Commenting this since not many have mentioned this...
Such an incredible review. The notes and it's details makes me really appreciate your attention to detail. People like you should be the ones to alpha test these products before releasing to public
Many thanks 👍 And happy to read a positive comment. I plan to review the Amazfit Cheetah 🐆 soon...
@@PeterHerget do you have any thoughts on the coros pace 2? Going back and forth between it and Garmin FR55. Turned off by the FR55 by it's small screen size tho
I have yet to try the COROS Pace 2. I ordered the COROS Vertix 2 Pro, but the shipping was delayed. I hope to have time to unbox the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar watch tomorrow though and I am VERY excited for another solar wearable in my life :)
@@aaditya722 I've been wearing the COROS Apex 2 Pro for the past week 24/7 and it has been wonderful! The new maps are great, over two weeks of battery life, sapphire screen, 64 colours, bright indoors/outdoors, and comfortable to wear. I'll have a video about this COROS smartwatch later this week or early next week.
So true
This is such a detailed description, loved that you had notes. I can feel in voice that this man truly enjoys what hes doing, keep up the good work and would like to do more reviews like this, expecially with watches that you had been using for over 6 months
Thank you, and sure, I would be happy to make one about the Amazfit Falcon or did you another timepiece in mind?
Finally, a real review, instead of reading specification out loud and showing menu.
AMEN! Reading specifications is feckless and I promise to avoid it whenever possible. My task is to use the freaking device, gadget, and services. If I fail to tell you at least seven things you cannot read of their marketing pages, yeah, UA-cam should fire me 😁
I dint come for the watch, but your revew - the points you noted - amazing! Hope you do many more reviews :)
Much appreciated! And yes, more reviews to come.
good detailed watch review props, just the info I needed to buy👍👍👍
Thanks! 👍
You can use Power Save mode as substitute of Flight Mode. Bluetooth will be also disabled in this mode.
Yes, you can use "Battery-Power-Save Mode" alas, that disabled HR tracking and sleep tracking. Airplane Mode should be a standard for any wearable - especially a smartphone selling for nearly $300.00 USD. The other feature the makes my blood boil is when companies sell this wearable gadgets to track our health and fail to include a "shutdown" feature if the human wants to take a break from health analysis. Anyway... thank you for your tip about the Power-Save Mode and I hope you are enjoying your Holiday Season with the Amazfit T-Rex or T-Rex 2.
Wowww i'm so amazed by all your pros and cons.
Thank you so much mister.
You are welcome, Kenny. Thanks for clicking on by and hope I helped you make the right purchase decision on a watch.
Good overview.. and love the journal idea I should start doing that. I always forget half the pros/cons
Thanks for watching Rando! Yeah, the daily journal allowed me to make, edit, and publish that video in less than two hours. Hooray for iMovie, copious notes, and a fun wearable to test😎
Such a thorough video, you deserve a lot more views and subscribers!
Glad you think so! It was a fun video to make and the Amazfit T-Rex 2 was a fun wearable to test.
A new watch to watch you review? YES, and another great video!🙂
Hope you enjoyed the view and thank you for clicking on by...
Hi ! Just bought the watch yesterday and had the first problem: during shower, when the water from the shower head hit the screen, the watch act like if it a finger and start swipe left, right, up and down by itself. Quite weird ! Anyone have the same problem? Thanks
You can quickly "lock" the screen before you go near water and that should avoid this problem. I wear my Amazfit Falcon swimming, into tbe shower, bath, hot tub, washing dishes, and the "lock" feature functions near perfectly...
Excellent review sir! Very detailed ... no fluff... and your pros and cons are exactly what consumers need!
I appreciate your positivity! I've been in a funk the last few days and have not been able to get back "online" and post another video. I'm testing the Amazfit Falcon this month and comparing to...
1. Garmin Fēnix 7X sapphire solar
2. Apple Watch 6 LTE
3. Fitbit Sense 2.0
4. Polar GRIX X
5. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro
I am striving to decipher how accurate the Amazfit sensor has become over the years and the quality of hardware/software Amazfit inserted into their $500.00 USD Falcon smartphone. I may post my findings on this channel or my other, "The Man with Two Watches"

I have Xiaomi S1 watch...had problems with notifications too, but I found a way to make it work. Since I enabled notifications to turn on watch screen they started to work correctly. Before I wasn't always receiving notifications.
Nicely done with troubleshooting 👍 I have yet to try the Xiaomi S1. How long have you been wearing that watch?
I have the Apple Watch 7 w/ Cellular support. I just got my Amaz Fit 2 Pro. Let me just say, “I’m in LOVE!!!!!! This watch is great. Does every and and MORE!!!!
Hooray for a positive experience 👍🏻
I am curious, how long have you had your Amazfit 2 Pro? Have you encountered any irregularities with the heart rate?
Excellent review. I love the notes and walk through of each discrepancy. Outstanding job!!!!
