castle/city. And be mercenery???
@BmxScooby11 yeah man, idk how but on my first run I joined a culture and got elected emperor from my war efforts. I have no idea how I did it though. Thing king literally stepped down n was like... you be king bro lol.

It sucks, I joined as a merc for the southern empire, and they were at war with the western empire, and got a quest to raid 3 villages and as soon as I finished raiding my first one, they made peace so I missed out on so much money.

I have latest full release version of the game but when i capture first castle or city i'm not getting option of Create Kingdom, any idea what could be the issue?
You got to be clan tier 4 and have a fief to start a kingdom by yourself or clan tier 3 with the main story

Edit: how to make 1k per day in 2 hours or so of gameplay😂 do that on top of buying a shop in a profitable city and youll be a warlord in no time.
