Yeah, that's the scientific name. And the common or street name is Rambutan. It's origin is Malay (national language of Malaysia), comes from rambut, meaning hair in Malay. Rambutan literally means hairy fruit - owing to the hairy skin.
the sausage like thing at 10:30 is actually food made with mostly gluten, people like their chewy texture but it's deadly for people that's allergic to it.
at minute 7:16 that red hair fruit is not Lychee but Rambutan (or Chom Chom in Vietnamese). Lychee is way dearer than Rambutan. Great vid. thanks for sharing

Respect for trying things, I am a regular in Nanning and have a place there… I am useless at Chinese but my wife and kids speak fluently so they just do everything for me. There are plenty of food streets in Nanning and you can eat something different every day of your life. I live in Cardiff but will live in Nanning once my kids grow up and finish school.

So if you order one item for example, you can say "yi ge", "ge" here is the general numerical unit (obviously there are many others). Can you say "how much"? That's "Duo-Shao-Qian". Duoshao is how much, Qian (pronounced cheeian) is money.
Cha in Chagee is Chinese for Tea, or you mustve heard Chai on your travels is it India or Thai? same Tea... That's actually not Lychee at all. What you tried was Rambutan, which is a southeast Asian tropical fruit. Lychee was actually brown skinned and without those hairy stick outs. They do taste similar in flavor though.

That looks like a rambutan not a lychee which is smaller. Fresh lychee is amazingly tasty. Fresh Rambutan is good too.

That's actually not Lychee at all. What you tried was Rambutan, which is a southeast Asian tropical fruit. Lychee was actually brown skinned and without those hairy stick outs. They do taste similar in flavor though.

That's a rambutan, my friend. Lychees are not furry. Two completely different fruits. Imo, lychees are tastier/juicier than rambutans.
