She also deserved nominations for House of sand and Fog & Requiem for a dream IMO.
Absolutely.
I'll never get tired of saying how robbed she was in House of Sand and Fog.
Requiem for a dream was on point.
Why do many of the Oscar-winning actresses barely get roles now?
Yep
Jennifer Connelly totally deserved it in my opinion. She was absolutely wonderful and the heart of the film. Her performance was moving and emotional. She showed in a great way her burden with her husband's mental illness but at the same moment she expressed the strength of a woman who stands by her husband.
But Helen Mirren was also great and both Marisa Tomei and Maggie Smith gave very good, but not winning performances (I haven't seen Kate Winslet in Iris)
Sabrina Ross
Kate Winslet was brilliant in IRIS as well.
Couldn't agree more
Ich stimme zu.
Yep
She's so classy. Look at how she realised she had won and the way she went to receive the award. Love her. Even her speech was elegant. ❤
Russell Crowe should have won best actor for this film as well.
YES I totally agree with you there...:)
MsMimilala Wrong.
Wrong. The aging makeup ruined it for me.
Who gives a sheet about make-up! It is the acting that counts the most!
atiboyful
Great actress, I cant believe Russel Crowe didn't win an Oscar in that movie though. His performance was just amazing.
Roxanna RZ
Denzel Washington deserved the Oscar over Russell Crowe hands down, plus Crow already won the previous year for "Gladiator"
Yep
Bcoz the year was too tough when yo got Sean Penn as a mentally challenged father and Denzel Washington as corrupt cop with a grey shade...!!
i agree
She is so beautiful, nothing else matters.
All the nominated actresses have won an oscar :)
i love you
I don't get how actresses who you barely hear from now have Oscars. I don't get it lol.
@@IWantToMature85 this was 2002! Of course some of them are not relevant anymore but they were and still are great of an actresses up to this day.
@@IWantToMature85 well you are 12 yrs old soo
That’s so satisfying
Well, she acts as if she had just won a prize for some small college musical production. She is so humble. That coupled with her amazing beauty is very hard to resist. She is not a movie star. She is a very fine actor who happens to be the most beautiful brunette on the planet. What makes her even harder to keep out of one's mind is the obvious intelligence and emotional depth she manifests. Any man who isn't a bit obsessed with her is made of stone.
Go take a cold shower.
That speech is so Jennifer Connelly! Simple and classy.
Also, because she got to write on paper 📝 ❤️
Jennifer Connelly was such a joy to watch in this film. Her award for Best Supporting Actress was well deserved.
LOVED how she got a kiss from Russell, and it seemed like he was telling her she was going to be fine (cause her boyfriend broke up with her right before that)
But she started dating Paul right after that no?
@@gmansi Yes. They got married less tham a year after this.
@@ChrisWolff2013 Thanks
@@ChrisWolff2013 broke up then gets married to another in less than a year, something smells fishy
@@dynamicentry6157 Well she was Paul's childhood crush and he was obsessed with her for a long time......Abd she had a bad break up,so things moved pretty fast in that case
Nothing about her is disgusting...she is one of the most beautiful women in the entire world. Period.
ive actually seen one girl who looked so alike to jennifer walking in my hometown that i was mesmerised 😮 and she had her husband and kids walking nearby too, such a big coincidence that even the family members actually fit her real one but by that i mean their gender and age not the faces, only the girl looked 100 perc just like the actress. but its impossible for the real one to end up in my hometown because im living in a baltic country in east europe which no one knows about haha. the girl looks stunning just like the actress, im jealous of both men who end up with em xD
LOL. What a...nice?...compliment.
"Hey baby, nothing about you is disgusting. Can I buy you a drink?"