Thank you kindly and it was a fun watch to review. I still have the Amazfit T-Rex 2.0 years later and yes, it still works. I switched to the Ocean Blue special edition T-Rex version. I hope that one day Amazift will release the T-Rex 3.0 with full button navigation or touch screen...
I have the Trex 2 and it’s a good watch except.
I can no longer scroll through the watch faces on the app without it refreshing and making me start at the top again. In other words I can now never see the newest watch faces. The app has serious issues and bugs. Are you having this problem?
I was just scrolling through the watchfaces to practice for a video review of the Amazfit Falcon. The ZEPP app does have issues and yes, I was having scrolling issues. I just tried again after my OnePlus 9 smartphone was upgraded to Android OS 13. I can scroll, but it is not fluid. I simply have to swipe slowly from one face to another.
Good comprehensive review. I wonder if it's possible to set waypoints in the gps hiking mode - or other moving sports modes.
Thanks for the great info.
Thank you and glad you liked my video. Sorry, I don't believe that is an option as of yet.
Amazing battery life for Amazfit.
My applewatch and Samsung lasted only about 5 hours on Strava.
My Garmin Instinct 2X was charged yesterday and it tells me I have 29 days left. I hope Amazfit released a solar charging watch soon 🤞
Does this show an elevation graph like the Garmin Fenix series watches do outside of a "workout" session?
I don't recall. There were pretty good elevation statistics though.
Great job Peter! I just received mine yesterday and these pros and cons are pretty cool!
Wonderful news and I hope you enjoy your T-Rex 2 smartwatch!
Are you going to use your Amazfit T-Rex 2 to track your next triathlon race? I just subscribed to your channel for a review :)
@@PeterHerget thank you!! Today will be my first official training session with t-rex 2!
@@PeterHerget YES! I will certainly use it to track my first triathlon 🔥😍 tks for subscribing! I subscribed to your channel as well! 🦾
@@VivaPuraVida excellent! I have a great training session, and yes, listen to that heart rate 😁
Hi peter and thx for the review, what about glass protection level & compare it to previous models !?
The glass screen cover on the T-Rex 2 was not as scratch resistant as I prefer. I ended up ditching the T-Rex 2 when I heard rumors of the Amazfit Falcon. Over 50 days later, and yes, I am still wearing the Falcon about 30% of my week. I enjoy the way it looks, I love sapphire glass, and they keep updating the heart-rate algorithms and making the wearable gadget even smarter and more accurate. I predict that by the end of Q2-2024 yes, Garmin, Fitbit, and perhaps Apple, may take a second look at Amazfit and wonder why they are losing market share...
I kinda really love this watch. All the fitness stuff is novelty IMHO. Sure, it's interesting, but really, even when I was seriously into fitness (physical training was a huge part of my life for 20+ years) you just don't use all that stuff. Heart rate? Blood oxygen? Ha. Frivolities. The tools you need are various timers, maybe a GPS, and some way to log distances and weights and activities in the general sense.
I digress.
My requirements: durability, a long battery charge (once a week or longer between charges), notifications, some of those tools I mentioned above, a pomodoro timer, and it has to be attractive. All the rest of the features are just interesting.
This watch is impressive. An ePaper display would have been nice for those of us who live substantially outside, but ePaper can make the interfaces more complicated, so I get the choice.
Anyway. I think this is a truly great watch.
Thank you Todd for sharing your thoughts about Amazfit, and your fitness requirements for a ⌚️ watch. It will definitely be interesting to see where the T-Rex line of smartwatches goes and how they are able to compete with Garmin, Coros, Fitbit, Apple, and Samsung. Their workout app for weight lighting needs a complete overall - Garmin wins with that fitness category. With running, hiking, cycling, and other similar sports, yes, Amazfit is in the ballpark 😄
Nice bloopers at the end :D
Thank you! I don't have bloopers for every video I shoot, but yes, once in while they simply happen...
Point to note of sleep tracking. If you are a shift worker that sleeps during untraditional hours, ie I sleep during the daytime when I work nights. It tracks daytime sleep as naps and it doesn't display accurately. I typically go to sleep from 6am to 2pm and this is always recognized as a nap and not actual sleep. So annoying. This is specifically a watch/system design. It would be nice if they addressed this at some point.
I wonder if Fitbit, Apple, Garmin, Samsung, OURA, or Polar would be good at tracking different sleeping hours. I completely agree with you - a smart wearable should not need a "window" nor a specific time frame of 20:00 to 08:00 to track a human's sleep. Years ago I used to work graveyard and would sleep from 07:00 to 14:00, alas, I didn't have any wearables to track my sleep at that time. Please, let me know if that changes. I am wearing the Amazfit Falcon now and the way it tracks naps is not the best either...
The new "Circular Ring" I am testing right now (just slept with it for the 9th night in a row) has a setting for "Day Worker" or "Night Worker" and this allows the smart tech, and application, to better track & analyze your sleep no matter the time of day. And yes, the Circular Ring also tracks naps.
