I like the spots of pink, it shows the cool chemical reactions going on. This dress would pair with navy leggings and denim sandals as well. You are an artist and a wizard Angie :)
Lile the white lines..came out really cool..seen a guy use fish line instead of sinew n it left the white lines..i have that n am gonna try it..awesome vid..thanks for sharing
I really like your use of, and the effect of Ecru over the ice. I have struggled to find the best use for this crazy color. This may be the best application for Ecru..
Thank you! I really love Ecru for geodes. It does a great job to fill in some of the blank spaces and add just a little added texture, and I think it adds a more natural feel to geodes. I've never found a use for it in liquid form though.
first of all , thank you for listing everything. second NOW i have to order Lapis........ third....... thank you for your very good , clear, instructions . finally...... LOVE this dress.
Hi Angie! I absolutely love this dress, it turned out so beautiful with all of the different blues. I especially love the color split with the pink! Is this dress for sale on your website? And if so, what size is it?
I love the colors on this. If I were making it, it couldn't be a dress since I don't wear them & the color stripes would probably be wider. Overall, it gives a really pretty design. Thank you for the video.
I really like how vibrant the colors are when an item is ice dyed. I have a couple of questions. Do you find that this method uses more or less (or about the same) dye than - I guess I’d call it traditional dying? And, do you ever re-use the sinew? (For anything)
I'm not really sure if this uses more or less dye - I honestly haven't ever measured it for that purpose. I would think that with the lighter colors (The Dharma colors that only use 2 teaspoons of dye to mix 1 cup of liquid dye), I am probably using more dye for ice dye. However, with the darker colors (the Dharma colors that take 4 or 8 teaspoons of dye to mix 1 cup of liquid dye), I am probably using less dye when I use those colors for ice dyeing. I know that I've weighed them before to get an idea of cost involved with ice dye vs. liquid dye and I was very surprised that the cost was very close to being the same. I haven't ever re-used my sinew. After the sinew is used once, the wax coating is no longer intact and most of time mine is stained. I'm not sure that the amount of work involved to try to clean it without totally stripping all the wax off would be worth it. I don't use sinew for any other purpose other than tie dye - if you did then maybe it could be re-used.
How many of your cake molds did you use for this one? And did you know that you're apparently influencing Amazon's algorithm? On the listing for these, where it says "people who bought this also bought..." it doesn't show baking stuff. It shows urea and squirt bottles and lab spoons.
I'm not sure - I think about 10-12. I had no idea, but I think that it's awesome that they are messing with Amazon's algorithm. The cake molds are truly perfect for tie dyes like this one!
Looks very pretty indeed. With so many variations of a color to choose from, how do you go about doing that? Do you just figure you're gonna want so many darker ones and then so many lighter ones and then randomly pick them? Do you have favorites within each color pool?
Thank you! With this one I kind of cheated. I've used this color palette before on a geode t-shirt and I loved it, so I thought I would use it on this dress. I usually try to find a natural geode photo and match dye colors to the photo if possible. Otherwise, I pull out my color swatches and try to pull colors that look good together. I do try to add a mixture of light and dark colors to add some contrast. Most of the time I try to add in some earth tones too. Depending on the color palette, I will use either beige/browns or grays. I definitely try to keep the dye placement as random as possible. I do have favorites of each color family. Sometimes I will choose one of those and build a palette based upon that color.
I just showed my wife the video I guess I’ll be making this one next as soon as she picks out the style of dress she wants and I was wondering how do you keep your cake molds so clean mine got stained the first time I used them it doesn’t hurt anything was just wondering
That's awesome - I'm glad she likes it! I wash mine after each use in a little bit of soapy water. There are a few stains on mine too from really dark colors.

Hi Angie, hope all is well with you haven't seen any new posts of your wonderful videos. As always the dress is beautiful.
Hi Suzie -
Yes, all is well. I have been busy in my personal life. New posts are coming soon though.
@@FunEndeavors Thanks Angie. Nice to hear you are well. Looking forward to your awesome videos! Talk to ya soon.
I really like it. I would love to see the dress on a person or mannequin or something. I love the colors and the technique. Thx!
Thank you so much! I agree - I've been looking for a mannequin to purchase, but so far I haven't found one that I am happy with.

Since I love this one so much you know you have to do a geode dress now. Thanks for always sharing:)

Love it! Where did you get the T-Shirt Dress?
Thank you! It is a T-shirt dress from H&M.
I love those, I have one of these as well, and I love the sleeveless ones they sell right now as well.
@@mlledupont Awesome - I haven't purchased any of the sleeveless ones. I'll have to give them a try!

There's at least one other if not more tie dyers on YT that are also using these cake molds, so, yes, I can believe it's influencing Amazon.
@@IronCladMedia it’s because we all learned from Angie. 😉❤️🌈
It looks a bit too stripey for me, but it could be because it’s laying on a flat surface. When it’s on a body it could look a lot different.
It's really hard to photograph some items. I have been looking for a mannequin that I can use, but so far I haven't had any success.