Benicio looks like an older frailer Brad Pitt
Ikr
he is actually younger than b pitt
amelia grey Oh wow he really is :o
Maybe an older, Latin Brad Pitt
I thought it was him😅
She deserves it!!! Love her so much. She actually showed vulnerable emotions and didnt take this award for granted. Shes a lovely actress!!! Love this movie as well because of her & Russell Crowe ❤
Also love her in requiem for a dream.
she is amazing, brilliant actress she deserved the Oscar the most even if others are really amazing themselves
JENNIFER CONNOLY seems so shy, but greatest perfomance was Requiem for a dream, but I suppose it dealt with too many " taboo "subjects
All the nominees are Óscar Winners:
Maggie Smith: 1970 and 1978
Marisa Tomei: 1993
Jennifer Connelly: 2002
Helen Mirren: 2007
Kate Winslet: 2009
I just watched Beautiful Mind and she deserved an Oscar for her performance. She is a really great actress. And Russell Crowe should have won an Oscar for his performance.
Ok, her speech wasn't that great, but she totally deserved this award! She blew me away in A Beautiful Mind, especially that scene where she throws the glass of water at the bathroom mirror. I love you Jennifer!
There is nothing wrong with preparing a speech. Winning an Oscar would be such an overwhelming experience and trying to remember ppl to thank would be very hard on the spot when you are going through so many emotions. Would love to see you get up there in front of the whole world and improv
That movie is legend. I'm so happy she won the Oscar, she really deserved it. She's so cute, beautiful and talented. The only thing I'm sorry for is that just the day before her boyfriend left, so she couldn't enjoy the Oscars night the right way
Just watched the movie yesterday for the first time. It was AMAZING and she was incredible. Deserved award.
3:02 Alicia Larde and John Nash
Keve ti?
Jennifer connelly is the most beautiful and humble woman i've ever seen
Loved that she won but her speech is painful to watch.
intrepidmolasses- Amen to that! When you see her just 2 months earlier that year at the Golden Globes giving her acceptance speech there, she was a completely different person - stunning outfit and elegant speech with no notes needed. I imagine that timing of her personal despair must have been difficult to bear that evening at the Oscars.
She didn’t give a shit
@wonderfalls Paul Bettany was already waiting in the wings for her, though. He had decided after the 9/11 attacks to track her down and propose.
LiL Moonman what the hell? What does her being Jewish have anything to do with that and why would you be antisemitic
She deserved this in every way!! She is one of the best actresses to grace the silver screen. Not to mention how she is soooo beautifully elegant. Requiem for a dream and Waking the dead are my favorite. But then it has to be a beautiful mind❤️❤️❤️
Interesting to think how now, in 2012, all 5 of these actresses are Oscar winners.
Incredible category, this year.
All five of these women have Oscars now. Fantastic.
best part of her acting in the movie is when she says "you're understand, baby?" & "there's no one here!" IMO
She was totally surprised to receive the oscar lol.
omg what is Professor McGonagall doing with all these muggles?
Sujas Chowdhury professor mcgonagall wasn’t prejudice towards muggles though.
One of the greatest screen actors ever and also so gracious. I'm a fan. My top 5 favourite actresses of all time.
Wow, totally didn’t realize she was in Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America” (at age 11). Another amazing classic.
After Kate won for The Reader, every 2002 nominee in this category has an Oscar
I love the roles she selects to play.
Truly deserved Oscar. She's not only drop dead gorgeous, but she's a damn good actress. Love her to bits!
There is ALWAYS and upset with the Supporting actress for the most part. I think she deserved it. She was very brilliant in this role.
so beautiful and elegant. I wish there were more actresses like her these days.
In The Bedroom gave us 3 brilliant nominated performances, a film I always go back and watch.
at last a down to earth sophoisticated sweet American actress
This was the second Ron Howard directed performance to win an Oscar. The first was Don Ameche who won Supporting Actor for Cocoon. People nominated for Ron Howard movies who didn't win: Russell Crowe in A Beautiful mind, Kathleen Quinlan and Ed Harris both for Apollo 13, Paul Giamatti in Cinderella man, Frank Langella in Frost/Nixon, those are all I can think of. If there are any others, I'm sorry I forgot them.
She's such a great actress - so glad she won and she was amazing in Sand and Fog as well.
She actually deserved one with Bowie & Henson in the movie musical "Labyrinth".
Henson should of gotten best musical or sci-fi film or something at that time.