I love the efforts you show reviewing this watch. Very helpful since I bought the watch last week and still getting to know the features. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 kindly. I am going yo strap back on my Amazfit T-Rex 🦖 🦖 2.0 smart watch again next week for another video in the works. And the simple fact that many people still are quite interested in this model. Thank you for clicking on by…
An Absolutely Passionate & wonderfully done technical review, i truly appreciate the hard work you have put into this video.... Thank you so much 👍🏻 Happy New Year 😊😊
Much appreciated and thank you watching the long, detailed video 😃
what is the pad yo are using to take hand written notes ? and is is possible that connect with a power mt on the bike ? I have it on the pedals . thank you
I was writing on the reMarkable 2 tablet using electronic ink 😁 It was my favorite gadget from 2020 and I yes, I use it every day. Here's a playlist for all of my reMarkable reviews: ua-cam.com/play/PL14X2qklpxc-wZkGvlHDIri-CCen6NOHu.html
Per your question about the Amazfit, yeah, I tried three different workouts to connect the T-Rex 2 to my indoor row machine, and nope, the Pro-Form never did see the heart rate my Amazfit timepiece was broadcasting. I did further research and checked my steps - nope, even after another try it would not communicate. My theory is this: if I cannot get a simple heart-rate comm going smoothly a Bluetooth bike pedal pairing would not function with the T-Rex 2. Perhaps, Amazift will do some further testing and add "accessories" to the T-Rex 3...
I very much appreciate the review on this watch! It was suggested that I keep an eye on my health. I hope this works. I haven't worn a watch in years. ? it may sound silly but in the bicycle mode for example it gives speed. Will the speed of a Personal Water Craft on the water give a current speed that I'm riding since it has 5 satellites? Thanks Rodney
Thanks for the question, Scube. And yes, smartwatches are able to determine the speed of motor vehicles. I even used my Garmin on an airplane the other year my watch reached over 130 miles and then... I placed it in airplane mode to avoid any issues with the Flight Attendant ;)
@@PeterHerget Thank You
You are... MOST welcome.
Do you get the OTA update on 25th july regarding the real time navigation and gpx file import? 😁
I just spoke with another dude online, and he bought his T-Rex 2 sometime in June - no update as of yet and the mysterious O.T.A. (over-the air) software fixes for both maps & navigation was due 24 hours ago. Yes, I think and hope they plan on delivering🤞
The best watch I have ever owned. My Apple Watch will be sold.
I am glad you think so and like your Amazfit. I sent my T-Rex 2 back and bough, and kept, the Amazfit Falcon. I fully understand why everyone enjoys wearing the T-Rex or the T-Rex 2 so much - especially for the price and all the features Amazfit includes. Honestly, the Falcon is not that much different than the T-Rex 2
1. they added a sapphire glass screen
2. they changed the body
3. battery life increased a bit
And I think that is about it. Thank you for clicking on by and I hope you're able to sell your Apple Watch.
Watching your camping video now - nicely done and I love your accent! And yes, I subscribed. Best of luck with your Social Media Hobby and hope your camping adventure was fabulous :)
Hi nice video with pros and cons. Are you planning to do a review of GT RUNNER HUAWEI . Planning to get one. How is this compared to Trex2😊
Sorry, I haven’t reviewed that version of the Huawei, I could not tell you.
No problem
Thanks for being flexible. I am not only restraining by my finances, but more so my time. I enjoy spending solid week with each new gadget to fully test it thoroughly and not just skim through the 88 different features. For example over the past month I have taken on the following wearables:
1. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro (quasi pro smartwatch)
2. Apple Watch ULTRA - uber smartwatch
3. Fitbit Sense 2.0 (quasi smartwatch/advanced fitness tracker)
And yeah, back in August I took on:
4. OnePlus 10T smartphone
5. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 smartphone
I like giving you all reviews with great details and with a deep, profound perspective from my QA Engineer thoughts.
How do you compare this to galaxy watch 4 or 5. I need watch for sleep tracking
I would stay with the Galaxy Watch4 Classic with the rotating hardware bezel. They are virtually the same watch. Samsung only added a few tweaks from the Watch4 over to the Watch5. The only reason I upgraded was for my Social Media Reviews and the fact that Samsung gave me $280.00 to trade in my Galaxy Watch4 sometime during the Fall Weather of 2022. And yes, the Galaxy Watch4 Classic tracks naps, sleep, steps, gives a sleep score, give you feedback about your sleep, and so, so, so much more!
Good review style. Few people do a thorough pros cons like this.
I appreciate that and thank you for watching my detailed review. I enjoy wearing the watches and still strap on the T-Rex 2 now and again even though I have newer Amazfit watches...
Great video. I currently have the Garmin instinct. Thinking of updating. Would you recommend the trex2 over the Garmin watches?
Nope, I would not recommend the Amazfit T-Rex, T-Rex 2.0, not even the the Amazfit Falcon over any Garmin wearable. Garmin has more refined timepieces, better accuracy with health tracking, their apps are more soundly designed, and yeah, Garmin has making GPS products for the consumer for over two decades. Amazfit has some promise, that I will give them. Ask me this same question again during Q4-2025 and we shall see...
