Hi Julian, just purchased a MT-2. I along with other users seem it'd too sensitive hence it goes out of alignment too easily. I'm debating whether or not to return it, so far I used a Action camera but I eventually would use a full frame camera. What was your experience with this gimbal month to date? Thx!
Hi. I’d suggest using a bigger camera and get a feel for it before you return it if possible. These gimbals can be used with action cameras but they were not designed with them in mind. A light camera will move around more simply because the motors are too strong for them, the opposite happens when you use something heavier. I like the MT2 mostly because of the tracking sensor but if you don’t care about that, you might look for another gimbal, although, truth be told, there is no gimbal that has proven to be 100% accurate when it comes to stabilization or alignment. There is always a small variation that can happen from time to time.

honestly, if you are just going to use the smartphone you should get the M6 (that's MY opinion). The lower section and the app are the same. The tracking sensor is also the same, but you will be doing less balancing with the M6, it's lighter, the sensor can be flipped for "true" selfie mode, etc.

Hello Thanks for your feedback. I was just checking your camera and lens weight, it seems that they are 660 grams + 655 grams. The MT2 has a maximum recommended payload of 1.2 Kilos so your setup seems to be over the limit
Hi Otto, first of all thanks for the review! I have a question to you because I'm on the market to a gimbal. I current using ZV-E10 with Sigma 16mm/Sony 35mm f1.8/Tamron 17-70f2.8 lens. I need a gimbal and the option is narrowed down to : RS3 Mini, Weebill 3s (non combo because it's out of my budget), Zhiyun M3S, Moza Aircross S and Feiyu Scorp C/Mini The gimbail will be use to take some b roll for my channel and also a portrait mode for my Instagram reels. I think that the sigma lens and the tamron are quite heavy, to keep it safe I'd go for the RS3 Mini or the Weebill 3S. The MT2 and the Crane M3S might struggle with that weight. The Moza I haven't used and same goes for the Feiyu Scorp
If you use a different lens then yeah. If your camera setup is the same you can use the indicators to move them to the same position, not 100% accurate but most of the time will get the job done with minor or no adjustments at all
hi, the extra handle is for the RS3, or did I miss something? Here are the links for the one I mentioned, 2 different versions: Sling Handle: amzn.to/44E1STN Sling Handle with no arm: amzn.to/46LFg5w
Hello! I just wonder if is my camera is just too heavy? I tried my Leica SL body and once I put lens, it stops moving. Now I put a Lumix G9 and 35-100, it shows Error 3, how do I fix that? Also, is it normal for the gimbal to be hot?
I have a few questions. You said you tried the SL body and once you put the lens it stops moving. It sounds like you are mounting the lens while the gimbal is on? Error 3 is an error in the balance, what is the weight of that 35-100 and are you using it extended? The gimbal runs hot if it’s being overloaded with either a lot of weight or an imbalance
Thank you for such a fast response! So, when I try my full frame body, it doesn’t work when the lens is on, and yes, the gimbal was on when I was putting the lens on. So, the Leica 24-70 still kind of light enough to still moves but when 90-280 is on, definitely just not move at all. My solution, I tried my micro 4/3 sensor which is a Lumix G9 paired with Panasonic 35-00. It works and moves but the gimbal gets hot and it keeps on showing Error 3. My full frame is probably just too heavy for the gimbal.
Honestly I can’t decide between the RS 3 Mini, RS 3 and the Weebill 3S. I wanted something light and easy to travel but that wouldn’t be too heavy. The Weebill 3S looks like a great option for my weak wrists and back but it weight more than the RS3 Mini and RS 3 with handle. I have Sony a7iii with Zeiss 50mm 1.8 and 24-70 kit lens. Which one do you recommend?
hi. yeah it can get confusing to select one or the other. I think you mean Zeiss 55mm and the kit lens is the 28-70? IF that's the case, both lenses are below 300 grams and that means that the MT2 will hold them, but it will be almost at the limit. The MT2 has the advantage of the AI sensor, but I like the touch screen more on the RS3 Mini and the adjustment wheel that is in the front for multiple reasons. The weebill 3S is a good gimbal too but as you said, everything together makes it heavier, and the handles are something else that you will need to find space for in your backpack or carry on. For travelling, I have not used this one for those motives. Bottom line I think you need to look at the features of the MT2 vs the ones on the RS3 Mini to choose one or the other
@@OttoJulian_Yes that’s what I meant! Sorry 😅 I believe they are all a great option but I need to see what fits my needs best. Your videos and information are very helpful! Thank you for your support and keep up the amazing content!
