My eyes dropped a tear just looking at the Kamomedai vs Karasuno game

and someone needs to point out how furodate sacrificed the most antecipated match of haikyuu history (hoshiumi vs hinata), to make a point about burn out,
because that obstinated attitude hinata gave for so much time could send a dangerous message, so furodate was responsible enought to state:
you should give your all!! but respect your body, care for it, because you need to stay in peak condition for hen oportunities arise

I'm recently reread the Kamomedai and was reminded on why I like it so much. It's top 3 for me. I love the dynamic where Karasuno gets stuffed by the blocks then has to find creative ways to get around those blocks. And the process repeats. I also really enjoyed Hoshiumi's and Kirugami's backstories. I'm also a sucker for great defense.

After a few months of letting the story settle for me, that was the match that I was always thinking about. Although I really think the top seven matches could legit have an argument to be ranked number 1.

I love the adlers vs jackals match, I think it has a big flaw that contributes to the tension
Starting from the 3rd set and onwards the adlers were just put in a 3 point gap and only barely able to close it in towards the end

    • @SapoNinja9
      @SapoNinja9 2 роки тому +3

Hinata was the MVP of that game and the Adlers had little to no info about him, and since he was able to do anyting except for say blocking, that put them at a notable disadvantage

I liked the match because it felt good to have a match that was just a good time without any real tension! It just felt really rewarding for me.

Adlers vs jackals wasn't ever meant to be a match as a live letter to volleyball and conclusion to the promise hinata made to kageyama 1st chapter

    ------------------------ MANGA SPOILER ---------------------------------------
I totally agree, Neokoma and Karasuno at the nationals was the best, most gruesome, most exciting, most ruthless match in the whole series,
Furodate already antecipated how the most difficult matches for karasuno were against calm and collected teams, not teams with iron defenses like date tech because date tech is pretty hot headed as a team too, but calm, and collected, teams that fundament their play style and chiping away the other team strenghts, that explit the fails the other team have, Nekoma is a team without stars, but a team with little vulnerabilities, and karasuno is a team with many fails, but with an enthusiastic capable unorthodox attack,
i never expected that match to be so insane, the flashbacks explaining that the rivalry in styles, the difference in schools of volleyballs goes way way back, the time kid ukai, the hot bloded attacker simply coundt mark points no matter how hard he spiked against the calm nekomata,
and how to win, kageyma knew that kenma already studied hinata and knew everything hinata was capable at that point, so kageyma forced hinata to go one step beyond, forgoing his most powerfull weapon, speed, that moment truly felt like freedon for hinata, hinata didnt need tricky weird shots to play to compensate for his lack of height, he was a hitter, he had the soul of a hitter, just give to him a slow high ball and let he handle the point,
the way that - OPEN! - pannel was drawned was like if hinata had finally dove into the air with everything he had for the first time,
such an insane narrative trhough the match,
i think furodate simply perfected without knowing the old staple of anime/manga, the final rival match,
i really, really, really expect that all manga authors had followed that, because everyone who testified that shit wont be satisfied with less anymore

my favourite match was the Inarizaki one, but in terms of story telling, it has to kamomedai or nekoma. I also really liked the mujinazaka vs fukurodani match, as it was the most advanced game with arguably the best bits of volleyball we have seen (ie. wakatsus approach, bokutos mentality and drive, and akaashis breakdown and subsequent buildup).

Shiratorizawa vs karasuno reminds me a lot of Shohoku vs Kainan in slam dunk. Ushijima reminds me of really intimidating sports anime antagonists that just evoke pure power and gravitas. Ones that remind me of ushijima are shinichi maki from slam dunk, seijuro shin from eyeshield 21, Akashi from kuroko, and even Ricardo Martinez from hajime no Ippo. Sports anime antagonists hit different than other anime because sports anime are so grounded. These kind of characters have this presence that just makes you wonder if it’s even possible for them to be defeated. They feel the most threatening because they usually have similar personalities, stoic yet possess a ruthless competitiveness. I’d say oikawa is the best antagonist in haikyuu but it’s more for him as a character, rather than his commanding presence like ushijima. Haikyuu is very clearly influenced by slam dunk. Oikawa reminds me a bit of sendoh from slam dunk the same way ushijima reminds me of maki. Especially because oikawa and kageyama have a rivalry the same way sendoh and rukawa do in slam dunk. I also love the shiratorizawa match because of tsukishima’s incredible character development. To me, it’s probably the most hype moment in the series. It reminds me of mitsui hisashi’s character development in slam dunk. Slam dunk is one of my favorite manga of all time, so naturally I love all of the parallels that slam dunk has with haikyuu.

I also loved karasuno vs tokonami.. Not for the match but because it was showed from their point of view. It shows that even though we are following a team that doesn't mean the other team is not putting in efforts to improve and giving their best. It showed me that even in our lives we are obsessed with winners and no one remembers the looser but they have also put in their heart and sole just to reach there.

    my list is actually
    1st nekoma
    2nd kamomedai
    3rd inarizaki
Personally i didn't really like the inarizaki match in the manga as it felt stale after a while but in the anime, it was captured perfectly. If not for the anime, shiratorizawa mighty have sneaked in 3rd.
So 1st and 2nd is actually still undecided once the anime comes out.

I do enjoy your video, but really want to point out that ur pronunciation of Karasuno is so weird, its almost like krasuno. Could you do some research and pronounce it maybe in japanese and not so english about it? This might be strange but the first time i heard you say krasuno i immediately switch to another video, this time around, I convince myself to finish
