So I only need to buy a truck to carry it all, lol.

Cleaning the canals, having fun and make some cash - win win!
sure is mate
Fill the poles up with mud 😂😂
Ha ha
Big brick in the trailer
Used to do that with copper pipes when i was younger. I got found out and banned from all local scrap merchants lol
Concrete
Or gravel/smaller stones
I dont know what I imagined weighing scrap in to be, but it seemed a lot more straight forward than I imagined . Always loved going to a car scrap yard with my dad as a kid in Manc to get some car parts..........top vid again
I loved it back in the day when i could get my own car oarts, not like now a days
Never heard of this hobby, looks like more fun than actual fishing!
You find way more
By far my favourite UA-cam channel this👌👌👌
Thanks
Ah! The video I've been waiting for! Great payout for just doing something for fun in your free time! Thanks for posting!
Cheers
amazing, I love the absolute honesty. Don't get much of that anymore, especially when it comes to money!
Id never lie mate as liers get found out eventually
£61 for a trailer full of metal 😃 and Magnet Fishing sounds fun so
Get paid to have fun 😃
Yep win win
@@drasticg unfortunately i can't drive and don't think a motorbike is much use to me for carrying much haha
Iv invested in a strong magnet and cord only to end up not using it :/
The problem im having is i cant remive all the stuff i bring to the surface... i dont own a trailer ... i own a car but i dont want to ruin it
I would love to find a solution tho
@@TheMatrixcube get yourself a pick-up (a ute in Australian terms).Nuff said.
Glad to see your making videos still mate
Definitly lol nothing will stop me lol
Great stuff Gaz what with $$$$ and celebs your the man . Enjoy the weekend buddy 👍
Ha ha thanks steve
Very interesting, thanks a lot drastic
No problem
Sick :) Part of the UK i never knew about, learn something new everyday haha.
No problem
I hope one of my many comment help made this video happen :) Keep up the good work
It probably did thanks
Cheers for that mate. That was good practical information concisely demonstrated.
No problem
drasticg I only asked you this question the other day because I’m thinking about getting a pickup and trailer to do garage clearances etc. £90 for 2 small trailers is not to be sniffed at mate, especially in this day and age where a working wage is not enough.
Nice one mate.
Ive been scrapping for years. Ally copper and brass mainly.theres just not enough money in steel scrap in Australia to bother. At least its out of the water and getting recycled. Love your work.
Thanks
Good for you m8, watched plenty of your vids, im glad your making some doe and keeping our canals free of shite. RESPT.
Cheers stephen
Well done Gareth m8 👍 you deserve the money for the work u put in bro.. you never give up on anything u always get out what you hook up with bud😂 and you're doing alot of good for the community and the environment bro so all the best to you buddy.😋👍
Thanks pal
craigyboy wallace
Well metal isn’t actually bad for the environment
@@sonarbuge7958 it is bad for the river water when its going rusty and when people throw old motor bikes in and the oil gets in the water it kills the fish and stuff so it's a good thing.. so well done Gareth ..
craigyboy wallace
Oh ok, I was just thinking that the metal ions would be used by plants but I guess too high a concentration of them could damage complex organisms
Great video mate
Hello from Manitoba, Canada! Your scrap ferrous steel prices are sure higher than ours....That load would have been lucky to garner $10 or so (about 5 Pounds) from our local yards. Am amazed at how much stuff magnet fishers pull up in the UK....Our rivers seem immaculately clean in comparison...
its a shame our canals are like this but its good for us magnet fishers
truthfully its the non magnetic stuff that fetches a price, brass copper and lead and cable is what i save
4:05 I actually work on the canal in Salford quays and we have hiyabs like that on the boat, however we only get stuff off the surface so there is never anything valuable.
Id love to come along one day
@@drasticg I'd have to speak to my boss about that one, but I've considered buying a magnet for some time after seeing your videos and just having a go when I get a break.
Great vid, hope everything is going well outside of the magnet fishing 👍🏽
Sure is
same goes for germany. where i live, there is not much (big) scrap metal in our rivers and/or lakes. you have to collect many small parts to make a lot of money of it.
One thing to consider, here in the US people will cut a junk full size pickup in half (behind the cab. They put a hitch on the front and a bit of wiring for brake lights, turn signals and running lights. It's got a built in tail gate. Just take off the prop shaft. Some guys will put a dump feature on the pickup bed, either manual or power assist. Just a thought. I like your trailer. Just the right size for you.
Yes thats a top idea only thing stopping me is finances
Another great vid keep it up
Looks like Hyde road..... keep the vids coming 👍🏼
Omg I live right near there 😱, Amazing vid.
Cheers pal
Different world mate.. then again mine goes in a 35 cubic yard roll off dumpster and usually has 4-5 long tonnes in it
During my recent binge of Your channel i was wondering how much can you make from scrap. Thats really impressive!