@@OttoJulian_I think that you need also undersrand that you quite easily sell you DJI rs3 mini afterwards, and you almost unable to somehow sell your Hohem in comparison. So consider this too.
@Promikes yeah I always think about that because I usually sell my stuff when I don’t use it anymore, but most people are not thinking about that detail when they buy something because we often think that a product will fulfill our needs. I’ve found that selling something from a less known brand is easier when I say that it is similar to X product. Search results will show it and people look for the stuff on the internet to read reviews, an often, these products have a better price. I sold a Fimi drone 2 weeks after I announced it. Mini 3 Pro has been for sale for over a month still looking for a new owner 😄
Right now am sold to MT2 for their creative AI sensor. Unfortunately, hohem is not a software company. It means their AI algorithm sucks. DJI is known for his AI tracking, even in deep crowd they can keep the lock onto the subject. What is going to happen now is that DJI will copy the AI sensor idea from Hohem , perfect it and come back in next version. So, I'll buy DJI next gimbal version. It's steady, can carry more weight and where it lacks can be fixed in next version.
Interesting insight. I do agree somehow, but this tech released by Hohem is actually not so new, and other companies such as DJI haven’t done anything similar (yet). I have been wondering for quite some time when they will do something like this, and somehow I think it will not be available in their next gen of gimbals (talking about DJI). In the meanwhile, I think that there is room for Hohem to improve their own sensor.
I wouldn't call it "important", but it's a nice option to have with the wheel for example on the RS3 Mini, you can also use the joystick to manually move the camera around (panning too)
these gimbals do support action cameras. The A4 is on the light side so I like to use it with a heavier magnetic base that I have to give it a bit of extra weight
How did you get the stabilisation so smooth on the isteady test ? I am using a Sony evz 10 with kit lens and I seem to get some shake when ninja walking with it. Are there any specific settings you are using on the camera or MT2 ?
I just subscribed to your channel.. brother please help me, which one should I pick up for my first gimbal, either Isteady MT2 or feiyu Scorp. Really need your opinion. If I have extra budget for sure I will get Weebill 3s.
@@OttoJulian_ to honest I have been watching lots of reviews in UA-cam but some said MT2 didn't fit my body n lens due to its 1.2kg payload..some said Feiyu stabilisation is better than MT2.. what makes me attracted to MT2 was only the AI tracking..but till now I'm in dilemma.
@@agghafur3632 in terms of weight the MT2 is going to be ok but this lens has an "oversized" design which I'm not sure if it will make it front heavy. It doesn't extend much so I think it will be find. The Feiyu I haven't used much, just once or twice so I'd rather not to comment on it. Weebill 3S will have no issues with this setup but there is no tracking like on the MT2, and it's heavier
@OttoJulian_ I contacted the company and they said they are still working on the handle. They will add it to the website for purchase once it's ready. I guess ths one they showed was a prototype.
Hi Otto, if my Sony rx100mv camera is not on the compatibility list, can I still use the basic movements like pan, tilt, follow, timelapse, hyperlapse? I know the tracking does not require a connection, but I am concerned about the basic movements, thank you.
Hi. Yes it will work perfectly. Not being on the compatibility list usually means that the camera will not be able to connect to the gimbal either by bluetooth or with the control cable. But, everything else will work. Moments will be fine and all the features available such as A-B points, wheel roll, spin shots and so on. Basic movements will all work with no issues
Your point about the lenses on the camera is the killer for me. If you use Sigma lenses, you're out of luck because they're heavy and too front heavy for most Gimbals! The Sigma 24-70 alone is like 830kg, and the body of a sony is around 520kg, If I had that Sony lens lens you have (24-105) then it would be 663kg and I'd just pushing the limit of the Hohem with just a few kgs to spare. Now I see why these other creators are using smaller cameras in their videos while pretending like there is not a limit issue, and avoiding even discussing it. Thanks for being honest.
