      Trade Love, IT, and the Brooklyn pick and see if you can get George and Boogie or Deandre. They need a wing defender and a rim protector to compete with Golden State.

    what it boils down to is that every nba great has brought their authenticity to the game. nick said it, only player to post 30k pts...7k reb...7k assist which both are bout to be 8k. the fact that he was able to do this coming straight out of high school!!!.... to me, greatness is a matter of authenticity. lebron is the only in any playoff series, let alone, the finals to lead both teams in all 5 categories. he gets my respect; keep doing what you're doing King James. #muchlove

    Nick’s statement about LeBron living up to the hype is so true. Think back to when you were 15. How immature and inexperienced you were as compared to now. Now imagine being 15 and having the whole world know you. Imagine being 18 and entering the highest tier of basketball in the world, and EXCEEDING to the standards placed on you. This has always been to me the greatest thing about LeBron. Props for 30K points, and many to come.

      Cedrick Carson because his position is really a Point forward/Point guard. He prefers to find the open man and pass up his opportunity to score. Sooo it’s very impressive he’s the youngest to score from every point total from 1,000-30,000

    • @Armygirlsdad

      With his ability, he could've been averaging over 35 ppg multiple years running. He's the only member of the 18k/8k/8k club. His first instinct is to facilitate. "He's not a scorer" means he doesn't have the mentality of a scorer. He has the mentality of a facilitator. His scoring comes second to his facilitating.

    of course lebron will probably pass magic johnson. magic johnson had to retire from the game at age 32 after 11 seasons. it will take probably take lebron until his 18th-19th season to catch magic. theres a reason why he is number 5 on the all time assist leader board. if he had a normal career johnson would probably be either number 2 or 1 and have 5000-6000 more assists.

    Magic = 19 pts and 11 asts a game. So 19 + 22 (each assist is 2 pts if not a 3 but for at least sake it’s 2). So that’s at least 41 pts a game scored or assisted on.
    Jordan = 30pts and 5ast so 30 + 10 = at least 40 pts a game scored or assisted on.
    Lebron = 27pts and 7ast so 27 + 14 = at least 41 pts scored or assisted on.
    Now this all on average so I’m not cherry picking anything. They all got basically 40 a game through scoring and assisting.
    I don’t know if anyone else comes close. Bird had 24 and 6 so that’s 36 and Kobe had 25 and 5 so that’s 35. Maybe Oscar but pace adjusted I’m not sure. Magic, Lebron, and Jordan were all equally great offensively on average they just got there a little differently.
    Though Kobe and Lebron playing longer than MJ, Magic, and Bird actually brings their averages down. So they should get a boost for longevity.

    The major thing that many people forget is that jordan miss the 1986 with an injury and retire for 1 full season and the half of the other (1994-1995) and then retire again for 2 full seasons (1999-2000) so if he didn't retire from the game he should reach 30k points at 33 so he will be the youngest and he will pass by far the 40k

    The only thing that I would dispute in Cowherd's rant is the notion that we have never seen another athlete with the awesome power and durability of Lebron James. That other athlete is the great Jim Brown. In his day, in his prime, there was absolutely no other athlete in a team sport that could compare with him. He played nine seasons and never missed a game. Coaches on opposing teams built their defenses to stop one man; and they couldn't stop him. He set the standard for all other professional footballers; and his records stood for twenty years, until they were ultimately challenged by players who had to play more games per season to amass the totals that would equal and surpass Brown's numbers. He was, without a doubt, the greatest physical specimen of his era (1950s-1960s).

If you want a pure scorer you obviously take Jordan, if you want a great all around player.. you take Lebron. It’s all preference but I’ll end this comment with this, in 1992/1993 The Bulls went 57-25, the year after WITHOUT Jordan they went 55-27.... now for Lebron, in 2009/2010 they went 61-21 the year after WITHOUT Lebron they went 19-63.... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    LeBron is not a "pass first" player. He averages 7 assist per game, not 15. Meanwhile Jordan the "ballhog" only averages 2 less assists. You mean to tell me the difference between ballhog and passfirst player is 2 lousy assists per game?

    • @SirCharlesDeKoy
      @SirCharlesDeKoy 6 років тому +8

      Antonio Sanders well, 2 assists per game is 40% more than Jordan so yes it is a big difference. Not to mention he is averaging almost 8 this year and over 10 last year in the post season.
      He hasn't really played like the point forward he is his whole career. Especially not in Miami. But that is for sure his natural tendency, I think that's the point Colin was making.
      It's about his playstyle and natural tendencies, not what he is forced to do by circumstance.
      Kobe and Jordan were scorers, that doesn't mean they never got assists.
      LeBron is a point forward, doesn't mean he never scores.

      saying he is not a pass 1st player because he doesnt average double digit assist is unfair seeing how virtually no one does that. over time averaging 2 assist more a game does add up, for example, if lebron and jordan only played 10 years that average 2 assist turns into a difference of 1600+ assist.

    In my opinion, if we are going to talk greatest ever, we have 1. Jordan 2-4. Kareem, Russell, and Magic 5. Lebron. Until Lebron passes any of those 2-4 in anything they are good at, then we will open up the debate for whether he is the GOAT. Magic = better passer/ ran best offense ever, 9 finals appearances in 12 years, 5 rings (Bron averaged less assists, less rebounds, less finals appearances as of now 8 in 11 years, 3 rings). Russell won more rings, 3 rings as a player/coach (Bron has 1), averages more rebounds and blocks, and is a better leader for the loads and loads of hof players they both played with (Ray Allen, Wade, Kyrie, Bosh and former allstars include: Rose, Korver, Love, Rishard Lewis, Shaq, Deron Williams). Kareem had more points, rebounds, mvps, blocks, championships than Lebron and beats him in every longevity category except assists and steals.

