  • Billy the Kid Homesite in oldtown Silver City, New Mexico.
Silver City is a gem in Southwest New Mexico.
Founded 1878, a historic site that provides information about the town.
Billy the Kid lived in a small log house on this location from 1873 - 1875. He lived with his mother Catherine (died 1874), his brother Joe, and his stepfather William Antrim. The cabin was torn down in 1894.
This 1870s style cabin was a gift from movie producer/director Ron Howard. It fits the era in which Billy the Kid lived here. The cabin was a part of the set of his 2003 movie "The Missing." The New Mexico Department of Tourism negotiated the gift.
The cabin is in the old town Silver City visitor center ground.

I have only been in Silver City a couple of times and liked it very much. This video does show the roads are really in disrepair so the city can’t be doing very well ☹️

Overall, the place hasn't changed much since I left 50 years ago this June. Catchy tune!

Would be nice if you told what street you were driving.

I remember when I went to WNMU from 1979 until 1983. Silver City would be a great retirement town to live in. ❤

Poor camera work. Don’t tell anything about the city. What was the large build at the end of that one street?

And sorry 😞 for the poor camera work but these videos are part of our do adventures and I saved them on the channel as memories of what we enjoyed. I hope the video of the city brought you some good memories.

I wasn’t referring to the log cabin. I was referring to the large building at the end of the street. When I lived in Silver City in the 1950+s there was a large city or college ( New Mexico Western University) building, Could it had been the court house? It’s been so long ago I have forgotten. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to be critical. I was expecting you to talk and tell what streets you were on and what buildings we were seeing.

I used to live in Silver City growing up. The large building at end of street was the court house. Going up that street my dad had a repair shop. It was next to a church on right.

Why did you choose to drive some of the worst streets downtown. There are much nicer looking streets in town.
