On Spock's E-6B, the circular slide rule side's circumference tint is yellow for better contrast and visibility against the black markings - especially in low visibility conditions. I have several aluminum military versions with no tint (large like Spock's and smaller ones). Many E-6B's are made of stiff white cardboard or plastic, allowing a wider range of colors for special markings. They are more easily warped, no pun intended.