    The youngest player to reach 30,000 points isn't a scorer? Lol. That's the perfect example of a contradiction. I get his point though. And a lot of people try to make this incorrect point. It's not that LeBron isn't a scorer. He clearly is! Again, he's the youngest to reach 30,000 points, with a pretty good field goal percentage at that, further proving the point. Anyway, the reason people get this wrong because he's a guy that can do most things really really well due to the combination of his athleticism, basketball intelligence, and strength. We're not used to seeing scorers posses these varying abilities. It tricks untrained eye into thinking LeBron isn't a scorer because we're forced to appreciate other factors of his game. But he's an amazing scorer, and an amazing passer, a winner, and so many other great things in basketball. So again, what is happening is people look at scorers like Jordan, Kobe, or whoever, and admire them for their scoring abilities. It's what shines when you think of those guys. Ask anyone what Jordan and Kobe were good at, and most will say scoring. The truth is, if Lebron averaged half as many assists and rebounds as he did for his career, he'd be considered a scorer too. I'm sure some will say, "but he's a pass first guy", "and we just mean that scoring comes second for him". Well guess what? He's 7th on the all time scoring list (youngest to get there), but 12th on the all time assists list. Just something to ponder.

But yet, Colin says that Kareem is the greatest scorer ever, yea he scored the most amount of points by a stretch which is amazing but look at who he did that to, some of these bench players today would be legends if they played back then, nobody back then besides the 90’a players and late 80’s was that great

    It's easy to beat Magic in assists when Magic only played in 906 games vs LeBron already playing 201 MORE games and is still over 2,300 assists away from "passing" Magic... Ridiculous. Also, being the youngest to 30K is very impressive but MJ lost nearly his entire age 22 season and didn't play at age 20 in the league. MJ averaged over 2,500 points per season in his first 8 seasons he scored 26,055 pts, that's not counting his age 22 or 31 seasons where he only played 17 games due to injury and 18 because he was retired for almost 2 years. LeBron hit 30k in 15 seasons. Any of these historical stats can be broken if the player plays long enough. The per game averages is what matters to me. Magic averaged over 11 assists per game and scored just shy of 20 points per game. No doubt if he shot more and passed less Magic has LeBron's 27-7-7 stash line, instead Magic is 19.5-11-7

    • @chosenone8964
      @chosenone8964 6 років тому

      Jeff Hill the only problem with your argument is that Magic Johnson's efficiency would have plummeted. his game was free throw line in and he's probably the only player in history whose scoring was the direct product of his passing instead other way around. He averaged 19.5 because it would've taken him too many tries to put up those numbers consistently.

    Overall career stats don't prove anything. Lebron can have the career records. Even Mark Jackson has more assists than Magic, Oscar, Isiah, and Payton. That doesn't make him better. Karl Malone has more points than Shaq, Wilt, and MJ. Doesn't mean he's a better scorer. Same with Lebron getting more career points than MJ.
    Lebron will probably have most of the career records, but he doesn't measure up to the likes of Jordan in the playoffs and finals, where it actually matters most. Lebron in his prime, choked away the 2011 finals and was outscored by bench player Jason Terry, and this was while playing 11 more mins per game than him.

      Captainpuntymidgets you also said Jordan would struggle in today’s league? Why was he getting 25 6 and 7 in the 2002 season up until he got injured? Why was averaging 20 ppg on 46% shooting at 40 against modern players ? Lol

      Captainpuntymidgets Dwyane Wade shot 17% from 3 in 2006..... he got finals mvp that year. This notion that you have that Jordan somehow wouldn’t improve his 3pt game the same way Kobe, Lebron, DeMarcus cousins, etc. did is quite laughable

      Captainpuntymidgets You really think if Jordan played in today's game he would be content hoisting up 10 threes a game on his immediate defenders? Ever watch the defenses he and the Bulls went up against in the late 80s/early 90s? If Jordan wasn't afraid to drive to the hoop and get clobbered by those beasts of the East you favor to guess he would be hesistant to do so against some of today's team defenses? He wouldn't need to make his 3 from behind the arc. He'd get it the old fashioned way. Time and time again. At least 15 trips to the charity stripe every night. Jordan would RIP LeBron's (and everyone else's) heart out, squash it, stick his tongue out for good measure, laugh about it all the way to another 3-peat then retire early because he is bored of the competition and would rather spend his time gambling.

    As the truly observant sports fans are likely thinking: If last night was not one of the most definitive microcosms of the LeBron James story, then I do not know what is:
    A defining non-postseason, (non-team) personal achievement/moment for a superstar who seemingly never misses significant time from injury (because of tremendous strength/conditioning/other factors) while losing a game his underachieving team really should have won; possibly because of defensive/team chemistry/head coach's job status issues.

      The Yeti Wilt was a freak of nature. They literally had to change the rules because of him. He was a stat monster, not a winner like Russell. But he's hardly overrated. He once lead the league in assists just to prove he could.

      Magic had to quit because he boinked over 1,000 different girls. He had no self-control and no desire to gain self-control. It's his fault he had to quit, not like a sports injury.

    LEBRON IS A SCORER. Why do we try to act as if he isn’t. Even IF he beats Magic in assists, Magic retired at 31 years old. Lebron has already played way longer and more. Stop this nonsense man.

    • @MOBOBBA2166
      @MOBOBBA2166 6 років тому

      Because if magic did it in that less of a Time and it takes LeBron longer to beat Magic's record in passing that proves how great magic was and if LeBron gets it that piece how great LeBron is at passing.