Thanks to your review I bought the watch and did a biking test and I like it. ONE PROBLEM: The watch is lacking a Geographic Location Coordinates View (latitude/longitude) which is the most critical and the most practical feature of any GPS device. It's good that the T-Rex 2 has pre-designed routes, but what will save your life in nature (mountaineering, hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, orienteering, etc) is to be able to see your geographic location whenever you need it, to find out where you are, and with that information refer to a “detailed paper map” which does not run out of batteries. The Amazfit T-Rex 2 does not have the storage capacity for detailed mapping... but having a small window with a geographic location option and working in conjunction with a paper map makes the digital storage unnecessary and greatly extends the usefulness of the watch GPS feature. I had an odd experience that I am not sure I imagine or was real: while dealing with a loaded hiking route I thought I saw a window that showed my geolocation, but when I was back home I could not make it happen again. ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED
That was a very detailed comment, wow, and glad you liked my review. As for the geographical features of the Amazfit T-Rex 2, nope, the features don't really exist. They were not added to the Falcon either. The GPS tracking feels accurate on the Falcon as well as the T-Rex 2, but navigation, sorry, you'll need to take a smartphone biking with you like I do.
I FIGURED OUT! When you go to an outdoor activity, say, hiking, First there is a red screen with GPS written on the left, a hiker pic on the center and a heart on the right, if you press the GPS it takes a measure and after a while when the measurement is taken all turns green. Then, there is a white text on the bottom of the screen that says "Setings", a new screen opens up with a list: “Assistant” and the second one is "Navigation", another screen opens with the Titles: My Routes, which will list the rotes you have saved, and the next is “MY LOCATION” where you can see the latitude and longitud of where you are ! That is the location we saved on the first red screen, is there and you can acumulate a list of them; but I am yet to figure out how to send it - find it in Zepp to pass it to some other app. What I did was to take a phone picture of the watch screen to not loose it and have it easily available to inform my map location.
I am retired, but I have been a mountaineering intructor and seach and rescue rescue type in North, Central and South America, and I have degrees in Geography and Geographic information Systems, Basically, spent all my life in the field dealing with practical issues.
I can tell you that the T-Rex GPS accuracy is fantastic. I am currently in the middle of nowhere in high mountains of Peru and my first reading located the neares city 110 miles away instead of where I am so I was very dissapointed. The reason was that I am next to a steep tall mountain right behind me. Once I moved a bit wawy from it I got my first correct and highly accurate reading; within a meter of the entrance of my property, that shows up in 3D in Google Earth so there is no mistake - the next day I went for a hike on the edge of the mountain and took another correct reading in spite of been somehow under the topographic shade of the mountain. It seems the software learned the satelllite location path.
Thus, Im done with the GPS figuring out, because now with the very acurate “My location” reading - and a topo map - I can navigate anywhere for months without charging the battery. I can turn the watch on and off just to find my location :-)
Thank you Adolfo! I commented on another one of your comments. Much appreciated your detailed feedback.
@@travelcompass591 have you tried garmin instinct 2?

Does the watch alerts when it disconnects from phone?
Sometimes it's called Disconnection Reminder.
You are welcome, thanks for watching, and for the comment. I'm checking now about the "Bluetooth disconnect" alert...
I checked on the watch and inside the app - nope, not found. However, I am now using the Amazfit Falcon. I don't see Amazfit including that "Bluetooth disconnection alert" on the T-Rex 2 and then removing it for the Falcon. One never knows... It is a nice feature and thanks for the question :)
@@PeterHerget So kind of you. You're the best.

C. 10 minutes

how to get/buy more watch faces for my t-rex2 ? it doesn't show up on my zepp app..thx
That is strange... what model of smartphone is connected to your Amazfit T-Rex 2?
Hi nice super pro video. Do you think the AOD can burn the screen?
I ended up sending this T-Rex 2 back to Amazfit for the heart-rate sensor hardware was faulty. I now rock the Amazfit Falcon and after weeks of testing, using, and enjoying AOD on their Falcon smartphone, nope, no burn in or screen issues since. And yes, the heart-rate statistics appear to be more accurate, consistent, and this wearable is a smidge faster and showing me heart rate.
Outstanding review.
Thank you kindly!
im getting about 6 days battery on mine. wich is about 3x what my galaxy watch 4 gave me. definitely some jankiness but i paid 170 bucks. the screen is beautiful.
I was able to get a solid nine days, but my battery life and yours will forever be different. Honestly, here is my required battery life:
Weekend Warrior
1. charge the battery Friday morning
2. wear the timepiece all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
3. gadget tracks my HR, sleep, SP02, naps, a good five hours of GPS, a plethora of notifications (200 to 500)
4. arrive back at a home with a wall plug and I don't have to charge the smartwatch for nearly four or five days - excellent battery life achieved!