And David Bowie should of then gotten "best song in a movie" or "soundtrack" or even "best supporting actor".
Because that movie, being in the muppet lore, actually stands on its own as an amazing fanitsy film & puppeteers.
Decades later & I still find myself putting that movie on.
But at least after mostly dedicating her entire life from 11 yrs old to acting hopefully everyone knows she deserved it regardless of the current film.
She even said that in so so way in her classy acceptance speech.
🎉🎊🎉🎊💥💯

👏🏻🤌🏻👍🏻💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💅
this women has been making movies since she was 11 years old, she is now 58 years old and this is the one and only academy award she has won
what's the point? there are many that didn't win anything
53, not 58
One more than Richard Burton or Peter O'Toole won.
The Academy did it wrong. She deserved that Oscar for Réquiem for a dream!
she deserved the oscar for the both movies
@@haneen2336 House of sand and fog maybe too
@@haneen2336 o
O
Nah she she deserved it for this film
Amazing...... at the minute 3,9 you can see the real Alicia and Professor John Nash in the audience.
On May 23, 2015, John and Alicia Nash were killed in a car accident
both RIP.
romaromina It was no accident. It was clearly a hit.
I just found this out today, and am distraught. To go through this extraordinary life, to have it robbed of you on the New Jersey frickin turnpike :'''(((
@@bobthebear1246 seems it's not just John Nash that has mental health issues
@@lucyfoster4082 it was robbed by them not wearing seatbelts and getting ejected from the taxi lol.
vraellar :’(
Exceptional lineup. Winslet was warmly natural and beautifully expressive in 'Iris', Maggie Smith was a hilariously bitchy snob in 'Gosford Park', Marisa Tomei was quietly devastating in 'In the Bedroom', Jennifer Connelly was subtly intense in 'A Beautiful Mind' and Helen Mirren was brilliantly restrained and multi-layered in 'Gosford Park'. Any of these women could have won the Oscar. I slightly prefer Mirren and Winslet. A rare brilliant year for this category, unfortunately.
Well deserved win!
Talk about range, Jennifer starred in Requiem for a dream a year prior in a total opposite role and she killed both of the parts absolutely!
I know right? At first, I never knew who she was until my aunt showed me Requiem for a Dream. I asked who she was and such, and I learned that she does what others should do, and that's pick your roles carefully. I heard in an interview with her that she doesn't play roles for movies in which she herself wouldn't watch them.
It's funny that not only did Helen Mirren and Maggie Smith share the nomination for the same movie but also that Jennifer Connelly, Marisa Tomei, and Kate Winslet have all worked with Todd Field. Also, all five women are Oscar winners now. With Smith and Tomei present, it's like they lighted the way for the other three women to take home the statue that night or in the years to come.
I think she had a huge part in the movie, should have been on the best actress category. But she was really good in the movie. It was what resurrected her career.
Huh?? She was literally in Requiem for a Dream like a year before this, which was a huge movie... Her career never needed "resurrecting". She's the chick from Labrynth for god sake. And now just this year she was in a Tom Cruise movie.
So great to see Professor and Mrs Nash in the audience and hearing Jennifer paying a tribute to Alicia Nash's great love for her husband.
She was amazing in a beautiful mind
She's brilliant. Deserved more nominations. Maybe some day there will be more chances.
Congrats to Jennifer Connelly for this magnificent film a beautiful minds
I agree with both of you. On one hand, Jennifer Connelly totally deserved it. On the other hand, Maggie Smith it's such a wonderful actress that she deserves an Oscar for absolutely everything she does. But we know that's not possible. So this was Jennifer's year. And lets not forget that Maggie already has 2 Oscars, which is no small feat.
Who are you addressing?
Still obsessed with her in "Labyrinth"
The great John Nash himself in the audience at 2:59! ;)
Ugh benicio is so handsome and breathtaking
Her beauty is in another league
Strong lineup. RIP Dame Maggie Smith
benicio's voice is magnificent
Jennifer is a great actor and one of the most beautiful women ever.
