Excellent video and information! My puppydog wears his and so many people stop to ask me how long it took him to get adjusted. They're always surprised that I tell them he adjusted very easy and never tried to take them off. People always say the same thing that they bought the shoes but the dog will remove them. They probably do exactly what you just said not to do which is to leave them alone to adjust to them. Without knowing I put them on my dog and we went on a pretty long walk. And I never had a problem. He just adjusted from wearing them. He walked funny for the first couple minutes then eventually realised he was able to walk normal and not high step like he was a horse.
I have the exact same shoes for our big cavalier. A big problem that is disappointing that few people mention. Is that a lot of dogs have front dew claws that cause pain with dew claw digging into the foot or catching on the inner boot. Even with strapping it didn't solve the problem. Just wants to pull it off. The big issue is the lower velcro strap wraps directly over the dew claw. Be good to have dog boots manufactured to account for dew claws. Like having the velcro straps higher up the foot and space around the dew claw.
great info! Never thought about using dog boots for senior dog to help with slipping on floors in the home. I also love that you show how to properly size - this will take the guess work out of buying the right kind and size!
This is a very informative video about a rather little known subject. Any dog living in a hot climate like Phoenix would do well to have some booties during the summer months. I also liked the part about elderly or handicapped dogs wearing non-slip boots. I had never heard of this and had a dog in my past that these would have helped a great bit. It would be a nice addition if know which companies sell better quality dog boots, to share that information as well. Thanks for a great video with lots of good advice and training tips!
Hopefully if my dog gets used to wearing her boots then i don’t have to carried her dog supports to wear it because to keep her from putting down that is really hot 😳😵
Hi! I saw you during VRAs’ live feed with Tony today and wanted to stop by and show my support as a fellow UA-camr who loves the advice and tips, they provide us to succeed. Out two pugs love the outdoors, especially in the snow and cold. They love their new coats but their feet do get cold. Doggie boots are something we need to add to their wardrobe this year. Great info!!! Thanks! I hope to see more of you online soon!
Thank you for the great tips. I bought some winter boots on sale today. I'll measure my dog's paws to be sure that the boots are actually the right size. I guessed while purchasing. You have a very nice Aussie.
Great video! Great tips on how to get your dog used to the boots. So glad we saw this and will get the boots Apollo has. Thanks for the very informative video and recommendations!
if you live in Arizona you will need dog boots for your dogs in the summer - this is a great vid to show the benefits of dog boots and how to get your dog to get used to them.
Do dogs paws grow? Why I ask this- I will be getting a service dog! I’ll be training her myself, but getting her as a puppy. I want to train her outside but the ground is always hot. I don’t really want to be constantly buying new boots for her considering that puppies do grow fast. I have heard that dog’s paws do not grow but I’m not sure if that’s a myth.
yes, dog's paws do grow. These days dog boots aren't all that expensive, and getting the right size is important, as they can leave paws sore, if they are too big or too small
we have a link to the dog boots Apollo wears in this video. They are inexpensive boots - but perfect for summer, because they have a mesh top and hard rubber sole. They also make a waterproof version of this boot that we like in the winter amzn.to/2SxBfMu
I got her new pink leopard print booties how long this dog gets used to wearing one even walking to the store and to the car how to hold her to put it on her feet is there any advice on how to put on her booties i think it is the right size my big sister measure her feet if dog goes into the store and walk the dog without her booties her feet gets burn and really hot to put her down 😳😵
Suzy- I have a video coming out that shows how to get your dog used to wearing dog boots. It is scheduled for Aug 7 ua-cam.com/video/cNziMW9wCbo/v-deo.html
You can work with her slowly, on leash, using only the fronts first. Put on the boots on the front paws, with the leash on and walk her around in your home. You can distract her with a toy. Walk back and forth until she walks normally. Repeat the process with the back paws only. Once she is comfortable in her usual surroundings, and walks naturally, then use all four and go outside.
that is why it is important not to just put them on and let the dog be. Put them on and take the dog for a short walk - then play with them to take their focus of the boots. Soon they will just ignore them
yes, but there are no wolves or wild dogs walking down paved roads in the summer, they are all laying low in the shade in the cool forest - unfortunately people need to take their city dogs out to potty during hot summer days

How do I recognise sore spots on my dogs paws? Love the video👍🏻
You can see the pad get red, or sensitive to touch, also you may notice the fur getting rubbed off.
@@mcsdog Right on, thanks!

Ok so when fitting the shoes, Does the Carpal Pad have to be outside or inside the shoe?
for most types of dog boots, inside, however, I have seen some types where it ends up outside.
Mom just got me some boots...I will be a difficult puppy when she puts them on😂
Just go slow
What brand of dog shoes suited for outdoor use in summer and winter do you recommend? Preferably not more then 40$

@@mcsdog Thank You
great now where to I get boots that fit a mastiff?
They should make them - I saw a few Mastiffs with boots here this summer
Diese Schuhe für den Hund sind Spitze.
danke
Okay, but how do you teach your dog to LIKE wearing boots?
over time. they do get used to them
My dogs would always bite the boots off and destroy them.
that is why it is important not to just put them on and let the dog be. Put them on and take the dog for a short walk - then play with them to take their focus of the boots. Soon they will just ignore them
My dog hates to wear boots 🤣
yes, our Jack Russell, Heidi doesn't care for them either :)
He needs boots for very hot ground.
same with us, that is why we got these hard rubber soled boots for Apollo
Am I missing something here? Wolves and wild dogs have been surviving without boots since the beginning of time.....
yes, but there are no wolves or wild dogs walking down paved roads in the summer, they are all laying low in the shade in the cool forest - unfortunately people need to take their city dogs out to potty during hot summer days
@@mcsdog I guess that makes sense.
