Gobta's looks didn't change when he was named because you cannot improve perfection
As a character Gobta acts exactly like a shonen protagonist. Sure he's lazy and flighty but he's reliable in a fight and he's intuitive when it comes to learning new techniques. Gobta placing 4th in the tournament was one of the most shonen-esque ass pulls I've ever seen.

It makes sense that Gobta doesn't have to use honoriffics with Rimuru: Gobta and Rimuru are friends, in a very casual, "hang out and get in trouble together" sort of way. If they weren't both adults when they met, Gobta would've been "prince Rimuru"'s one commoner friend who hangs out with him despite the social status difference. He's the friend Rimuru can do stuff with without having to worry about being the guy in charge of the place they're doing stuff.
This was so obvious in tensura nikki. It's not that they are equals and it's obvious that he respects rimuru but he doesn't worship him the same way the others do. He's a good character both as a support and a foil.
@@candycanenee Exactly! And Tensura Nikki did its job well in showcasing things like that in Rimuru's relationships with his friends and adopted family.
In a sense, Gobta is also Rimuru's whipping boy. Which is fitting, because he's the narrative whipping boy of the good guy team: if comedic pain is to be inflicted, it's almost always landing on poor Gobta. If Rimuru is behaving like a mischievous ne'er-do-well for any reason, it's almost certainly with Gobta as his sidekick (or even as GOBTA's sidekick in the endeavor), and thus when both are caught, Rimuru gets some embarassment and a light smack (because they know better), and Gobta gets the real physical punishment.
I wonder if the traditional whipping boy was also a close personal friend to the noble kid he was the whipping boy for, or if he more typically was a bullied victim of said noble kid. I would think the concept works better if they're real friends and the noble cares about his friend's pain, but....
They literally hang out with the elves together so casually...
In light novels, he got the fake genius skill, which allows him to master any one Vs one battle, also, ciel can't calculate how powerful is gobta, ciel can calculate time travel, azathoth powers, world creation, but can't calculate gobta

I absolutely adore Gobta and any other character in this show.
Amen to this. Tensura's creator excels in both world making and character creation. This is also the reason why watching tensura Nikki is a great thing, no matter how much hate I've seen being thrown to it for being boring.
I'm just throwing this out there for fun... but imagine Gobta getting roped in by Veldora into reading anime, then later at some huge moment, just before going into the Werewolf form, he smiles that mischievous Gobta smile and says "Bonkai!".

I think Gobta was allowed to talk informally because he couldn't talk formally. He basically talk to Rimiru informally already, and Rimiru actually liked it.
The show ends with the revelation that Gobta has been the supreme deity all along, guiding Rimiru after reincarnating him into his world.
That's a really interesting take 👍

@@AnimeRumpai Yeah Rimuru said that in Vol.16. According to the LN Author's statement, the last volume will be Vol.22. So Gobta still has time to gain a Demon Lord seed... There will be lots of fighting left, giving Gobta time to fight and defeat powerful oponents and gain the Demon Lord seed, then the required amount of souls to evolve. You never know what might happen up till the end of the LN.

Gobta is still more powerful than most of the 12 True Demon Lord Patrons in the current series. His potential maybe even higher if the Author decide to write it in the storyline.
I already thought Gobta was a very interesting character, but with all of his achievement shown like that it really makes me think he's a creative tactical genius, a badass and a quick learner even though he act really laid back he's exactly the type of person i would respect in real life!
Man I can’t wait for the light novel to follow up as someone who knows that after this point in the cannon story won’t follow the webnovels story I feel confident to say that the ability sage isn’t weak it’s just the weaker version of what rimiru has great sage. And webnovel gobta kicks tons of ass so can’t wait to see where his character develops from here

They are like the seasoning on the dish, barely noticeable,but extremely important for the tasteful experience of the food.
Able to survive Shion cooking, Hakuro intense training and also able to survive a piss off Milim and her hellish training. That's the real reason why Rimuru didn't evolved him to demon lord cause it wasn't necessary, he will get there with enough motivation.

U forgot that before getting named by Rimuru, gobta already was one of the few goblings able to make the trip back and forth to dwargon, thats why rimuru took him as a guide.
I think i can speak for a lot light novel readers here that we are watching this video even though we know exactly how powerful he is and just want to hear someone else talk about it.

