Used this weapon during my first run through for a while. I really liked it until I fell in love with the blasphemous blade.
Consistent deathbird strat: use meteorite staff + rock sling (found nearby) and pound him from above.
Consistent spellblade strat: just before duo fight, visit RTH and interact with unconscious Rogier about 4 times. Easy spellblade set.
Of note: AoW might scale with INT, but not as much as you think. i.e, even at RL1, Godfrey/Whore-a Loux takes the same amount of button presses to kill. This weapon is more about using your buffs+talismans smartly and is a monster even at RL1.
Pro tip: pair this with fires deadly sin to reset the frostbite and get like 20 frost procks in 10 seconds it also stacks with the old lords talisman

For all those wondering meteorite staff + rocksling/Loretta’s arrows. Hide behind a rock from a distance. It attack but it won’t reach you.
Ran basically the same build but I had 23 in faith and used the faith tear to get me to 33 for Howl in boss fights.

You can kill it with holy pots from the top of the hill. I did it as a new game just to have a fresh low level save with the poker.
I'm really glad that most people don't even know about this weapon and how strong it is. I'm using it since the beginnng of the game because I fought the Deathritebird in Caelid really early when I saw him so I tried this weapon and since then it was my absolute favourite because it's flames reminded me about the Onyx Sword from Dark Souls 3. I hope they won't patch that weapon like they did with the sword of night and flame...

Good video man, only thing I'd add is night comet with the staff of loss. I never do a mage build without it, crazy DPS with an invisible attack enemies don't dodge and low FP cost, but death's poker is definitely the star of the show.

Some of the more agile bosses can bully you from time to time if they can circumvent that ground-wave AOE attack. Roughly 6 TRUE bosses in the game will give you a challenge, requiring a bit of skill and patience to surmount.
Still, this weapon is much too fun considering how many enemies march straight at you, more or less.
Glad to see this ugly paper-weight is still getting some love...

Tested it out on my test char (all stats lvl 80) cannot confirm that graven mass boosts the ash of war, neither the R1 nor the R2. Cam confirm tho that rogiers set boosts it aswell.
I always bring this one out for bosses but am trying to run through with the big katana with the glint blade ash of war for fun. Worked well just clubbing Rennala without even using the ghost flame ignition. Good video mate

I'm playing Elden Ring for the first time, took me a few tries to take that bird down but I love this weapon. Still so much I have to learn but I'm having so much fun
Deathrite birds still give me trouble to this day lol - The weapon is super OP though so have fun destroying literally everything now that you have it :)
if you ever have issues I suggest the executioner's axe strength build. I'm playing for the first time too and I just bonk bosses 4 hits and done lol
You can easily cheese the bird btw, just need a shield and some patience (you make him run off the edge near a root nearby)
I killed it by standing in the eye socket of the skull thing behind him

Yeah, I think it's the best weapon in the game tbh - certainly makes every boss super easy!

I like to use the Rogiers spellblade armor set with poker since each piece of the armor boosts DMG by 2% up to 8% with the full set of all the AoWs that deal magic DMG

Yes. It’s the most broken build, I use it with katana to keep it more interesting and not one side. I might go back to it once I get to Malenia.

I for some reason can’t get the death bird to spawn in? I’ve never killed it before and it’s not here like it’s no where around the area in the video

If you want to add a bit more strength into the build then you can use DMGS - that’s just as good but hits enemies like a truck
