Social psychology is a specific field of psychology that defines how we are influenced, how we think as individuals, and how we behave in our environment.
Interesting topic. sounds like it's basically the study of how we act around people.

Would you recommend studying social psychology as a complementary field to political science/international relations ? I'm thinking it could provide some use to understanding elections, decision-making at the state level and interactions within a political party.
Totally--there's a field of Political Psychology that lives at the intersection of political science and social psychology. Lots of that research is on election outcomes, public opinion, etc.
I see Social psychology provides answer of how but not why's answer i seek to know why? For example why people stereotypes other and why people fear what others think
Hi Andy, I’m interested in pursuing a career in social psychology and I don’t want this to sound nosy but I was wondering what your starting salary was and what your salary is today.
Personality psychology is interested in how an individual remains consistent across many situations. Social psychology is interested in how behavior can change from situation to situation. (This is quite a simplification, but it highlights the emphasis of each. In practice, though, they overlap a lot. Personality psychologists can be interested in powerful situations and social psychologists can be interested in individual differences.)
+Andy Luttrell (Be a People Expert) I'm from the Philippines and I am considering studying abroad. I would look into your uni. how many years did you take it up? 😊
alright thank you! I will be reading and researching more about the discipline. Been really thinking about taking up Social Psych because I think its a good addition to my practice as a speech pathologist. We only ran through these topics before majors and I see A LOT of social psych theories in action during sessions. Really fascinating.
I dont think that everything is totally shaped the way we think! If you think about philosophy, you can also think independently how you view the world as a living being and your role!
I don't know enough about "environmental psychology" to really comment. My impression is that it's an area of psychology to draws on various other areas (social, cognitive, neuroscience) in order to learn more about how people interact with nature.
Hello Andy, i need expert opinion on social behavior for my study. Do u have someone to recommend who can be willing to answer queries on this aspect? i appreciate any info on this. thanks
Hi everyone , for those who did a Masters in social psychology. What school did you go to ? I am interested in doing this for my masters but having a hard time finding a school here in Florida that offers it as a online program.
Many high schools have a general Psychology class, which would be a great start--it's how I got started! Otherwise, most social science classes (e.g., economics, general social studies) would be useful to raise questions about social psychology even if it's not psychology per se. If your school has a Statistics class, that would also be a great early introduction to the research methods behind social psychology.
Okay. Your glasses aren't straight. I don't necessarily care, but your videos will probably get more Likes if you play the "normal" routine. It's a Marketing thing.

hi andy, can you tell a very clear and brief distinction between social psychology and personality psychology?
Personality psychology is interested in how an individual remains consistent across many situations. Social psychology is interested in how behavior can change from situation to situation.
(This is quite a simplification, but it highlights the emphasis of each. In practice, though, they overlap a lot. Personality psychologists can be interested in powerful situations and social psychologists can be interested in individual differences.)
Thank You, good insight.
Could you gimme a example about social psychology?
Hi Andy! Where did you study Social Psychology? I've been really interested in the field for quite a while now.
Hi, Nikki. I got my PhD in social psych at Ohio State University. There are many programs with great research mentors all over the place, though.
+Andy Luttrell (Be a People Expert) I'm from the Philippines and I am considering studying abroad. I would look into your uni. how many years did you take it up? 😊
I was there for 6 years, which is pretty typical (2 years for the Master's degree, and 4 more years for the PhD)

I don't know enough about "environmental psychology" to really comment. My impression is that it's an area of psychology to draws on various other areas (social, cognitive, neuroscience) in order to learn more about how people interact with nature.

is it possible to take a master and PHD in social psychology after medical school?
I don't see why not, but it's worth realizing that a PhD often takes 5-6 years, which is quite a bit if you've already gone through med school!
Isn't Kurt Lewin the father of modern social psychology??