All Actresses Deserved All OSCARS This Year!~!~! All So Beautifully Brilliant!!
I heard that Josh Charles broke up with her either the day before or the day of the Oscars. That's why she seemed off when receiving this award :( compare it to her Golden Globes acceptance speech.
omg Jennifer Connelly and Kate Winslet. My two favorite actresses!
did she need to read when she thanked her son LMAO!! I've just watched Requiem for a dream and she was amazing in it. I felt for her
She did a great job in that role. A well deserved award.
Such an elegant beauty.
"Maggie Smith was probably visiting friends and came to the ceremony in passing lol"
No, she went to LA specifically to attend the Oscars. She had done a Charlie Rose interview after the nominations, and he asked her if she still felt excited even though she already has two Oscars, and she said, "Of course! The Oscar is the biggie."
Can you plz tell me Who told that she attended the oscars while passing?
And i am very happy she showed up and she looks fabulous in that outfit, doesn't she ?
She should have won the academy award for Requiem for a dream and House of Sand and fog too....The oscars have no clue what they are doing sometimes...!!
Kate Winslet and Judy Dench both nominated for the same character at different ages in IRIS. Only one other time in Oscar history has this happened. The role of Rose in TITANIC .. played by Gloris Stewart and ... YEP.. Kate Winslet..
Minha atriz favorita, parabéns por esse prêmio é que no futuro, possa ser indicada ao Óscar de novo. Boa sorte Jennifer Connelly, você merece isso.👏👏👏👏👏
For my maggie smith was the best if there is one person who deserves to win 3 oscars that person is maggie smith
Yes i too think same. I am a huge fan of her. I was surprised she didn't receive nominations for lady in the van and Downton abbey ... she deserved those too..
But i am looking forward to downton abbey2 this December and i hope and pray she wins an oscar for that.
O...k... Probably I look waaaay more excited than Jennifer whenever I find 10 dollar in my pocket!!
She is so beautiful!
This is one of my favorite films! She is so classy and elegant. Love her so much.
Jennifer....one of those rare "stars" that we actually do....really like.
What a film man after 20years i have seen it today thnks❤❤
wow! all the nominees are A List superstars
She is so wonderfully beautiful
I still don't know why Russell didn't win for "A Beautiful Mind" as well.
But well, Denzel nailed it with "Training Day" so it's alright hehe
She’s so perfect 😭😭😭😭😭
Dame Maggie Smith ❤
0:02 Brad Pitt has let himself go
Ha! Benicio Del Toro is better looking than Brad it's just has more of a chiseled face.
Helen Mirren was unforgettable in Gosford Park, almost unrecogniseable and that last scene where she admits he is her son ! Wow !
You are so right. She was absolutely breathtaking.
She was way better in Requiem or House of sand and fog.... But she also was great in Beautiful mind! By the way she's very beautiful!
She wasn't better than this in "Requiem for a Dream" (one of my all-time favorite movies), but she was SO SOOOO ROBBED for "The House of Sand and Fog", it angers me to know she wasn't nominated there, when her performance was a gazillion times better than in "a beautiful mind", that same year, Nicole Kidman was also snubbed for "Cold Mountain".
🌸 Lovely Jennifer Connelly 💗
Great actress.
benicio's so beautiful and charismatic
Yea, but its just that whenever i watch that amazing movie A beautiful Mind......i realize what a absolutely genius work he did in that film. Russel crowe was beyond words in that movie. Thats i feel he deserved it more than anyone. And yes, he was amazing Gladiator toooo!
I love her dress!!
Hope she wins this again for Top Gun Maverick
What?
@@57yearoldjamesbond then i saw she wasnt nominated
Lovely seeing and listing to Jennifer Connelly with seeing in audience: Russel Crow, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer.
Shes so beautiful and ageless!
She is stunning
@AcademyAwardsPerson My guess is that the Academy would say that A Beautiful Mind was about Nash, where as Walk The Line was about the relationship between John and June. Just a thought.
I can't take my mind of her....She's so pretty and beautiful...
Such wonderful & beautiful woman.
And all of the nominees in this category are now Academy winners!