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah weight limitation is a major factor, and having heavier lenses like the ones you mentioned are not going to work, and I agree with you, other creators should mention it when they review these gimbals
Note, the Hohem gimbals are having many failures. I have the MT2 and balancing is always at the limit for the tilt axis even when using an Iphone. It is also very limited on lens use, My A6700 with the sony 90mm f2.8 Macro lens though within the load spec. will not balance as the camera cannot be moved back far enough, the mounting plate if extended buts up against the lens and won't screw on. Only other comment is the "Arca Swiss plates" they are non standard so nothing else fits. Nice idea but poorly thought out.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The payload is a reference and other brands have started to avoid telling customers their payload precisely because of this. It is quite safe to say that a gimbal will not be able to balance all cameras+lenses. It will depend on other factors besides the weight. I wouldn’t call this a failure to be honest, and the arca Swiss plate not being 100% compatible, I don’t know why this is an issue with every single gimbal
I’m sure they will improve it eventually. If I’m not mistaken this is their first “bigger” version of a gimbal and I’m looking forward for improvements. On the other hand, I’ve found it to be useful when I combine my A7IV with a small lens, but bigger lenses will indeed have some problems as you said 🙂
hohem MT2 will support a big more of weight, and you can't beat the tracking sensor if that's something that you will use. M3S does have a touchscreen and for me that's a big plus to be able to change settings quickly instead of using the app.
@@OttoJulian_Don't worry about your volume. Works fine for me here. And I like how the way you speak, slowly. Whereas, other content creators prefer to speed up their talking as if they have an appointment with the john. 😁

The tracking feature sold me on the MT2. I have a Canon R, R8 and R6 so it should work on all three. DJI'S tracking is way too complex and expensive.

hi, the extra handle is for the RS3, or did I miss something? Here are the links for the one I mentioned, 2 different versions: Sling Handle: amzn.to/44E1STN
Sling Handle with no arm: amzn.to/46LFg5w
I just bought the DJI RS3 Mini!!
Nice!
@@OttoJulian_ I was mad, lmao. Should I sell it & get this?? Then. Instead!
@@TheMaan2008 only if you think that the MT2 has more to offer for yourself. I find the tracking quite useful but that will depend on each person
Will the MT2 track an object? Thanks
The AI sensor can’t. If you use a smartphone on the gimbal it can track with the app.
Sorry 😅
I believe they are all a great option but I need to see what fits my needs best.
Mini 3 Pro has been for sale for over a month still looking for a new owner 😄
what arca swiss asessories have you or anyone purchased that fit this gimbal besides hohem acessories?
hopefully someone can answer you. I don't think I've needed anything else at all
Right now am sold to MT2 for their creative AI sensor.
If so, they will charge you double the price
Any idea when the next version of the DJI would be coming out with an AI sensor?
not even sure if they are working on that :(
So on the mt2 you can’t use the wheel to pan? Isn’t that an important feature?
I wouldn't call it "important", but it's a nice option to have with the wheel for example on the RS3 Mini, you can also use the joystick to manually move the camera around (panning too)
Can we use panasonic v785 in hohem?
I get the feeling that you can't
Wondering if dji osmo action 4 can be mounted?
these gimbals do support action cameras. The A4 is on the light side so I like to use it with a heavier magnetic base that I have to give it a bit of extra weight
@@OttoJulian_ thank you so much.
Great review!
Thank you Leonardo!
liked your video, and have a plan to buy Hohem isteady mt2, just checking can i use the Handle Sling Handgrip, like for RS 3 thanks g.lam
Thanks! yes you can but not the exact one that I showed for the RS3 Mini
How did you get the stabilisation so smooth on the isteady test ? I am using a Sony evz 10 with kit lens and I seem to get some shake when ninja walking with it. Are there any specific settings you are using on the camera or MT2 ?
hi, I didn't use any particular setting other than setting the gimbal to follow the movements slowly. I try to walk as smooth as possible.
For the ZV camera I believe I have the first level of stabilization set on the camera just to help out to smoothen out some movements
😊 This is a great gimbal. Isteady is Perfect for beginners.
