I just visited the nation's capital via AMTRAK and I remembered this tutorial and figured on using it for the trek from my state to Virginia when I edit the video. Thanks for this, Maliek!
It will be great. I love DC. I have to go back some day.
Been trying to make this animation for a couple vacation videos from the last couple years but couldn't quite figure it out. This is PERFECT!
Glad I could help you get it done.
I love this! Totally professional with tons of great info that can be applied to a wide variety of special effects editing. Many thanks, Maliek!

Is this a distraction from my actual editing duties? - Yes
Is this type of effect needed or even relevent to a sewing channel? - No
Am I going to do it anyway? - Yes. Yes I am
Another great video with easy to follow instructions - Thank you :)
LOL! Maybe you can use it on your next trip to a sewing convention as well. 🤷🏾♂️
@@PDU_Tutorials oh I'm already on it 😜

Way cool. The first video I did, I created a map, but nowhere as cool as this. Lots of other great tips too. Wave as you fly over Philly.

As usual, a great video. Thanks. I am in Austin BTW
Billy Malady Thanks. Austin is cool 😎
Amazing
Thanks
Nice tutorial...would be cool with the analog blend filter and maybe playing with the saturation, but I can see your just giving ideas👌
Good call! That would be great. There all all kinds of stuff you can add but like you said, I'm just giving ideas and I can't go over every option you could ever add. That would be the longest tutorial of all time. 😃
thank you
You’re welcome.
G'day mate, Love your tutorials and especially this one, Im currently learning how to do nicer video editing and especially for the travel side of things so this was near perfect. I have noticed on some vid ive seen that they also have say a car or bike opr some type of image, is this possible to do in PD19? and if so would love to see or find out how.
Once again enjoy your vides and have a great start to the new year
Yes it can be done
Great video. I'm preparing for an upcoming 180-day cruise around the world with approx. 90 ports of call. Created map with route and attempted making a mask with net.paint. Created a animation but when put all 3 together it does not produce the route. I'm using power director 365, could there be a difference in steps to produce the clip. Do you maybe have a similar tutorial for a cruise moving map. Again Great videos concerning power director, and photo director. Thanks for your Time. Mike.H.
Hi Mike. This was done using PowerDirector 365 when PD 18 came with it. There should not be any difference in the steps. I don't have a similar tutorial for this but I'm sure there are others on UA-cam that are probably done different than mine. Maybe one of those will work for you.
Great, I have been wondering how to do something like this. Would I be right in assuming that if the route doubles back in the other direction, it would just be a matter of introducing a second mask and using the first mask as the second image?
Western Australia Now and Then That’s correct. Glad you liked this one.
Very Nice...
Thank you.
Just shows to me that PD is missing some very handy drawing tools for vector type lines and shapes. I’ve wanted to use those many time and have to create them somewhere else and import them. - which has it’s drawback as when scaling, the lines change size (of course).
That said, this is a very clever workaround. Thanks for posting it!
You’re welcome.
Love this but had a little trouble creating the mask with photoshop. Here's my solution to that part of the project. Save the 1st map. Then make a new transparent layer and move the map layer above it. Then use the path tool to make the path. Set your erase tool to whatever size you want the 'reveal' to be, then stroke the path (right click on it) with 'erase'. Save the result as a png file (you may need to do this as 'save a copy'. After that it all works as per Maliek does it.
Thanks for sharing! There's more than one way to skin a cat. 😀
I have tried this, but I am PS novice and can't get it to work. I saved the map with red destination dots as JPG image. I re-opened it selected Layer, new layer. I placed the map image above it in the layers panel. I used the Pen tool to create a curved line with No Fill and 15 pixel stroke on the map layer. The result is a red line I can only see when transparent layer is selected by itself. What am I doing wrong? Question 2. If I get this done, save it as a PNG. how does power director see anything but the single image?
You have the map as your background layer but unlock it by double clicking.
Add a new layer above. Use the brush tool.
Grab the selection tool and click on the path you created.
Save the selection of you like in case you need it again. Press delete and it will create the transparent path. Save as a png.
Then follow the steps from that point non.
Nice sir🙏🙏
Thank you.
Imagine what you could have done with the airplane masking if you had done this tut in 19 rather than 18. Especially with the latest "point" masking tool.
🤔🤔🤔
Which is the best streaming software that you are using? It is awesome..Pl inform
I use VMix for streaming
Awesome video love your style... this is what I'm looking for just starting a small channel will have to try adding these types of maps to my video... thank you
You’re welcome. Good luck on your channel.
Thanks for that. Can't wait to do my own. I didn't catch how drawing lines on a photo then deleting them created a mask though. If I draw lines in Publisher or Photoshop and then delete them, it just...well, deletes them!
Not sure how to do it in those programs. If you use getpaint.net and follow my steps it will work
This is mint Maliek, I take it this works with older versions of PD too?
Yes it does.
hey, u have literally replied to all of the comments, ALL OF EM, first time seen this.
And yeah great tutorial, Btw how do u edit videos of video editing tutorials XD
I have no idea 😀
Quick question. Why are the all of the mobile tutorials deleted from the channel?
Marwan does vids Moved to my new channel which I announced a few weeks ago. Search for PDU Mobile.
Is it possible to add a small image of a car or a plane as they move on the image along the line?
If so I would love for you to make a video about it.
Thanks
Just place the image of the car or plane on a new timeline track and use keyframes to make it move on the path. Please use the tutorial request form in the video description if you,’d like to request a tutorial
Awesome... I've been wanting to do something like this. Do you have a tutorial on how to do a futuristic hologram coming out of a cellphone?
Thanks. No I don’t have a hologram video
But it's pretty simple. Use a screen recorder and record what you want. Add it as an overlay and reduce opacity. BOOM! You have a hologram! You just need to position it over your cell phone

