My son has ana to fish .crab and blue muscle the worst .
It started at weaning stage , tuna caused red cheeks ,croaky throat ,cod fish fingers was next ,this was 24 years ago , no information was given only as he got older to give him piriton .
We were not aware it was life threatening .
I never gave him any fish , as a teen he would go to chip shop not eating fish , chips which were cross contaminated . Causing huge lumps . Or swelling of mouth , or eyes if he rubbed them after touching counters .
Hes worst ana reaction was when he was given veg stirfry which contained fish extract .
His reaction was really bad , full ana requiring a and e .
After this he would not eat , he lost 2 stone ., had anxiety which is now at age 25 after many reactions .pts ocd . No eating out .no prepack foods . Even though all food is home made he is still no better .
It affects all the family ,because uf they come into the house ,they need to wash hands ,to have not eaten fish , but he still dosnt trust anyone only me his mum .
He rarely goes out , he dosnt mix with people ,
You should stay away from cafes , restaurants, sorry to say , because ana can be caused by young people working in Saturday jobs ,unware of fish or peanut allergies .
Its not worth facing death which can happen. Goin on holiday for us to spain was hard ,all ingredients were in spanish . Be aware the language barrier causes difficulties .
It dosnt get easier with diagnosis .it gets worse when a child becomes a young adult .they realise its serious .