He's got the charisma of a chad and the antics of a literal braindead turd. When you think of him, you set the bar so low that he almost always blows you away when he surpasses that standard. And you end up respecting that.

Gobta also has a resistance of a god because:
1. He got kicked by rimuru
2. Got poisoned by shions cooking
3. Got punched by milim
4. He always get beaten up by hakurou everytime they train
5. Got caught by Shuna in the elves bar 😏 (he probably got beaten up by shuna and shion...) (he also loss a lot of blood because of his unending nosebleeds 😂)
There are probably a lot more scenes when gobata got beaten up but i have already forgotten them...
Gobta was also the first to hear and follow Ciel’s orders, and do so perfectly at that.

During the Angel invasion Gabota literally become a God showing he's final form with Ranga when fighting Vega.
I have loved gobta as a character from the moment he didn't change from his naming. Knew there was something special about him from that moment on like he was a different breed of goblin somehow.
Gobta caught Testarossa's eye with his indifference towards her and even called her his kind of woman in the tank battle...
Goblin boy has some mighty big balls and it's gonna get him into trouble...
I am surprised is Gobta still alive after pissing testarossa.That alone proves how strong he is

So my theory is that at some point during the next volume of the LN, Gobta will have a huge arc and will become even stronger after. Then we will get another side story from the red haired goblina point of view visiting Tempest for the first time. There she will run into Gobta and fall in love with him. The end. Would be such a nice way to end his story :) Also Gobta has been one of my favorite characters in the story from the beginning. He's made me lol more times then anyone else. Highlight moment is when he was rewarded by Rimuru to be able to call him Rimuru without honorifics.

Now that rimuru moved on to Ciel, gobta, given enough time, might just evolve his Sage skill into Great Sage, or even Raphael.
with a few exceptions unique skills are unique to the acquirer, once the soul passes on the skill is lost. It may be reborn as a different skill that is incredibly similar but the exact skill can never be recreated. If Gobta evolves Sage it wouldn't become the great sage but something else like stratigest

@@ratre7349 that's what I'm getting at sage is an extra skill anyone can acquire it and multiple people can have it if sage evolves into a unique skill it'll be different for everyone, for example Hinata has a skill that's very similar to Great Sage that probably started as sage called Mathematician.
You also gotta remember that gobuta also has a rival hobgoblin (forgot the name) that is actually stronger just in terms of EP introduced in volume 17, gobuta truly is a shonen protagonist

Gobta has has the hidden unique skill: Zenkai.
I know he would be so powerful from when he actually survived Shion's cooking like nothing happened, and when he didn't get unconscious when Rimuru roundhouse-kicked him. (He's shaken and nauseous but not unconscious).
I called it way back when I read the manga and saw him learn how to travel though shadows. I literally made jokes with my friends that gobta was the true protagonist for so long.

3:33 On rewatch, I realised that Gobta gained Poison Resistance on his first eating of Shion's food.
Whereas Benimaru, who had been the Shion food tester for many years, have only gained Poison Resistance recently at time of Rimuru becoming a Demon Lord.
Gobta is indeed a prodigy.
In ln after seeing gobata and ranga combine transformation. SOMEHOW MILIM WAS EXPECTING SOMETHING and then after that she insist on taking him as diciple so I think gobata has potential to be equal to benimaru

I think a fact that makes this anime/manga/novel nice is even that despite Rimuru still the peak of power in the whole story, The other characters evolves and don't stay at the same level when they are introduced , like most of those "OP main character" stories

Basically Gobta is discount Rimuru. Rimuru has mimic while Gobta has unity, Rimuru has Raphael while Gobta has False Genius. Hell he even has ultimate skill Uriel later on.

if youre including things from the light novel then gobta doesnt have the first gun in that world. theres quite a few of them floating around, theyre just not common. also im pretty sure gobta was stronger than gabiru when they first met. not only did he instantly beat gabiru but he also seemed to deflect the orc (either general or commander, cant remember the rank off the top of my head) much easier than gabiru had
It's only the first gun in the world according to Rimuru, he obviously doesn't have knowledge on everything lol
