I would like to see who has the biggest bags in sls (highest number of different landed single tricks), who repeats tricks the most, and what the most frequently done tricks are across all skaters. Could be a cool video
I'd love to see a breakdown of SLS scores of these competitors signature tricks over the years (seeing how they all have been doing the same ones every event for almost a decade). It's crazy to me that a trick the judges have been seeing at 4 contests a year, multiple times, for a decade is still getting them a 9.5 (or sometimes higher now than what was scored years ago). It's in this stalemate of progression, where everyone does the tricks they always do and other than someone being less consistent, the winner is decided by inconsistent scores. They should at least start scoring these 'signature' tricks lower so everyone gets a hint like, hey we wanna see something new...
5:44 I'd call that a nollie 270 fs noseslide. Popped off the nose and slides on the nose, and also approaches the ledge frontside. Rules kinda flip around when the same trick is mirrored fakie... (cab back tail) it doesn't really make sense but it is what it is.
So, I just watched that SLS in San Diego and can't help but feel like Hoefler should have won, should have scored higher on the line section both times. He got in his head and angry at the judges and basically almost cracked his head open because he must had been distracted by the sheer frustration that pretty-hair-skates-fast-kick-flips-a-lot hometown hero was winning without any nollie, fake or switch tricks in his game. It was very frustrating to watch.
off topic but Ryan Decenzo got robbed. is flipping into grinds harder than flip out? I don't think so but they gave Ryan an 8.9 for switch tail heel out and then gave Nyjah 9.3 for switch heel tail slide. also Filipe Gustavo did nollIe flip crook for a 9.0 and then gave Ryan an 8.6 for nollie flip nose. .4 point difference for 45 degree difference in board angle? lastly on kelvins last trick he only needed 8.5 to win, does 270 half cab back tail to fakie and gets FREAKING 9. PROPS FOR COMING IN CLUTCH BUT THAT IS IN NO WAY A 9, its almost an insult to score a 180 grind trick variation higher than a switch, flip, and grind variation. could have gave an 8.6 but no they had to rub salt in the wound.
i dont know why u specifically starts with kelvin doing the trick in 2017 , but at sls 2015 new jersey newark , he did the trick and got scored 9.1 ua-cam.com/video/GlNSbj5IE-M/v-deo.html
Everyone does the same tricks over and over, skateboarding is hard. Nyjah always brings new tricks tho, but that is really hard to do. I hope the haters will go to SLS and do a new trick every time
Nick is a brilliant madman (thank you for making me aware of him, so good). What's your approach to sorting through data? Spreadsheets everywhere, or something web-based? Cheers, fam!
People say they dont want to make skateboarding their job because it takes the fun out of it. And here dumbdata is keeping all the metrics of everything skateboarding related, if u can still enjoy skateboarding i tip my hat to you
i’m so tired of kelvin and others doing the same tricks for years and years. i already know which 3-5 tricks he will attempt every contest i think sls could benefit from doing what gymnastics does where they review each trick and adjust the difficulty score each year. for example, a biggerflip front board down the handrail 5-7 years ago is an easy 9, but now it’s so played out and so many people can do it that it should be in the 7.5-8 range. hopefully that would bring in some more creativity and freshness to the contests. who knows if sls will even be around that much longer tho 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah that’d be a good way for the judging to help viewers better understand the reasoning behind scores. Also some increased transparency would be nice, like having judges periodically explain why certain scores are higher or lower.
But how can they do that? It takes years to master a very hard trick, and then you expect them to improve on it every year?? What skater did you see doing that?
Nyjah is the only one doing that… so stop hating, go there and bring new tricks every time yourself, let’s see if one is able to do that… skateboarding IS HARRRD idiots
1:51 You’d be surprised how common that is to touch all four wheels before doing a trick out if manuals and nose manuals. If you look at skate videos and slowmo it, you will see it a lot. I always make it an aim to make sure I don’t touch all fours when tricking out of them and so the wheels remain elevated high still.

I would like you to return to analysis of 90s female pop music. Maybe 3LW, Real McCoy even.
Id love to see more dumb data lol wish I knew how to start cataloging my tricks
🤔

Forgot all about you😅 was hyped to get this notification
This is a masterpiece man, you could analize each skater, their signature tricks, overall skating of the top dogs, that would be awesome!
Thanks chief
Ever since Cariuma being a part a street league judging has been a lot more sketchy towards skaters if they are sponsored by cariuma or not
And you are surprisingly inconsistent with uploading happy to see a new vid

Ah good call out. Well noted.
9.1 is pretty in line with the overall historical scoring trend.

@@95mcqueen5 imo vincent milou is a great example. he has his go to tricks but it feels like every contest he pulls out something new
Greg Lutzka is a classic example of this... he ran the fs 270 noseblunt into the ground back in the day.
Nyjah is the only one doing that… so stop hating, go there and bring new tricks every time yourself, let’s see if one is able to do that… skateboarding IS HARRRD idiots
can you do more videos on skatesense?
You should be hired by SLS
This video is so pointless
Enjoyable Watch
i wish ryan won the last sls
rembem when full cab was like and ender, and not a filler trick kindish
half cab nose to tail is such an ugly trick i cant lie. maybe back to regular would be better but it just looks so...meh
he's backkkk
Kelvin is such a talented skater. I remember being SO HYPED when he made his debut. Stay blessed my guy 🙏🏽
Just watched this morning, holy moly dude I just learned way more about sls than I ever thought I would haha
Please do a video on what tricks appear the most in the best scored Tampa am runs 🙏🏼

Good to see more stuff DD your vids always offer interesting insight and take away

thanks data man this was informative
На туре будет дабстеп?
Bored trick

Definently a 7-7.5 trick, this dude ran this trick into the ground

u should really analyse the jamie griffin street part
Glad you posted this. I was thinking about this randomly after the last contest he seemed to be disappointed by the score he received.
Half cab nose to tail looks so dumb imo
its not a nine in any stretch of the imagination.
@@thereforeiam8700 defs
better than a shuv nose grind
I feelnlike kelvin gets shafted by the judges consistently. Nice to see him win even though i really wanted decenzo to get his first one
This vid is a 9.9 absolute banger
Thank you