Now, all of that being said. I was able to reach 34 days of battery life with the Garmin Fēnix 7X sapphire solar with averaging a good two or three hours of directly sunlight the last two weeks.
Update on the navigation maps? did they updated to show the maps?
Negative, and I was hoping, yet, my hopes were crushed. I recommend buying a Garmin Fenix.
Just posted a two-minute short video about maps & navigation for the Amazfit T-REX 3.0 or is it called the Amazfit Falcon?

@@PeterHerget Awesome 👌
You literally convinced me to buy this watch. These cons that you show are so meaningless to me and probably fixed by now. Thanks
Lovely! And yeah, many of the cons are not negative facts for all. I just wore my T-Rex 2 a few days ago... I hope you find your Amazfit Amazing 🤩
lol... I have had mine for a few days and didn't even know it had a speaker.
Thanks for the comment and glad I was able to teach you something about your Amazfit.
Good review I had the T Rex pro and find the heart rate when mountain biking was out by a good 30bpm higher now and then. But on the turbo trainer was spot on and maybe 1 or 3 beats out to chest HR. Why I sold it and got a Polar Grit X which has been great. But a bit boring in watch face design. Got to say am tempted by the T Rex 2 for that display if it could connect to chest HR I would be a buy it now.
Think I see more reviews to see what people think.
Cheers Jay for UK 👍
Thank you Jason and glad you are liking the Polar Grit X. And yes, it is missing some fun factors when it comes to watchfaces. The spikes in HR while cycling is exactly what I experienced with my T-Rex 2.
Could you make a video explaining the sensors issue once you get your replacement? Is it at normal resting HR, or only during activities, or only certain activities? Thank you.
Yes, I do have that plan to go riding on the exact same routes, using the same bicycle, my same heart, and again in the gorgeous areas of Utah. Thanks for you suggestion. You should see the video sometime in August 2022.
Hey thanks for the review.
It will be great if you review honor gs3 watch or mi watch revolve against polar or Garmin.
You are most welcome, and thanks for the comment. Yeah, that would be a good comparison. After buying the Insta360 ONE RS twin camera with the one-inch Leica lens, yep, I am short on cash. Perhaps, next month I should have more $$$ to buy another watch, sorry for the bad news. Honestly though, yes, I am interested the Honor and Mi wearables. Thank you for clicking on by...
By far, the best gadget review on YT
Thank you very much and plan to post another Amazfit video watch review very soon...
Great Review !! I personally love this watch! Agree with cons and pros!

@@PeterHerget looking forward to It 😃
More filming yesterday after work, but it was with the COROS Apex 2 PRO versus Garmin Fēnix 7X sapphire solar. Can you guess which watch has the better map & navigation, eh...?
@@PeterHerget as Far I have read, Apex 2 pro Is great! And cheaper than Garmin I think, so I would say the Coros Apex 2pro 😃
To be 100% honest, the COROS Apex 2 Pro is only a great watch if you're a running and don't want your naps tracked. It also needs the U.I. (user interface) redesigned or it could be that I've been using Garmin wearables for five years and I am desensitized to their U.I., eh?
I would like an EKG on it. Doesn't long press unlock the watch? As far as 1 time measuring being saved isn't it updated in the app, you just need to check each individual thing. One thing that would be cool if it could connect to Uber or the Lyft app.
Thanks for the comments👍
1. EKG on the wrist is more of a gimmick/toy app ~ and even on the Apple Watch 7, nope, that really that accurate. Though, it could let you know to get your human body into the hospital.
2. An connection to the Google Play Store would be... EPIC if Amazfit were to switch over to WearOS.

Glad you liked the video - thank you for watching. I created a playlist over a year ago and there are 19 videos about the reMarkable 2 e-ink tablet I've been using, and testing, for nearly two years: ua-cam.com/play/PL14X2qklpxc-wZkGvlHDIri-CCen6NOHu.html

yes, the app can be uninstalled
Needed a watch for notifications, time and date (noisy environment), wanted something rugged and not crazy expensive. Bought the Amazfit Trex Pro but returned it for 2 reasons, the vibration for notifications was very lite and hardly felt and the step counter drove me nuts. Not accurate ...ok then why can't I turn it off? No reset on the step counter, just went on counting forever, no reset at midnight and hard to find a watch face that did not display the inaccurate step numbers. Watch faces kind of childish too. I am considering the Pro 2 because they have a adjustment for the vibration intensity, thats interesting. I hate they slapped all that advertising on the watch. The Trex and Amazfit wording imprinted on the watch just make it look cheaper. Currently trying out the Samsung watch 4 Classic, nice but daily charging is killing it for me. Couple 3 days would be ok but as it stands if I forget to charge the Samsung one day, the next it dies. The Trex Pro 2 has same size battery as the Samsung watch 5 but less than half the cost.
I would wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday and see if she Galaxy Watch5 goes on sale. An I agree with you about the T-Rex 2 labels, it was not a good design choice. The step count for the Amazfit Falcon I have been wearing for nearly a month now appears to more accurate than the T-Rex 2.