Cheers
Great video again it all adds up!
Thanks
Your welcome!
Wow 😮 that’s so nice 👍 you enjoy while magnet 🧲 fishing n you can make the money out of those stuff , that’s cool 😎 hope you guys get more n more stuff 👍
Thankyou
this is great u get money for doing there job clean the waterway .have u tried alumium cans they bring in money here i get them and sell them and scrape metal to all most like u do but i can't magnet fish for it have problems with my legs so u just do what u can good luck my friend
Ive not tried aluminium cans yet
That scrap yard must love you
TOP MAN GREAT VIDEO
Cheers
Nice one mate!
Thanks
Great that you say it the good way Mate that you buy your trailer from it and that you pay the fuel from it to drive around 👍 buy new magnet from it etcetra. Most people only think and see the 🤑🤑🤑 but not think that it also cost you money.
For me is the most important thing that i can pay the fuel from it to see more new location's. First we need to investing in magnets and stuf before we can make money and have fun because the fun is the most important thing in this hobby.
Greetings from the Netherlands
Cheers pal and its took me 18 months to gradually upgrade to the magnets and kit i use
Making money VROM scrap. Great job
GREAT TRIP TO THE SCRAP YARD
Cheers John
Great work pal fair play to ya 👍🇮🇪
Thanks
Hello That was so cool getting to see that place and nice pay for your scrap that trailers a great investment Is that your house looks Great Good to see you Great video as always 😀☮❤🕊🌹🐝
Yes mary thats my house and thank you
Started watching you a few weeks ago really interesting from all points what you find what you salvage and what you recycle. May I ask what you suggest as a good start kit (magnet ) for someone? I wouldn't mind trying this in Swansea but it will be in a river.
hi mate i have links to the magnets i have tested and use in the video descriptions so take a look through there, hope you find something interesting
Great vid!
Thanks
Perfect bud 👍
Thanks
Great Vid Gareth I need to start making some money out of magnet fishing lol 😂
You do mate, get a trailer
Cleaning the canal and making money
WIN WIN!!! 💰 💰 💰

Nice little earner!
I metal detect, and I do the same with the aluminium, copper, brass and lead.
Pays for my batteries and fuel!
Did you know? That the new bi metal coins are semi magnetic due to the nickel content.
Yes mate as the pounds are magnetic
Yeah that's the same in Australia but scrap metal itself is worth stuff all over here but copper and brass is worth the most
Shame coppper and brass isnt magnetic
First visit to your channel, really enjoyed my visit and the video. H.H. My friend
Thankyou very much
I'd suggest renting out a couple magnets and ropes, bringing like a parent and kid with you. There's a lot of people who want to try but not really buy a big magnet. Like a master class with drasticg type thing
That sounds a good idea but i have to vet people first as i have alot of people who would like to see me at the bottom of a canal lol
Good job mate your a good sort sharing that video.
Looks an easy task but do you need to have a licence or similar to get an account with the scrap yard?
Guess you register with them as they have your bank details to pay you lol.
You just go on with id and bank account details and thats it
u should try the canal of Darlaston rd where the old copper factory was bet there some stuff in there and I do know the non ferouse is not magnetic / it must b better in the winter this fishing lark as the water is clearer tight lines lol
Cheers for the tip
That's what alot of people around here do with the scrap metal cash it in . We also have people that do cellar and attic clean outs and they get to keep all they clean out. My husband does lawn work and painting as side jobs for extra money every little bit helps.
Sure does i should be a handy man
Am enjoying your postings, am thinking of having a go at this myself with grandson. One question whats "rebar"? never heard of this.
Hi mate rebar is the metal bars or mesh construction workers put into concrete, once the concrete is set the bars help to keep it rigid and strong
I find loads around bridges from when they where constructed
I weighed in 5 kg copper wire i found tidying my shed. Was going to bin it . But got £15 at scrapyard. They paid by cheque. Much easier if they transfer it into bank like your yard done..
tom moston alright, but thats just petrol money, unless your round the corner
@@neptase6872 it is under 2 miles and the tip is opposite the scrap yard. So tipping it was same distance.
I would suggest testing everything with a weaker couple kg magnet that may be has alloy on it, separate it and weigh it as either clean aluminium or dirty depending how much you can clean the steel or other metals off it, have made as much as 400 quid more off old engines this way than straight scrap
wow thats a big difference, cheers pal
Great job mate! Recycling and making cash
Thanks pal
Well done
I've only been a sub for a few weeks and know nothing about magnet fishing
What's the legality of it ? Do you need a permit or owt ?
