Basically tire thumpers, truckers use them to check their tires. If you walk around with one of those the local constabulary is, likely, going to have a chat with you. On the other hand make it 3 to 4 feet long and it is a walking/hiking stick. Similar to a Punjabi dang.
Instead of spay painting the steel, heat it up to red hot and drop it in a container of oil. Of course, you want to do this when it is not attached to the wood. :)
@@EricDean thank you. I couldn't tell if it had been another copper pipe cap that was cut down or something different. I love the idea, simple but effective.
Thanks Jonathan! I've got a few videos ready to film, specifically geared toward the audience Matt has gifted me with, so stay tuned or those in the next couple weeks.
I usually cut my sticks between 18 and 22 inches, but it really depends on the person. Cut it long, and then you can always shorten it. The copper butt cap is actually just for looks, but I've also used the same steel cap I use for the head, but used it as a pommel, and it helps counter-balance the head on longer shafts.
"It looks... jolly simple doesn't it?"
"it's jolly DEADLY, old boy!"
1:49 I love that you have a piece of wood for moving your mess away.
You want to drill a hole into the business end of the Dowl first and fill it up with lead make it even heavier
Thanks
"babe!!!.. Get ma clearin stick!" lol hahahahaha

Good work. I bet those make a lovely “thunk.”

I've got a propane torch. I'll try that next time!
@@EricDean -- Just sitting on on the grating of your kitchen gas range until red hot and then dropping it in used fry oil seems to work also.
Basic mace. Perfect!
What was used for the butt cap on the second one?
One was a copper pipe end cap, one was just a fender washer held on with glue and a screw.

How long are the stics and why you use on one of the sticks a copper head

Nice.
What clear spray finish did you use at the end?
Just Rustoleum clearcoat. I use it on everything, pretty much.
@@EricDean thanks Rustoleum is very good and inexpensive here.
I didn't know they had a clearcoat.
@@dlighted8861 Oh yeah, it's the best. two or three coats with light buffing in between and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the end result
im not gonna lie, It would be easier to pick up a stick
That’s usually true
Legit
3:42 Looks about right to me
those dowel rods look like 1.25 inches instead 1 inch .
