      @@da_great_mogul I think it just means that if you gave him a stand-alone difficult pot, he would successfully make that pot more than any other player. They say ‘single ball’ because in snooker, you’re looking to string many pots together to form a break (and I guess in pool too to make a clearance) - but they’re just talking about a single shot. As such, it’s a weapon he can use to get himself out of trouble - rather than having to play a safety shot, he can often make a difficult pot to get himself out of trouble.

    I observed that snooker players do not 'practice' the stroke before the shot. Even when they get down for the shot, they usually strike right away.
    Pool players will typically repeat the stroke movement 3 or 4 times before getting into position and once they are down, they will simulate the stroke another 3 times before hitting the cue ball.
    Why is that so?
    Sorry if this sounds like a silly question.

    • @mrtomas0990
      @mrtomas0990 Рік тому

      Snooker you have to pot a lot of balls to win a frame, so snooker becomes more rythmic when break building. Pool can be more robotic when concentrating on 8 pots

    • @Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55
      @Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55 8 місяців тому

      The real answer is once a snooker player is set, they don't want to keep repeating the stroke and possibly risk knocking their cue action off direction. There's much less room for error in snooker because of table size, small pockets etc. So if you keep practicing your stroke, you might keep edging your cue a few millimeters off where you intend to hit the ball and it can make a huge difference in snooker. Its much better to set yourself, lock yourself into exactly where you wanna strike the ball and then do it. Although some snooker players do actually stroke a few times before hitting, but it's more for composure at times rather than rush

    The way I see snooker is there is a playoff between technique and feel for the game. The more a top player focuses on technique, he loses a little with the feel. If he focuses on the feel the technique goes in places.
    Williams and Selby are more about the feel and Robertson and Judd are examples on technique. Those who have a great feel transition into pool way better. It doesn't surprise me Selby is great at pool. It also doesn't surprise Williams at his age finds it easy to transition.
    Still Williams is kinda has his snooker brain on while playing pool.

    Easy to make fun of pool but you have far less margin for error. Racks can be won in under a minute from one error and you have far less table to play with, so you have to be more careful not to run out of position. And also, because the pack is spread you cannot hold in one area to win the game. There is massive pressure on every shot. Absolutely snooker is a more difficult and accurate sport, but pool is harder to win because a player can make wins off the break also. Intense game at competitive level

    Wait if that was every finish, I'm guessing he got his ass handed to him in the final two matches there? E.g. he only got 1 frame against Cole?

    I play in a charity pool league in Kent, I have to say, my dream of all dreams is to use one of those beautiful grey tables you got there at the centre.
    The balls, cloth everything is just perfect. Outstanding playing conditions for the pros.

      @@robbiedolan3791 we have great snooker facilities but every pool table round my area (canterbury) is just shoddy tables from the early 2000's its like playing on a 3G football pitch, balls react like lead everywhere you go... It sucks because Im really getting into me pool these last few years but there is no decent places near me to play.
      Might have to bite the bullet and buy a table from Ultimate Pool

    I've been playing pools quite a bit at our university and I notice being watched by the cleaners some made passes or would come over by the table pretending to hoover. Female students would sometime stare when I had my back to them checking my arse while I'm taking a shot, sometime raising their phone taking pictures.
