    I'm not German, nor specially familiar with it, but I'd guess the "not illegal to escape prison" would only mean that no extra time would be added to your sentence (or rather, no extra sentence added to your previous sentence).
    Pretty sure the police would still be lookinf for a fugitive and bring them back to prison, should they catch them.
    I think.

    • @headhunter1945
      @headhunter1945 Рік тому +55

      You have it exactly right. You will still be wanted for escape and apprehended if possible, but the escape itself will not increase your time in jail. That is, of course, not the case for any crimes you might commit in the process of escaping.

    • @tarksurmani6335
      @tarksurmani6335 Рік тому +15

      Also you would get extra time for all the crimes you committed while escaping, like killing the guard, stealing clothes etc.....You just don't get extra time for the escape.

      Yes, the law actually the same here in Sweden. However, in practice, people often commit other crimes when they escape (violence, threatening people, reckless driving, etc.).

      @@tarksurmani6335 I think it's possible to escape prison without killing anybody or stealing clothes. I don't know if German prisoners get parole like they do in the US, but 'escaping prison' can be as easy as just not returning from parole, and a lot of countries allow low-security prisoners to wear normal civilian clothes so you could blend in quite easily.

    If I were to give a literary recommendation, it would be to study an atlas. Just look at it. Become familiar with it. I remember as a boy studying an old atlas long before I ever imagined that I would have the good fortune to travel. It filled me with wonder. I’m grateful for every country I’ve travelled to. A very large section of Canada was scraped under glacier back in the last ice age. They were like icy bulldozers pushing whatever they scraped up south; and then, when they receded dropped a lot of embedded material. There were a lot of eroded holes in the rock that the glaciers scraped over. In general at least. Makes for great cottage country in some places.

    People are sleeping on The Gambia --- but it's best left that way. The government and the people like to remain peaceful, they're also home to the original Jollof rice. There was a bit of political uprising a few years back but it was barely covered by the news. I do recall a few Gambians I know mention offering aide to nearby countries (mainly Senegal) when they were going through political issues as well. Every person I've met from there so far has been very mild mannered and they never once raise their voice. Love that little hidden gem of a country and its people.

Once on the U.S. side, the surroundings were closer to what one would see if they'd driven into the mountains to a cabin or vacation home. Prior to the pandemic, Pt. Roberts had mostly Canadian home-owners and visitors.. so much so that the gas stations there charge by the litre instead of by the gallon.

    German here, while it's true that it's not illegal to escape prison, there are of course stipulations. The biggest one would be that if you escape and destroy stuff or harm other humans, everything you have done will be added to your sentence.
    On the other hand, if you manage to escape without committing another crime and they catch you after the fact... legally speaking they can not extend your sentence.

    *As for videos, I recommend "Geography Now," whose mission is to cover every country in the world in alphabetical order, and in segments of about 30 minutes each. (My only complaint about it is that they skipped Taiwan, which is a de facto independent country.) As for books, I recommend "The Languages of the World" (2nd edition), by Kenneth Katzner, that lists every country that existed in the early 1980's and covers about 200 languages, including those spoken in the "Autonomous Republics" of the former Soviet Union. Unfortunately, the 3rd edition is riddled with mistakes. So, if you keep in mind that the USSR doesn't exist anymore, I believe that the 2nd edition is much better. (Although the 2nd edition is out-of-print, you can still buy copies of it from "independent vendors," via Amazon or other online bookstores.) As for literature or philosophy, I guess Wittgenstein didn't have much to say about the countries of the world! 🙂*

Would not recommend 😆 even if you escape with the inmates clothes it could be theft or if you damage something it’s property damage and all of it is added on the sentence if you get caught again. And even if you will be able to escape completely clean you’re not a free person. You just don’t have to do extra time if they get you again… as far as I know and can describe it with my english

This is the one reactor where I have EVER learned something from. Actually reacting with fruitful comments, and often pre-saying what the video does - as a show of knowledge. Hopefully this channel shows the viewers of other react channels that yes, it can be better. Sometimes the grass IS greener.

      I agree! i hate typical React content, or worse when creators react to reactions.... feels so bottom-feederish. However, No Protocol doesn't rely on just being a pretty face and actually has something between ears. Always enjoy how her comments are thoughtful and can provide her own insight to the conversation.

    Whereas it is not illegal to attempt to escape prison, it's just a technicality, because almost all ways to escape involve the commission of other other crimes (violence against guards, damage of public property, forgery of official documents, etc etc.)

    In many countries it's not illegal to escape from prison, but most of the acts that lead to escape from prison are illegal on their own. Also, if they escape with prison clothes on, it's considered theft.

    May need to re-watch this at some point. The narrator moved quickly (necessary, all things considered), and being a bit unfocused as I just got up not long ago, I didn't catch all he said. If I'm going to spend time on UA-cam, I think this is the type of channel to spend it with. Good video selection, and I'll keep an eye out for part 2.

      Hmmmm, well from what I read, in the province of Quebec alone it is estimated that there are with much confidence more than 500k lakes, with some researchers claiming that it's closer to a million than half a million. Anyway, even if we say there are barely 500k lakes up there, I don't quite imagine well how there could only be 300-400k more lakes in the rest of Canada, although I think it is known that the province with the highest number of lakes is Quebec.

    Game developers balance games giving the the player a challenge that is neither too hard they get frustrated and give up or too easy when it requires no skill. Game breaking is when this balance is destroyed, normally by an over powered stategy or item.

    Yep, you can't escape German prisons without adding to your sentence when you're caught again, but only if you don't cause harm or extensive damage. Switzerland has now removed those explosive charges since the threat of a land invasion seemed an unlikely scenario. And then Russia invaded Ukraine.