Really liked this one! So you actually live in SA? I'm just south of SA in Brownsville.
Yes I do. Never been to Brownsville but I hear it’s nice.
I hope Cyberlink is paying you thousands of dollars for your videos because they are 100X better than their own. They do everything wrong, you do everything right. We can follow your instructions, there is no background music and you say what you do. I cannot stand videos that have a mouse flitting around like a mosquito in the air, with a crappy generated soundtrack that I have to immediately silence or die. I like your use of the arrow to point to where you are talking. I've seen 1/2 dozen of your videos and learned something NEW every time! You da man! I've subscribed long time ago.
I am going to do one with some variation to it. Add in the location icon and city name. Could you do the next video where the cursor has stopped a particular location - with a morph 3s vid clip from location to location. that will be so good - something like Lawrence of Arabia!
You can add your request using the tutorial request in the video description. Thank you.
I have Paint.Net for making title transparencies. I'm surprised though, to see you back-pedalling to PD18 Ultimate after your last few videos featuring PD19 Ultimate. That said, there may be an idea for me in there somewhere, and, as I use PD14 Ultra, I can still do this in that software.
Not back pedaling. I make videos weeks to months ahead. I have more PD 18 tutorials scheduled for the coming weeks. I’m currently using PD 19 and making PD 19 tutorials. Once all the PD 18 videos are released my PD 19 videos will be released.
@Neil forbes thats an unfare comment
Any way to do it frame by frame animation ???? Good video
You could if you wanted to. It would just take a lot longer. Thanks for watching.

can we do on android and iphone. this is a big challenge.
Mobile doesn’t have the Paint Designer so if it can be done it would have to be done in a different way. I don’t upload mobile videos to this channel anymore. Subscribe to my mobile channel so you don’t miss my mobile tutorials. ua-cam.com/channels/VjUF5YBRMjGt77DhnzW_Mw.html
Can this be done on Android app
My Android tutorials are on UA-cam.com/pdumobile The Android app doesn’t have the paint designer so you can’t do it like this using the app. If you want to make a tutorial request please go to UA-cam.com/pdumobile and use the tutorial request form in the video description of one of the videos on that channel.
@@PDU_Tutorials hey thanks, I figured it out and it's rather quicker 😉 ty. Love you vids ✌️. I edit game footage of live streams.

How do I fix lag on powerdirector mobile
ThomasMarioFan 11 You can’t modify settings to deal with lag on mobile. Use smaller files and less effects.
This is a PC tutorial. If you want help with mobile please comment on a mobile video on my other channel PDU Mobile. ua-cam.com/channels/VjUF5YBRMjGt77DhnzW_Mw.html

Ver nice, thanks very much. Could you also please make a video on how to create that SUBSCRIBE button with the bell and stuff in PowerDirector? I don't know how to do it?!?!
BenalRida I made those using After Effects. Once they are made I just import the video file into PowerDirector when I edit my videos.
@@PDU_Tutorials Okay, that's too bad. I don't have that. I thought maybe you can do this with PD as well?!?
BenalRida You can but you need to already have the subscribe button , cursor, etc. as .png images and you use the PIP designer to make them move.

Yaaaaassss!!!
Sexy! How about non straight lines? Like showing a road trip or a loop or a hiking trail that has twists n turns n switchbacks?
Tom Spane It works the same way. Just use the appropriate line tool in getpaint.net when you create the overlay image.

Why a rollback to v18?
Neel Narlawar I did not roll back. I make tutorials weeks or months in advance and I upload them to UA-cam with scheduled future dates. There are still more PD 18 tutorials that are scheduled in UA-cam to be released over the next few weeks. I am uploading PD 19 videos and they are scheduled with released dates after the PD 18 videos. This way I always have videos scheduled to be released. #efficiency

Yep
Pretty sad they released PD19 and it aint ready yet.

It is ready. Why you saying it ain't ready?
@@neelnarlawar Yes it's released, but it crashes a LOT, that's why I say not ready. I constantly use it and I've had a lot of crashes. Hardly any with 18. It should have been released as a beta.
Hmm. I don't face that issue though🤔
Neel Narlawar Me either
Pity up till now that PD still can't draw straight lines

Straight lines should be so simple... why doesn't PD draw them? (as long as we are wishing, let's wish for a spell check for text boxes as well)
