“Serge protectors can fail, shocking”. Thats it , young man, you’re grounded untill you can better conduct yourself. I mean ohm my god, please don’t take this as negative feedback but I couldn’t resist. Stay positive out there.

Haha, I noticed that in editing, oh well lol. BTW I feel more grounded when I am being negative!

Changed from the progressive last year to the watchdog. The progressive does have a lifetime warranty but mailing the unit in was about a 4 week prospect... Had the watchdog installed in a couple days from Amazon... Just made more sense 👍

4 weeks without a surge protector is unacceptable. How do you even know it is not working and needs to be sent in?

Gary that is one one reason I don't have Watch Dog, which everyone wants. I bought a Surge Guard, it is guaranteed. They should give you that board free. I have had a RVer next to me have his Watch Dog go out while I was there.

Does your Surge Guard tell you when it is no longer protecting you? I don’t think so Don be careful. The joules get used up and you may never know it. Mine was 4 years old and 3-5 years is the average with a good surge protector. They all get used up with over voltage spikes.

@@RVLIVINGLIFE Yes, mine goes through a series of checks every time, and when the voltage or something's not right, it will not let anything through which has saved me many times. Some parks have bad electricity.

@@CowboyBikerAdventures As far as I know all surge protectors will detect any errors at the pedestal like no ground, no neutral, ground and neutral reversed, no power on line 1 or line 2 etc. they also all detect voltage spikes and some detect low power on either line. The surge guard we had did not detect low voltage which in why we replaced ours 4 years ago. Maybe they have added the low voltage detection to the Surge Guard since then. High voltage (over 132v)attacks electronics, low voltage (under 104v) is hard on motors like AC units. All surge protectors have a joule rating. I think the 50 amp surge guard is 4200 joules. Every power spike will hack away at the amount of joules you have left. Once they are all used up it will still protect you from everything except voltage spikes. The voltage spikes will go straight through undetected to the RV. The issue I discovered is they all eventually run out of joules and none of them warn you that you are no longer protected against surges except the power watchdog as far as I know.

You will not regret it. I love the fact I can use bluetooth to connect to the watchdog as I plug in. Please feel free to hit one of my links to take you to amazon 😊

Those are nice features on the Watchdog that Progressive doesn’t have. I’m on #3 with them. Returning is not necessary, only photos to doc the condition of the unit and your plugs.
I do like my Hughes autoformer.
What happened to your hose reel?

The hose reel failed a while ago and it has not hit the top of the repair list yet lol. The list never ends…

No it did not catch on fire. The reason we use surge protectors are to prevent fires.

@ thanks for letting me know because I have anxiety and austim and everytime I look something up that has burn spots on it I unplug it i know I’m being paranoid but i know my dad wouldn’t get something that wouldn’t catch on fire but I was just terrified so what happened if the surge protector stopped working does it burn out or it just stop working…?
