the progression from monopoly capitalism to catan capitalism is so hilarious to watch

From monopoly capitalism to catan feudalism, were regressing
I'm surprised MALF didn't try to unite the 3 against NL in first 2 minutes of the game because he was the only one with a victory point putting him in the lead
Excited for some Malf villainy.
2 mins in and already he is at it again
This is the most hyped series on the channel for me rn
honestly so true
At 49:15, I'm surprised NL didn't trade 3 wheat for a stone and bet on the 1 in 4 chance of winning by getting a victory point card.
I’m surprised he didn’t try an trade a sheep for a wood or brick to build a road and a settlement on the 8-3. The. Probably cost him the game.
I’m pretty sure he was trying to do that but didn’t realize he had a 3:1 port
He definitely forgot he had the 3:1 port
The better play would be to try and trade for a wood and a brick in order to build a road and settlement on the 8 3 wood.
He wins this turn if he gets the trade and has a good chance of winning next turn with the right rolls or trading with other players/port next turn. Red could only win if their 2 development cards were victory points. This means that there is either 1 victory point card in the whole deck or even 0 victory point cards if any of the two other players’ development cards were victory points, meaning the chances are way below the normal 1 in 5 odds (5 victory point cards out of 25 development cards). So northernlion would have been very unlikely to win from buying a development card and should have probably tried to build a road and settlement.
Also red only had 3 cards and northernlion traded red a road in return for a wheat allowing red to build his road and settlement and win. So northernlion shouldn’t have traded red the road (wood and brick) which allows red to sun and should have tried to get a road traded to himself. If northernlion didn’t trade a road for a wheat (where the road allowed red to win), he wouldn’t have had the 4 wheat to 3:1 in order to buy a development card. So trading the road for a wheat in order to buy a development card is a bad play as you have a very small chance of getting a victory point (less than the regular 1 in 5) if red has 2 victory point cards which is the only time it matters and by trading red a road you massively increase the odds of red winning as red builds a settlement. So yeah, northernlion should have tried to trade for a road and a settlement for himself instead.
I deadass just rewatched this video because I have nothing better to do and got annoyed by the exact same thing I commented about 2 years ago and checked the comments to see if others noticed it.
So sad NL didn't realize he had a 3 port and could have bought a dev card that last turn. Coulda pulled the last victory point and the dub :(
You can't play a development card the turn you buy it.
Edit: still would have been the correct play, but it wouldn't have changed anything
Edit 2: I stand corrected, I had just googled when you could play development cards without realizing that VP cards were an exception.
@@jacobmeads9678 I think the exception is if it is a victory point no?
@@jacobmeads9678 I mean it would have changed EVERYTHING if it was a victory point card thou
@@jacobmeads9678 if he pulls the VP, he wins, you don’t have to wait a turn to play VP. Only 1 left in the deck so pretty low odds, still a chance

You could tell NL was seething when Malf gave Sips 2 trades to place a settlement in the direction he was trying to go for half the game
NL posting Catan always gets me BRICKED UP
That slip of the tongue at 43:00. Big hints could have been formed at that moment to his one shot at victory
Here we go again. The battle between light (ryan) and darkness (malf). It's a tale as old as time lol.
I'm not sure if any of you have noticed but below each of the resources in the "bank" the question marks represent how many cards are left. Sort of simulating how a stack of cards looks when playing over the board. You don't know exactly how many are left but you can visually see an approximation.
new tech!
one catan, one rogue tower and one SAP video all in one day. i truely have been blessed by the egg god
big fan of NL + MALF + SIPS. Love watching you guys independently and together
HCJustin is pretty cool himself as well. The HC stands for He's Cool
These remind me of the good old strategy days with Mathas and Arumba. Absolutely love it
I grew up playing Catan. My favorite thing was slyly finding out what cards everyone had to use my Monopoly card. Since I staged my information gathering out in multiple rounds, usually, they'd never figure it out.
Love having best boy on the Canada show
more cataan please, im so pogged
Going last depends on the number of players and the board set up. But usually in a 2-3 player game going last is just goated.
Thank you for uploading this, my friends and I are going to get together to play the board game version this weekend
MO’ MONOPOLY!!’
The threats are empty and the points don’t matter
Snook, Chyou, and Erlin back at it again??? The pogs are flowing
I've had so many games where someone won when someone else would have won their next turn. It's actually really common.
Nothing better than getting a nice Northernlion video while on break!
Long may the golden age of catan continue
I love you all and Catan, can we see more of this content please Mr. Egg?
Malf is a supervillan, even that first settlement placement he's asking for it.
Disclaimer I love him regardless & he makes the game super fun
Been slipping on the liking and commenting lately but I still watch every day. Loving this content!
Dang not to back seat or anything but that last turn looked so juicy to roll for a victory point dev card and maybe win
You can't play a development card the turn you buy it. It was still the correct play, but it wouldn't have changed anything
Edit: I stand corrected, VP cards can be used the turn you buy them
@@jacobmeads9678 but you don't play a dev card if its a VP, if he pulled a VP that puts him at 10 and he wins. You don't have to "play" the card if it is a VP if just adds to your score.
@@bustabubba6712 yep, someone else corrected me in a different thread so I'm going back and editing my comments.
Catan is his Joker arc for sure
35:13 I'm a sick frick I like a quick brick.
Justin is a great addition.
actually slaps. keep making these please!
I need all the Catan injected into my veins + all other board games possible
At 49:32, trading 3 wheat for 1 ore with the bank (possible due to the port on the left) then buy a development card could have won the game for NL. He may have forgotten the port.
You can't play a development card the turn you buy it. It was still the correct play, but it wouldn't have changed anything

