The first two seasons, particularly season one, were magic in a bottle. Once we get into Season 3 and immediately after Olivia’s relapse the show falls off a cliff narratively
This! I rewatch S1 all the time but I cannot rewatch the rest of it but I did finish the series. Same with Arrow and Flash; first seasons were phenomenal.
@@trafficcontrol2420 Yeah, Arrow had some clunker seasons, but after season 2, season 5 to 8 was pretty good. Especially the season with the prison escape.
I mean the problem with All American is it was a teen drama on the CW. 😂😂 That being said, a show where the black characters were centralized on the CW and it lasting six seasons, I’ll take that for the win. 😂😂
that’s not even fair. they all got to say i love you when Billy died but Spencer was the only one who didn’t leave off on a good note with him because he declined his call and it was eating him up inside because of everything Billy did for him. that’s my perspective.
I agree 100% with your take on Spencer. The acting is great but the characters “Savior” complex makes it hard to watch. But with one of the few teen tv shows with a black cast, I am grateful the show has lasted as long as it has. Even with the poor writing.
Even though Spencer plays captain save a ho the first seasons were still great. The downfall happened in season 4 when he sacrificed his graduation for some underclassmen that he didn't even kno. That's when I said to myself this show needs to end. I been holding on because I really loved this show but its a shell of its former self now. I'm standing on business this time when I say this is the last season I will be tuned in.
Na the downfall started in season 2, when the show stopped focusing on the main premise of the difference between beverly and crenshaw and started making their whole run time about relationship drama
I think one of the main reasons why this show has lost its touch is because it became repetitive..and this is for all the shows characters. A problem comes up, they apologize and later on they make another mistake and so on and so forth… when you think a characters arch is done the writers come up with a dumb plot to keep a character on the show
To summarize the show: Season 1- your typical slow introduction Season 2- Spence finally forgiving his father Season 3- Dysfunctional and messy Season 4- Spence and Liv Season 5- Skip all together Season 6- Send off
I started rewatching today; The first few seasons are so good especially the first season 💯💯💯 I completely disagree that Spencer is a bad protagonist; they just make him make the same mistakes sometimes.... He's the best "teen" actor on the show 💯💯💯
I didn't understand why they didn't end it when homecoming started!then intertwining the two shows together so people would keep watching all american, made me check out
It turned into every other CW tv show. They shouldn’t exist past 3 seasons. The CW writers just don’t know what to do after season 3. They’ve never been capable of creating good content after 3 seasons cause they don’t know how to create more conflicts
I've watched it since the beginning, this is definitely the last season. The ratings were not good last Monday tied for the worst since it started. They ran out of good content
@shaysworld6249 I'm still going to watch, I have the CW app and catch it on Tuesday . I didn't even think about places that make you pay like cable or Hulu. It's my guilty pleasure for my ancient self lol !!
Spencer is literally one of my favorite characters ever for the reason why you don’t like him. He’s literally the perfect friend, student, football player, son, older brother, community leader and they give him great inspirational lines. Your right, this show isn’t as good as it started, but Spencer is someone I would definitely be cool with if he lived in my neighborhood
Spencer is a drama king and narcissistic and everyone made the same stupid decisions over and over. And then having him win a championship right after being drafted was wild too but the actors made me keep watching the show. Expect coops GF and Asher.
They pinned themselves in a corner by centering so much of the show around the kids/players. There's only so much you can with this many characters before things become redundant
Spencer when no one needs his help: "I'm pulling up to shut sh*t down" Spencer when everyone needs his help: "my football dreams are falling apart I can't deal with this"
I watched all 5 seasons, and I loved all of them. I am really excited that they are coming out with a season six. I just don't want to see Coop and Patience together as a couple again. Patience was a horrible girlfriend, and Coop really need to do better.

The show should have ended in Season 3. It didn't need 3 more seasons and it got boring, everyone got tired of Spencer the Saviour. The show just got repetitive and lame tbh. The characters didn't "grow" with the show (if you know what i mean) they remained stagnant. The plot just got dumb.
The reason I could never truly get into this is because it just felt like a worse version of "the game" but instead of being pro athletes they're in highschool/college
Season 7 coming top of 2025! And I will be tuned in 😋 I still enjoy the characters and the show even if they are frustrating. I hear a big shakeup is coming but I'm open to supporting the evolution. I will be there until the last episode airs.
I liked the show when it was high school drama which people usually don’t like. For me the drama wasn’t that realistic but I could see it happening and it was also interesting drama like Olivia’s addiction or Jordan and Simone becoming parents or Laylas depression. I think when they moved away from high school they lost the power of the drama. When it was harsh realities like addiction depression or the fact Billy loved Spencer more than Jordan, it was so much better. Although I hate coop, she was a good bridge in the first 2 seasons but after she was shot she lost all purpose and added nothing to the story. I think Layla should’ve moved away after season 3 and maybe rejoined the show in season 5 because her and Jordan are a good couple. Hopefully they are the mains in season 7 because they have good chemistry on and off the show
I watched every episode since the first season with so much excitement for the next. This season I didn’t even subscribe to Stan (Australia) it’s the only place I could watch AA. I watched the first two episodes today and as we speak trying to get a refund on my subscription because it is not worth the $13 a month. What happened? I’m not excited to watch anymore. I think the time jump is the problem. We missed the anticipation of wondering if Patience would make it etc and the whole Spelivia long distance trials and tribulations
You definitely need to do an update video on this show, because they're more reasons why this show went downhill. Especially in the most recent seasons. Also I cried like a baby when Billy got removed.
Season 1 and 2 was the main show, anything other than that was just complete shite. Your description of the characters are totally true and facts. I just got into 4 episodes in season 4 then i gave up, I just couldn't endure it any longer
For me it was the fact that Spencer couldn’t pick a side. He would be like he would leave Crenshaw, then come back to his hood.THEN he would leave. THEN, he would come back likeeeee😭 He was also aggressive sometimes when it was uncalled for 🤦🏽♀️😭

First 2 seasons are solid, it got annoying when they were forcing crazy drama, having the same dumb mistakes happen, the show getting super unrealistic, and forcing current social justice events. I agree with the savior complex getting annoying. All the things that happened around 2020 made its way into the show and they was just preaching with these social justice type issues but not in a good/effective way. I know it was stated otherwise but for me as the show went on it felt like the main aspect of football was being lost too.

lol, funny cause that’s how Spencer’s story ended in season 6. He got into the NFL and then won the Super Bowl in his rookie season. What a downfall for a good show. 😢
They fell off badly after the 4th season. It got so bad i couldn't even finish it so i just wasted 5 seasons for nothing. But they went wait to pc. There was no more villians and it seemed forced like they try to make every scene seem wholesome as possible
Yeah no this show lost me halfway through season 3, it just was the same thing over and over and I found myself falling asleep and not caring abt it anymore. I think what really made me bored was patience and coops storyline, I didn't like either of their music and I thought it was Js corny.
The reason why it fell off because it’s very liberal and it pushed social justice bs around late in the third season and that’s what became the downward spiral of the show. That’s my honest opinion on what had happen.
I stopped around s3, I go back and watch it sometimes but, I didn't like how political it was becoming. The reason I loved Friday night lights was bc it didn't focus too much on real life issues. It focused a lot on the love lives and the important part football. All American does too much