@@PeterHerget The Samsung watch 5 pro is 399.00 this Black Friday. Still a little to much for me considering i'd probably break that watch. I ordered the Trex 2 at Target for 187.00 , pick up this morning and see how I like. No problem returning if I don't. If it has decent vibration I'll probably keep it at that price. Normally wear a big G-shock and I think I miss that on my arm. Samsung just seems a little prissy on me.
And honestly if Amazfit would take the hyphen out and call the watch Trex instead of T-Rex it would probably get more respect. Dinosaurs are for kids. I remember when a friend that owned a computer store bought hundreds of china monitors with the logo KFC on the front. I told him NOBODY will buy those because they say KFC on the front (Kentucky Fried Chicken). He ended up giving them away. Just saying ......

I have both T-Rex and T-Rex 2. Looks like the T-Rex 2 shows more steps than it should. When compared the difference between the two is 100 steps out of total 1500 steps. Any experience with this?
Thanks for watching, and for the comment. So, there is a difference of 1,400 steps after wearing both your T-Rex and T-Rex 2 for a solid 14-hour day?
Was one watch on your left wrist and the other on your right?
If one wearable was on the left and the other on the right, yeah, a 1,500 or even a 2,500 step different is normal; especially, if you're cooking in the kitchen or doing certain cleaning chores with your dominant hand...
@Peter Herget & Gadgets Anonymous it was juat a walking test. Yes, I was wearing both watches, one on the left hand and the other on the right one. It was a short walk just for the test.
Very strange data with such a short distance. If I were you I would do the test again after restarting both watches, keep them on the same wrists as before and double the distance or time and see what happens. And yes, I am curious to hear the end result.
@@PeterHerget I didn't restart the watches, but I did repeated the test with longer walking. Wearing both watches on different wrists. Results: T-Rex2-5925 steps; T-Rex-5815 steps.
An excellent test! From my perspective, close enough, eh🤔?
nice video. greetings from Indonesia
Thanks for visiting all the way from Indonesia :)
Easy to mount 22mm strap adapter, use quick release of you want to 😊
Good tip! The quick-release watch straps are my favorite to wear!
But how do I open the screws?
You will need a very small screw driver. I recommend ACE Hardware or Amazon.com.
@@Captainsting Did you visit ACE Hardware and what happened?
between t-rex pro vs t-rex 2, which is better? tks
I would say.... the T-Rex 2 for they added new features and fixed several bugs.
Great Smart Watch! But I broke the strap and customer support sucks! Can't get a replacement strap not to mention there's no tool to replace the strap! Upsetting and frustrating!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Bummer & sorry to hear that news. Did you call, chat or email Amazfit?
It's not that difficult to change the band. It's not easy either. Have you seen how thick are the 2 pins holding the band compared with the quick release ones from other brands? This is not a fashion statement watch. Quite the contrary. It's built to withstand the worst we could throw at it. So, in the end, i think that how the band is connected to the watch is actually ok. Thanks for the indepth review!
Thanks, Daniel, for the details about the watch strap and glad you liked my review. How long have you had your T-Rex 2?
Hey man, thanks for the detailed review, i have a question, is it worth spending extra for apple watch series 7, i know both watches are different and serve different purposes, i personally am not an athlete, i just go to the gym 4-5 times a week and walk a little daily, thats it.
Yes, definitely! The Amazfit is a good smartwatch; whereas, the Apple Watch 6, 7, or 8 is a great smartwatch. Sure, the cost is greater, but so are the health statistics. Now, if you are not wanting to charge your wearable every 27 hours you could also go with a Garmin Venu 2 Plus - 7 to 10 day battery life with fabulous health tracking. I feel any new Garmin or Apple is going to be years ahead of Amazfit. I plan to test another Amazfit later this year or in February 2023.
I have compared It with my forerunner 245 and the polar H10 chest strap. Is accurate when you go for a run or in the treadmill, also is good when it counts your reps at the Gym; but as many other watches, It is slow or doesn´t reach the peaks of the heart rate in trainning sessions.
Great review!
Thank you 🙏 for the comment and the feedback on your treadmill test. I plan to conduct a treadmill test with the Suunto 9 sometime in the next 47 hours 😀
People like you should actually test these watches before official release... Not sure how they execute field trials, but if this is not the way i am not sure what is...
Great job!
Thank you Milan! I've done beta testing/field testing for Fitbit, but Amazfit has yet to ask me. If they were to ask, yes, I would donate a few hours here at there "if" they allowed me to release videos after a certain date. And yes, thank you for the comment and clicking on by...
Should i take a g-shock with the same price?
What model of G-Shock? Actually, I was unimpressed with both the G-SHOCK Move series and their app. I would wait until 2023 to see if Casio makes a few major upgrades.
NO! I would keep your G-Shock. The T-Rex Pro, the T-Rex, and the newer T-Rex 2, they all l needed more refinement.