It's really a good gimbal
support with camera Panasonic Lumic G95?
not really sure about this camera, sorry.
Please test and compare 2stabilization in run 🏃♂️ and hard walking positions 😊😊😊
I thought I did compare both running, didn’t I ?
Could you give me the link to the handle you showed in the video?
hi there. This amzn.to/44E1STN. If you have the arm by any chance you can buy the "top" section here amzn.to/46LFg5w
I just subscribed to your channel.. brother please help me, which one should I pick up for my first gimbal, either Isteady MT2 or feiyu Scorp. Really need your opinion. If I have extra budget for sure I will get Weebill 3s.
I'm using sony A7iii with 28mm-70mm (FE 3.5-5.6) kit lens for now
What is the weight of your lens ?
@@OttoJulian_ I checked in Google it said around 295g
Weebill 3S will have no issues with this setup but there is no tracking like on the MT2, and it's heavier
thanks for the video sharing , im planing to buy hohem
Glad I could help
I love this video. Very well comparison 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Glad you liked it!
does lumix g7 compatible to ronin rs3 mini?
I just checked the specs but mostly the weight, yes it will work
Is the hohem compatible with the Sony a6400
Yes it will hold it just fine
Well done! Very usefull comparation. Thank you👏
Glad it was helpful!
Do you know where to find the briefcase handle fir the MT2? I see a picture of it on their website but cant find it anywhere to buy.
I just saw that they gave this in their website. I think that they don’t have it yet
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks for the reply!
Will a Sony a 9 with a Sony 24-70mm be ok ✅ n the hohem mt2? Please advise? Ty
Very nice >>>>> Thank you .
Thank you! Cheers!
@@OttoJulian_ I see the DJI RS3 mini is perfect though so I'm going to check that. Thank you, though.
Thank you Otto
hey there Kevin, thank you!
I will need to weight my 24-105mm lens on my canon M2 mirrorless camera. If it meets the threshold for use on the Hohnen, I will buy this.
any update on this?
@@OttoJulian_ it was just on the max weight so I went with DJI Mini instead
Oh nice. DJI Mini is a fantastic choice!
Thank you for the review, the hohem offers more than ronin
They have their own strengths for sure
@@OttoJulian_ yes ... That's the reason why I chose hohem mt2
Please help, I need a small gimbal with follow focus. Its required for the original Blackmagic HD camera. The camera only use manual focus lens.
DJI RS3 (not the mini) or something like the new Crane 4 by Zhiyun
@@OttoJulian_ Merci! Kindly add your affiliate link, I can use it if I decide to get one of them. Thanks for your help.
you will need the combo version which has the focus motor, this is the link amzn.to/44LYfeI
Thank you!
Do you think the MT2 can hold Sony A7s3 and Sigma 24-70M at full length? Also thanks a lot for this video
hi! f/2.8? If that's the one, then no
@@OttoJulian_ yeh that’s the one. Thank you
thanks for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
@@OttoJulian_ I agree but with a bit of thought on the design it could have been made much better with regards to balance.
I’m sure they will improve it eventually. If I’m not mistaken this is their first “bigger” version of a gimbal and I’m looking forward for improvements. On the other hand, I’ve found it to be useful when I combine my A7IV with a small lens, but bigger lenses will indeed have some problems as you said 🙂
Found that with a smallrig cage on my Alpha 6700 balance is a lot easier as more weight goes on the body.
That’s great !! Thanks for letting us know
please can you help us do a review on the youtube.thankyou!
hey how is it going
Zhiyun crane m3s or Hohem mt2?
hohem MT2 will support a big more of weight, and you can't beat the tracking sensor if that's something that you will use. M3S does have a touchscreen and for me that's a big plus to be able to change settings quickly instead of using the app.
Well done
Thanks!
Thanks !!
with ZV-e10, In inception spin; start jerking after 2 seconds. Everything else is working. May be only Phones can be light enough to do spin.
Which one? The MT2?
@@OttoJulian_ yes.MT2

just like your travel videos
I'm planning to sell my dji rs3 mini. I bought it 2 weeks ago but I think I prefer the hohem mt2
nice. So you also have the MT2?
