I guess when you see the conductor actually playing in the orchestra, it was the equivalent of when you are on an aeroplane and the pilot is sitting beside you ordering drinks... WHO'S FLYING THIS THING?

To see the berliner playing so unorganized almost improvised is just as beautiful as their well-known pedantic and flauless style. What is even more amazing and pleasant to see is how the cameramen and director are in love with Sarah Willis.

The best thing about this piece is seeing the joy, almost childlike, of Simon Rattle at the bass drum, one of my favorite conductors. Very cute!

@@ambroselam626 Exactly, since rattle is behind and not in front looks like some of them decided to do a repeat instead of ending the march the way its written. Rattle certainly didnt knew it and not all are informed. So half of the orchestra keeps going on. The Es klarinette knew it. But Sarah and Klaus had no idea.

Bin Berlinerin und so stolz darauf. Meine Eltern haben in Berlin gewohnt und uns viel von dieser tollen Stadt erzählt. Ich wohne nun in Südfrankreich. Dieses Lied bringt mir ein Stück Heimat und auch besonders gute Laune.

Paul Lincke certainly knew how to write a popular tune. The whole operetta, 'Frau Luna' is superb.

Ein weiteres Stück wäre der Radetzky-Marsch beim Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker.

@@BLUE89253ify Es ist ja schön daß sie positive Erinnerungen mit der DDR verbinden, das ging aber nun nicht allen dort so. Als Westberliner möchte ich mich nicht zu weit aus dem Fenster lehnen, aber wenn die Verwandschaft aus Cottbus Westbesuch in ein Buch eintragen mußte, an der Grenze auch vom Schießbefehl Gebrauch gemacht wurde ( u.a.Peter Fechter) bin ich doch sehr froh, in einem geeinten Deutschland zu leben, auch wenn die Art der Vereinigung nicht durchdacht war. Die CDU hat es eben schon damals verstanden, das Volk mit blühenden Landschaften zu locken und sie dann vor dörrenden Feldern alleine zu lassen.

Von 1971 bis 1973 lebte ich im beschaulichen Berlin-West oder Westberlin. Im Jahre 2017 besuchte ich mit meiner Frau Gesamt-Berlin und musste ihr eine mir fremdgewordene Stadt zeigen. Baustellen und Baukräne noch und noch auch die Luft hat sich verändert, aber zum Glück nicht die "Berliner Luft" von Paul Lincke.
So ist es eben; eine Stadt verändert sich. Aber ich würde nicht sagen dass Berlin sich ins negative entwickelt. Eine Junge Bevölkerung und viele neue Ideen sind das Rezept für Erfolg :D

Every time I hear Berliner Luft, I remember when I served in the 298th Army band 1969 to 1975. The Berliners were and are a phenomenal audience. When they hear an old favorite the aura is electrified. Berlin bleibt Berlin.

@@BLUE89253ify Von der ehemaligen Hauptstadt der DRR kannte ich nur Berlin-Mitte und natürlich Köpenick wegen dem Hauptmann von Köpenick. Weil etwas ähnliches hatte ich mit den Westberliner Behörden erlebt (EINREISESICHTVERMERK). Aber die "Die Berliner Luft, Sportpalast Walzer , die krumme Lanke und In Rixdorf ist Musike" bleiben ewig typisch Berlinerisch auch wenn alles typisch Berlinerisch verschwinden wird.

La Berliner Philharmoniker es una de las orquestas más prestigiosas del mundo. Nació en el siglo XIX y ha sido dirigida por extraordinarios directores, entre ellos Karajan, Abbado y ahora Rattle, a quien vemos acompañando a la orquesta en tono festivo. La pieza maestra de Lincke lo merece.
Esta divertida pieza de Paul Lincke forma parte de una antigua opereta. Puede ser considerada una marcha y por eso la he incluido en mis listas de "Himnos y Marchas" que figuran en los tres canales. También está en otras listas donde las mejores orquestas son protagonistas.
Más datos. Rattle se marchará a partir de 2018 y le sustituirá Petrenko. Pero en mis tres canales pueden ver también vídeos de esta marcha con Ozawa, Levine y Barenboim dirigiendo la Berliner. Que los disfruten.