NO, wait until Christmas 2024 and see if CASIO can pull their heads out of the sand. As flawed as the ZEPP OS app (both Android & Apple) is at times, yeah, the CASIO G-Shock User Interface is 22% worse!
Hey I own the T Rex 2, great watch for workouts and casual outdoors. It auto detects my weight training workouts and provides me accurate information on recovery time and other parameters. The sensors are fairly accurate, however it doesn't pick up fluctuations in heart rates as quickly as I would have liked, GPS is good too and the product is overall value for money.
Also, long press on select button actually gives you an option to shut down or restart the watch, however it would be a reallyyy long press (easily 10+ seconds).
Thanks for the feedback about your T-Rex 2. I didn't get a chance to test weight training workouts more than a few times. And yes, I agree the GPS was great for the price. As for the hear rate, yeah, I experience the same issues. I will need to give the "back" button a test - thanks for the hint 👍
Mee too I have t rex 2 better than my Garmin 7x pro
The Garmin Fēnix 7X is one of the best smartwatches money can buy. Nope, no Alexa or Siri, but man oh man, can a Garmin Fēnix track workouts!
How many faces does it have? Can you customise more?
@@stathkon Yes, you can add dozens and dozens more and many can be customized.
Great Review, love the details and the analysis for several days. I think that Amazfit is cleaning every year the Trex line. It’s a bit disappointing that the heart rate is inconsistent, I believe that if the heart rate is not reliable all the other metrics will mean nothing.
Thanks for your pithy comments. My hope is that my heart-rate irregularities were only connected to some bad hardware and it was just that one watch. As I have commented before, yep, I have another T-Rex 2 on the way. I do agree with you about the Amazfit T-Rex line of wearables. One important aspect of any watch on my wrist is not only the accuracy, but also the fun factor. If I don't enjoy wearing the watch, interacting with the app, nope, it is sold, shelved, or returned. I have had issues enjoying the Suunto 9 on my wrist over the past eight days for that same reason. The Suunto 9 Gen1 has not been much fun at all, the font is too small to read, and screen is often, too often, difficult to read indoors.
i compared with medical heart rate and the result was 2 beat max different and sometime the result is the same.
That is good to know. Perhaps, my T-Rex 2 watch was just a one off. Eight months later, how is your T-Rex 2 timepiece behaving - still good with heart rate, sleep tracking, and GPS workouts?
@@jameslagr78 Thank you for your time and testing with a medical heart rate gadget.

Does the watch show a little dot when you have received a new notification? T-rex showed a little dot to the left, but not the T-rex Pro. Samsung and Apple also have that feature.
That is... a fabulous question, and I don't recall. I had to ship mine back to Amazfit H.Q. due to the sensor issues discussed in that video. I am scheduled to receive a replacement T-Rex 2 any day. When the dinosaur 2 wearable arrives, yes, I will check for that "red dot" notification for you.
@@PeterHerget Thank you good sir. 👍
You are... MOST welcome.
Let's talk about some of your cons. The battery life estimate is in some watch faces. It isn't native, but there is a workaround. For the heart rate and pulse ox, you really annoyed me with this (as do most reviewers). Let's get something clear. These watches, regardless of brand, are not medical devices. They are guides at best. There is a reason they don't use wrist based measurements in the hospital. On the ambulance we use either finger tip or ear lobe for pulse ox. But regardless, one thing you learn in school is to 'treat the patient, not the machine'. Your sats will change throughout the day as will your HR and BP and respiratory rate. Movement can also affect it as can your skin. If you want the most accurate readings from a sport watch, you need to shave your arm where the watch will go. Your hair will throw it off as will it not being tight enough. Really wish reviewers would learn this and educate themselves before using as a comparison or calling it a "con".
Okay and thanks for your perspective. I will do further research...
Hello, light intensity of always on display change with light sensor or is it fixed? Thanks 🙏
Dear Marco, sorry, I don't know if I fully understand your comment. Are you asking if the light sensor brightens the screen up correctly when changing from dark to light (outside/inside) environments? If that was your question, yes, the auto-brightness functioned nicely.
Yes, and no... the ambient light sensor functions most of the time and that is better than my Garmin EPIX 2, an $800.00 timepiece that shipped sans light sensor.
Everyone says Garmin watches aren't very accurate in regards to HR measurements.
Garmin isn't very accurate with health metrics like heart rate? Sorry, who is saying this and what is their proof? I have found the complete opposite and have found Garmin to be on the same accuracy level as Apple, Samsung, and others after months, no, YEARS, of testing.
@@PeterHerget I've heard of t from reviewers on UA-cam, and guy with a channel called Dark Horse Rowing made that claim in one of his videos. And I've read the reviews on Amazon. On Amazon they're not 100% negative, but they have a higher rate of one star reviews then I feel comfortable with, if I was going to buy that brand of smartwatch.