@@jacobmeads9678 Victory points count immediately, they aren't "played".
@@drvofoka7033 yep, someone else corrected me in a different thread so I'm going back to edit my comments
Settlers of Catan turns me into the Joker.
I love this series so much
Combing like my two favorite things here NL and catan
Catan so early in the morning? Idk if I can handle the intensity.
I love adding Justin to the mix. Anyone else feel the energy that a friendship is being slowly ruined - game by game?
you know malf did that shit on purpose at the start NL knows it too you can see it in his face lol (I hope malf reads this)
As someone who has no clue how catan is played this is very confusing to watch yet still entertaining due to the goonery involved
The first game of the series they explain a lot of it to sips, that's how I learned
don't worry, they don't know how to play either
Justin’s here! Awesome
NL didn't realized he could have won, he had a 3x1 port and if he got 1 more victory point, he had the win.
You can't play a development card the turn you buy it
Edit: still would have been the correct play, it just wouldn't have changed anything
Edit 2: I stand corrected, apparently VP cards can be played the turn you buy them
@@jacobmeads9678 Actually, victory points you get from development card can be played instantly. He had 9 points (5 points from houses, 2 points from largest army, 2 victory points). He had 4 forest, 1 sheep and 1 rock. He had a 3x1 port, so he changes 3 forest for 1 weat, and invest sheep, rock and weat in a development. If he was lucky enough and got the last victory point, he had the game there.
@@ignacioalmonacid6153 Yep, I had just googled when you could play development cards but that just said when you could play them in general. Looked at the actual rule book and it says you're right.
@@jacobmeads9678 I think it's because NL still is new to playing catan, like all the guys there. Doesn't realize how and when you can push for a win.
awesome that there is more
never played catan before but this series is great
Haven't played this in like a year. But got the bug, going to do a few games after watching this.... right after this SAP ranked game.
I do enjoy cantan. Im curious if you guys are ever gona play some expansions?
This game is all about those 2 card ports
Funny to see that you would have won if you traded 3 wheats at the end for an ore and bought a development card
This and elden ring is the peakest of egg content.
Can someone point me in the direction of Snook's youtube channel? I don't know who this north lion guy is. I'm only here for Snook.
Northern should have taken the wheat port with his second placement? yay or nay?
Can't believe Malf would take red from Ryan
you missed a 3:1 wheat for ore to a development card FTW at the end.
6 4 9 looks OP lol surprised that was not the first pick on the high wheat board! And u will het the 9 10 on the way back
I love watching this game
im going with orange after opening spots
Yeah, Justin had the strongest opening for sure. I'm sure he'd have won fairly easily if the dice hadn't skewed 4 so hard.
The targeting on RYAN in hard last is astounding
You need to play against dylighted. He's an absolutely cracked Catan player.
Catan content is pure dope, just sayin
why is this so good haha
any plans to try expansions?
Where do I download this version of the game when I look for it it’s some more rwalistic version
Let's gooo SIPS
Is there a limit to the amount of victory point development cards you can hold?
no
Not as far as max hand size, the only limit is card supply. In base Catan there are 25 Development Cards - 14 Knights, 2 Road Building, 2 Year of Plenty, 2 Monopoly and 5 +1 Victory Point cards
More catan please
Where is this version of the game located
Why didn't nl buy a dev card on that last turn? He might've gotten a vp from it and won
malf got a crush on sips or something? lol
go fish
What website or application are they using to play Catan?
It's in the description
If you guys log in, it will maintain colors and also not be random names
You coulda won on your last turn cause you could have traded 3:1 with your port for an ore
Malfs a nice guy but it would be really annoying to play catan with him
Actually ruins the fun by now to see Malf just blindly trying to screw with NL and getting bottom b**ched in the process...