How do the local councils feel about it ? I mean you are helping to clean the canal's
Wow I have made this mistake way too many times
Over here in Canada when you bring scrap in they give you cash for it right there on the spot we also separate the aluminum and copper and all that stuff but they pay out in cash.👍👍🇨🇦
We seperate metals but cant get cash as theifs used to steal all the copper cables from railways etc so going into the bank stopped the thefts slighlty
Yeah we have that problem over here with stealing copper in that I'm not quite sure how they deal with that parta but every time I've brought stuff in that I've collected or found we get cash but there is a big problem with thieves stealing copper and precious metals.
I been thinking of doing this someday nice to know it's profitable
Is it rue that you normally pull your trailer about with a Bentley Gaz .....but you down played it today for the video :)
Probably get 10 dollars here in Australia no real money in steel
Another Great vid keep em up mate ,
Thats a shame about scrap prices
Excuse the ignorance because I’ve never been to a scrap yard to get money but how would you get more by separating the rebar and poles from lighter metals? Surely if it’s all together and you get weighed a 2nd time it would consolidate the weight? Thanks for the video interesting to see what happens behind the scene :)
Hi
The heavy clean metal goes for more because its thick steel where as bike frames have plastics and non metal componants on
cant wait to watch a nother video
Wednesday mate
That's a lot of work for the money. But it seems to pay off well plus you are having fun. Are you getting better at backing up that trailer LOL? I've done my fair share of scrapping. We call the weight Bridge a scale.
Yes im getting really good with the trailer and can get it onto my tight driveway
Any chance of a little shout out on one of your vids for telling you the differance with light and heavy iron, cheers G 🤗 its deano haha redders P.S. keep up the good work luvin the videos, sweetness fella 👌
No
@@jake-lum1800 haha boom 😎
@@deanjames5594 haha lol
Can I ask what happens to the motorbike do the insurance company collect them or do you scrap them.
Insurance willl collect from the police
I’m not joking this is actually really cool 😂
I wanna do that
Lol
Good on you
Thanks
This is the content UA-cam was made for
Thanks thats a nice comment
Do you have to get an id to get rid of scrap metal and if so how do you get one please?
No id required
Think the most we have had in one trip is £196. so far we have cleaned 6/7 tonne of scrap out of the canal
Awesome, do you seperate the metal or just take the whole lot ?
So you can go in with a load of heavy stone slabs and they wouldn’t know you dropped metal off but you’d still get paid?
They would know, eyes everywhere
just took sum batts to scrappy good money return
What do you get for batterys and do you have to take the lead out
Wow! 61 quid, thats Definitely worth the effort!
I've seen old roads signs on eBay too, so if you find any more of those, clean them up & you might get a bit for them!
Oh cool didnt realise people bought them
@@drasticg there's actually a couple of Facebook groups with people who collect roadsigns, traffic cones & roadworks lamps.
Cool i will.check that out thanks
Here's a link to the 'barricade lanterns collectors group, members on here collect & restore old roadworks lamps, cones & signs, I used to collect roadworks lamps years ago, I've still got a couple & a few cones.

Where was the scrap yard? Would love to know, my missus is going mad at stuff I've collected....
Google your local yard
How do they know your not offloading a load of bricks or something like that to get the weight up?
They have workers watching
One man's trash, another's treasure
Sure is
You should make a video using your electro magnet
I like your profile pic. is that your car?
Will be doing after my knee op
@@paddythomas2628 I wish, I'd love to have one like it, it's Mazda Miata NA btw, thanks
You did good Gareth! At least its worth hauling....Btw what does 61 quid translate American?
Around 77 dollars
Thanks bud!
How do they weigh it when you have thrown it in the pile ??
I drive onto a way bridge on the left and they weigh the car snd full trailer, i empty trailer then drivd onto the second bridge and they re weigh the car and empty trailer
You get paid on the difference in weight you unloaded
Good job mate👍🏽 don’t you need a license now for scrapping metal.??? I’m only just starting up and good some real good spots to hit. I’ve just bought a trailer, 👌😜
No licence required just id and bank account
drasticg cool thanks👍🏽😊
onlinemagnets.com (one of your patreon supporter) does not exist, co.uk perharps?
Sorry its .co.uk
How much do you get for copper there
You will have to check Google
hello super good👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Hi
what licences are needed for collecting scrap?
Non but you need a waste carriers licence to transport it
@@drasticg ahhh cool thats cushty
How many punctures do you get a year ? 😂
Non
The problem with Australian money it's not magnetic which I think is stupid they should at least do a centerpiece or something in the coin that is a percentage magnetic
Its a shame your money isnt magnetic
Hi mate do you ever magnet fish rivers
Yes pal but they are more hazardous due to the rocks
nobody else hear his heart pump? my right ear was getting a bunch of it when he was talking to the lady
Really? I will have a listern