Interesting, I have not heard of that person. At the end of the day the watch is just a watch and if it somewhat accurate, yeah, that is good enough for me 🤔😁😉
Thank you for the comments and I will see what else I can discover about hear rate accuracy. During my row machine workout tonight I still wore my Polar H10 chest strap for I trust that HR gadget the most 😀

I think it would be perfect if you could add external sensors. Then it would be a must buy!
Yep, external sensors would be rad! Perhaps, in 2023 🤔
What you need to know!!
So far still no navigation update, I suspect it will not come for the time being. and then the question is whether it has been worked out properly. my advice is, buy a Garmin. I bought this watch just for the navigation function. this smells like a sales pitch, big disappointment.
Oh no! Yesterday was the BIG date for Amazfit, July 25th, 2022, the day over 5,000 Users were waiting for the T-Rex 2 to receive the O.T.A. software update. (O.T.A. stands for over the air via Internet robots talking from the Amazfit Headquarters through your Internet Service Provide, into the ZEPP app, through Bluetooth, and then inside the T-Rex 2 wearable). That was tough news to read @marhvd. Just for fun, in what country do you live? Perhaps, Amazfit is conducting a step rollout in which they are going county by country to avoid issues...?
@@PeterHerget I live in the Netherlands. As promised we should also get an update.
@@PeterHerget you have already the update with navigation?
Nope, I don't have a T-Rex 2 to check, mine is scheduled to arrive later this week.
The navigation and maps finally did arrive and they are pretty rad for a $200 timepiece. The T-Rex 2 has not disappointed me except with the following
1. lack of Airplane Mode
2. lack of volume controls
3. lack of Spotify
4. lack of full-button navigation
5. lack of ZEPP OS 3.4
What all functionalities do we lose when the phone is not connected to the watch ? How much data can it save ?
The watch still saves nearly all of the data. The Amazfit did a great job maintaining data and I did not witness any data loss even when it was away from the connected smartphone for hours.
@@PeterHergetHow about days..?
@@S.... How many days do you need to go hiking in Switzerland? I would guess a sold four to five days without testing it myself. The longest I have survived without the Internet since 1993 is about four to five days.
@@PeterHerget I was just wondering about the very need itself to have it connected to my phone. I feel a bit uncomfortable about sharing my personal data with some Chinese servers - just the watch doing it is fine, but while it is connected to my phone it might share too much or even if it is just connecting that data to "me".

Hello to everyone. Today 25.01.2023 I get my new t rex 2 :) It's really marvelous watch for me :) I can do everything that I want. And whenever I started the watch after pairing It got the new firmware update which is 9.35.1.1 There are many stabilization updates with this new firmware. I can say so far so good. Now I am thinking, what will I get more If I would buy Garmin? For me nothing I believe. Most probably much more professional sportsman/sportswoman can comment better than me If they used Garmin before, but this t-rex 2 with military grade really satisfied me much :)
And what do you think? Are there many things to be fixed with the new following updates? @peter
Upgrading to the Amazfit Falcon is NOT a good idea. Their health monitoring data is just more for fun and not nearly as accurate as other wearables in 2023. The $500.00 price tag was way too way. The watch should be sold for around $350.00. Now, those honest thoughts are my own and not that of my employer or anyone else. My perspective is soley based upon the 80 different wearables tested since 2013. Once I reach 188 wearables tested, yes, then I will feel more like an expert about wearable health technology. Oh yeah, I really, really, really like the Garmin Venu 2 Plus, one of my favorite wearables from 2022. I found wearing it, sleeping, workout out, and just using as a timepiece was just awesome! Is it a perfect smartwatch - not hardly! Alas, there does not exist the perfect smartwatch as of 02/29/2023.
Thank you for your honest opinions and reviews ✌️
Many thanks. More honest opinions and reviews coming later today or tomorrow.
I like this gadget a lot, my only complain concerns the clock faces. As an older person with the poor near vision it's difficult to read faces without lenses. I hope there would be more simple faces with the bigger fonts for us elders :) Other issue is with the Zepp health app, or actually with the bluetooth it's using. It consume phone battery a really lot.
There are many "clock" faces with larger font, and I have found great joy with the larger numbers too. I wear reading glasses more and more frequently each year I age. And yes, I am wearing them right now as I type to see the font. There does not appear to be any accessibility settings for any of the Amazfit devices and I am shocked that in 2023 Amazift, Garmin, Polar, and others, have forgotten and ignored many human needs. Larger font, louder beeps/sounds, stronger vibration, and simply put, "more options" for those that may be slightly outside the normal. Then again, what is normal? If you are looking for larger font, yeah, I would go with Amazfit Falcon, I felt the screen was just slightly larger, text was crisper, it comes with a sapphire screen, and it looks better too. I hope this helps. Thank you for clicking on by and for the comment.

Yes, that is a problem. I was on my long board cruising around the streets last night and my daughter called me. When she calls, I answer A.S.A.P. I easily lifted my left wrist and clicked one button and talked to her via my Apple Watch Ultra. I returned the Amazfit T-Rex 2 for the heart-rate sensor was wacky and the U.I. (user interface) was a little too wonky for my tastes.
