Great video! I live in Perth and surf there regularly. Mainly snorkel at North Cott dog beach. Lots of wobbiegons and octopus’. I’d love to see a video on that reef!👍
Cheers Jack, this used to be my local beach too, when I lived in the Hills. I live back in the UK now and realistically I can't ever see me coming back to Aussie because of what the world's turning into! i.e a prison.
+Ryan Skamp Nice one, love the cove. Check out ‘Cottesloe reef’ another vid on my channel - it shows an amazing huge school of tailor (hundreds of them) taken this last January.
Top spot Cott reef, I prefer it to the main beach, altho I haven't had the opportunity to visit either in the last 4 years or so since my return to the UK to live.
Been to Perth many many times (l live on the East Coast) got family there also and until your stunning video which l just watched,l had never heard of this place. Thanks ,now l have a reason to head on over before the winter months arrive.
Thanks for comment Wayne. I'd say this spot is one of the best beaches to snorkel in Perth. I used to live in WA and I swam there from early Oct thru to late April. On a calm day it's amazing, but leave it until the arvo and it's too late with wind chopping up the visibility.
Indian Ocean is still pristine in much of WA... and the temp's pretty warm too. I don't have this clear water and warm temps here in the UK either... that's why I travel back to WA pretty regularly. Thanks for comment.
+Andy Ballard that sounds perfect! Actually, did you go to New Zealand too? You'd probably love the waters there in summer. Ahh the UK, it looks so cold there.
Yes, been to NZ some years back, the water's pretty cold there even in summer. Yep... we're in english summer time right now (apparently) and the sky is grey and threatening rain.
I've been looking forward to this for a month! and I wasn't disappointed 😊 The fish were amazing so many. I have to say the sea lions were my favourite especially the one that waved as you walked off into the sea. I know you all had a great time. Must be hard coming back to this weather! ! Hope you have more film 😊Take care x
Thanks as always for your kind comments Mandy, yep, fish were jumping from out of everywhere I looked, practically tripping over ‘em ! The Sea lion came back day after day, he was getting to be a big attraction, although he had enormous menacing teeth when he opened his gob. Yeah, grey skies and dark is not easy to deal with at the moment. Got heaps more footage, esp. around Shark bay... and sharks !!!
Nice one, I attached the GoPro to a ‘croc clip’ (the type that you get on battery chargers) then anchored this to a piece of the reef - it makes the camera perfectly stable.
I'm usually thinking about heading down to WA at this time of year, but sadly not this one. No I haven't, haven't heard of that wreck, I know Coogee too.
@@MrAndyballard what a shame. beaut weather here at the moment. we did omeo wreck a few weeks ago. heres my vid ua-cam.com/video/ZZNcI_MmtDY/v-deo.html love for you to check it out :)
I've never seen a turtle there... but there's everything else as you can see: I've seen dolphins before, eagle rays, even a beheaded tiger shark bobbing around next to Cott groyne!
Thanks for replying! I could see turtles when I was snorkeling in Palau 1yr ago! Planing a trip to aus for 1 month and snorkeling in aus looks beautiful
@@justlush7178 Yeah, well Palau's in the tropics so you would see turtles, but Perth isn't. There's still some great spots to snorkel in WA, esp if you get up to Ningaloo.

This is my main surf break and man it was cool to see what lives there, great video man

Used to surf there,Dutch inn & deep six about 40 ago....wish I'd taken the time to stick a mask & fins on now😐😄
Great view! Cheers 🤙✌️

Really well made video thanks
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Lara said wow a seal! One day we will visit. ☀️
A sea lion I believe... this is the scene/reef of the encounter with the Great White Shark (seals and sharks ain't great buddies)
Excellent
This video is amazing great job you two ❤️
Thanks for watching, there are a couple more underwater vids from the same place on my channel if you're interested.
Great vid and vis!
Thanks.. when ya get it just right down there, it's perfect, I've seen it crystal clear at times.
Great video, just a quick question is that a hand line on your wrist?
I think it was yes... can't quite remember, but i think I tried hand lining for tarwhine as an experiment?! I got one too
Very pretty waters! Unfortunately we don't have those type of beaches here in Melbourne. Unless you travel out abit

Great video Andy! :)
Much appreciated Perry, only wish I was there now rather than shivering through the English winter !
Can't say it's been amazing snorkelling conditions lately to be honest! Sea breeze is in earlier than I ever remember but it is hot!
Awesome video. keep it up.
Thanks Gabriel, it looks as if you have an interest in Minnows !

Great vid. what did you use to hold your camera still under the water?

Which part of Cottesloe Beach did you snorkel?
phoo phookaren Like the sign says... The Cove. It's south of the main Cott beach (the other side of the groin from the Indiana tea house).
great vid. love snorkling at cottesloe, have you tried omeo wreck at coogee. def recommend. :)

i got eaten by a great white here, lucky he has wifi
I had an encounter with a big shark here too, thankfully he'd eaten previously, WA has become very ‘sharky’ these days
horrible music
All subjective isn't it?
